Peter Thompson4 said:I mean, sure, I could settle for some run-down shack in the middle of nowhere, but honestly, I haven't been able to find anything decent available, and whatever little is left isn't even worth looking at—plus, what we’re currently stuck with is already way too much to handle. Easy. We've got the satellites, we just need to figure out where the hell to launch them or get them stationed. Honestly, I’m just dying to disappear into some deep forest right now, somewhere far away from people and cell service. I just want to be alone for a few minutes, totally cut off from this damn civilization.

Maybe look into joining a hiking club—they usually have maps showing all those little cabins tucked away in the more remote parts of the Rockies.

I've got one—solid phone considering the price point. I picked it up for $500 back when they first opened the Xiaomi store at the local mall.

The only real downside is the camera in low light; it’s mediocre at best. You can tweak the settings a bit to help, but my girlfriend's Honor 8 absolutely crushes it there. During the day, though, the camera is great—at least for my untrained eye.

I wanted this specifically for the Android One program since you get basically stock Android without all the bloatware manufacturers usually cram into their devices—and I have to say, it actually runs smooth and bug-free.

Oh, and one hardware flaw: no NFC.

I might put a veto on this—maybe over the summer during pickle season—but right now, I really don't see the point of these kinds of threads.

Is it just me, or is this whole situation regarding the footage from the Mayor's trial completely insane?

There’s video of him telling his subordinates to basically manufacture a job opening just to hire one of his cronies—it’s blunt, zero subtlety, and the media reaction isn't just lukewarm; it’s practically non-existent. Then, as if it weren't obvious they're ignoring the actual crime, they pivot the entire narrative to focus on his "communication style" with staff. Like that’s the real issue here 🙏

Did I miss something?

Paul Martinez73 said:So how long does the ban actually last once you cross that 100-point mark?
I'm pretty sure I racked up over 1,000 myself, and I was banned for ten days before they finally let me back in...

Unfortunately, no—your first 500-point penalty expired before the second one even hit.

It’s really not that big of a deal—it’s not like 200 people are suddenly wandering around in a daze over how this topic is being handled.

Personally, what bothered me was how, amidst all the collective mockery, a few people used the guise of "just trolling" to take their own complexes and frustrations out on others. There has to be a line—a certain baseline of quality that needs to be maintained. Even if interest in forums as a medium is fading, we still have enough decent users here capable of driving serious discussions, or at least offering some lighthearted banter without being toxic.

Some users got banned, while some who probably should have been addressed slipped through the cracks—but hey, that’s what happens when the NFL refuses to invest in proper officiating. Learning from this, I trust we'll handle similar situations more proactively next time to prevent these kinds of blowups from happening in the first place.

Handball is such an unwatchable sport—referees make sure every single nail-biter is decided for them.
First, during today's USA-France match, they sent off a Spanish player for some imaginary facial contact, giving the French a three-goal cushion right when things were getting interesting.

Now we're seeing the same thing again—Iceland is up 20:17, then a German player just collapses out of nowhere, an Icelandic player trips over him, and suddenly it’s a fast-break foul. They score to make it 21:17, basically ending the game after Iceland struggled through five straight possessions.

But hey, at least they gave us video technology. 🙏

The International Handball Federation is a joke—a total disgrace. FIFA actually looks honest compared to these crooks.

Out of everything you mentioned, only one post actually needed to be nuked—which I've already handled. The rest is just minor noise, nothing worth blowing up into a whole new thread over.

Next time, instead of making a scene, just report your own post—that's what this board is for anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, feel free to lock this. I'm done weighing in on this issue, and I doubt anyone else here has much to say either.

Look, I just scrolled through the last 20 pages of the unnamed section—including the window during the game—and I didn't see any of those bloodthirsty users you’re talking about. There were a few posts that needed deleting, mostly from hotheads venting during and right after the game, plus some blunt replies to trolls that got sanctioned.

I don't really get the apocalyptic tone of your opening post—after all, it doesn't look like you've reported a single thing from the unnamed section in the last couple of days.

The unnamed section is more of a Sports Fan thread than a US Soccer one, but the moderators decided it's too valuable to the site to restrict it, so they tolerate a looser writing style typical of the Sports Fan crowd.

As for the general US Soccer moderation, if we actually stuck to strict rules, your own trolling would have gotten you banned ages ago—so your point about users getting "cards for an emoji" doesn't hold much water.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to clean up your own backyard first—as the old saying goes—before pointing fingers at everyone else. Besides, there's a specific thread for appealing penalties, so just follow the Reddit rules you're preaching so loudly and post your grievances there.

Paul Martinez73 said:I think we can all agree that even a year ago, the quality of posts and discussions here was twice what it is now. I’m not trying to be a contrarian, but when someone starts using their past reputation as a shield just to justify writing like that Overlord guy who still won't shut up... claiming he was "just being ironic" while actually just nuking every single debate in sight.
Constantly replying with the same tired questions and turning every discussion into an exhausting slog with certain people just kills the drive to participate.
But hey, maybe it's just me...

Not really.

American soccer has been unreadable for years—and ever since the big money owners took over teams like the one in Seattle, things have just spiraled. That’s just how it is. Not much has changed in the last year, except for the noticeable decline of the "National League" project—which brought in a wave of critics people don't like, along with the usual trolls. But the actual quality of the debates? It hasn't really fluctuated that much.

That whole PDF thing is pretty useless now—it just scatters the users, which kills the discussion on the main board. The idea was solid at first, but much like the state of the league itself, it’s been degrading for years. If you stripped away the "Fan Corner"—which is basically the only clinic left worth visiting—the traffic would be about as lively as a graveyard in rural Nebraska.

But like I said, there's neither the will nor the manpower to fix it—and that isn't just an issue with the National League project, but with this entire forum.
depending on what you consider an appropriate place for discussion 🤷

we can push for groupthink—get aggressive toward anyone who doesn't fall in line with the majority—but then what’s the point of a forum? just so everyone can sit around patting each other on the back?

not everyone who gets labeled a troll actually is one. in American soccer circles, it’s become standard practice to slap a "troll" tag on anyone expressing an opinion that deviates from the herd, basically making a fool out of them for having a different take.

as for the actual trolls, sure, they sometimes linger longer than they should, but nobody can be lurking here 24/7. we all have jobs, college, lives... some people supposedly have plenty of time for other things too 🤮.

you see how the market looks right now—everyone’s heading to Europe or looking for remote work, nobody wants to grind for peanuts, let alone volunteer their time just so some club can sell ad clicks. honestly, we’re doing what we can, and since you guys aren't idiots, feel free to just ignore the morons. engaging with them just creates more work and gets less done.

Patrick Martin said:Man, I finally sorted out the Television for the old folks, but the four of us had to haul that heavy thing up to the second floor ourselves ☕

Honestly, the drinks I had to buy to deal with the stress cost me way more than the Television itself

Wait, so one guy carried the Television, and then you and two others helped?
We should probably set this up for the other leagues too—anyone interested?

Your take is pretty blind compared to the actual analysis on these forums—so I’m really not following what you're asking for here 🤷
