Markić's dog from Hrast says Andrej Plenković pushed through a decision against the will of the bishops—basically the American people 🙏

God 🙏 🙏

Where do we even live? 🤦

Honestly, it doesn't make sense to me either—especially considering he landed a gig at a major telecom firm right after that whole "expert" consultation phase 🤦

On another note: The American ruling class—specifically a huge chunk of the Republican Party leadership lately—is shamelessly claiming they can't vote to ratify the Istanbul Convention because their bishops told them not to 🙏 And people aren't even questioning it 🙏

God 🤦

Look at who's leading us—it's a miracle we're still holding it together

Look, I never claimed the guy was some top-tier expert—he basically landed that role right out of college as part of a training program, and they kept him after that.

And sure, some companies might be a total paradise, but let’s be real—it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.

James Anderson5 said:Last year, I came across some public opinion poll in Cleveland, and the most desirable employer was the government 😁 Well, obviously. The average salaries are way higher than in the private sector, job security is basically absolute, and you usually don't have to work hard at all. But if you try to start your own business, it feels like walking through a minefield because you're constantly exposed to fines for every little thing. So, what's there to think about? 🤣

That whole thing about salaries is largely a myth. A girl I know works for the government on minimum wage and she can't wait to get out. A friend of mine too—and even a buddy of mine in an IT department within the public sector makes less than average.

On another note—some far-right extremist from Argentina, whose ancestors were basically flushed down the drain back in '45—just went ahead and declared them martyrs 🤦

graniteheron132 said:Honestly, America could really use some full-scale privatization 🤣 let’s just hand the keys over to our favorite local entrepreneurs... slash the minimum wage in half, privatize the school system, healthcare, even the airlines.

Why just slash it—let's kill the minimum wage entirely 🤣

I can already see the job postings for assembly line workers: three shifts, $500 a month, and plenty of whining because nobody wants to work. 🙂

In China, they do it for $25 an hour 🙂

just so some guy can afford a new car or a yacht—they'll probably just import labor from overseas.

The other day I was driving through Chicago and saw some demolition going on near where an old dealership used to be—reminded me of that story about the worker who shot his boss because the guy bought a luxury car instead of paying wages. That's the kind of "entrepreneur" we're supposed to accommodate here. How many of these types do you think are actually looking to outsource labor?

It's a shame it was just an isolated incident—if more people had gotten what they deserved, maybe things would look different today.

James Anderson5 said:Don't you think there's a heavy dose of that old-school collectivist mindset still running things here in America? I mean, look at how people land jobs in government agencies or major corporations—it’s often all about political connections rather than merit. Plus, such a huge chunk of the economy is state-run, and that influence only grows when the government starts micromanaging massive conglomerates like Walmart or Amazon...

The whole market and tax system is upside down; just look at how public sector salaries often outpace the private sector. Does that seem normal to you?

That entire logic leads to claims that private sector workers are underpaid simply because bosses won't give them more. But the market should handle those shifts. The government's job should be to provide the best possible environment for businesses to operate stably, so they can actually turn a profit. From there, healthy competition should naturally drive up wages as companies vie for talent if they have the means...

I wouldn't call it communist—more of a socialist mindset. And yeah, I agree the government sticks its nose into everything too much (answering Justin James10 directly), but while the state needs to let the market breathe, it ultimately serves the citizens, not just big capital. Total liberalization would be madness—even much stronger economies couldn't handle it, let alone ours.

Living standards in America are climbing, costs go up every year, and wages just aren't keeping pace. People keep pushing for tax reforms and lowering payroll taxes—and while I agree we need them, I'm skeptical they'll actually put money in workers' pockets here. It'll probably just end up lining someone else's pockets instead. Closing the market to cheap foreign labor is honestly the simplest way for the state to protect workers and force these "entrepreneurs" to pay what the market actually demands. If they can't afford it, someone else will take their spot. This is especially true for the hospitality industry; we break records for tourism revenue every single year, yet I get the feeling seasonal wages are actually dropping. It's absurd, which is why I'm firmly against bringing in cheap labor for that sector.

For years, employers exploited people, and now that the tide is turning, suddenly everyone wants the government to step in. They shouldn't. Let them figure it out themselves. James Anderson5 was laughing, but let's be real—it was the employers who drove people out of the country; the government just helped along.

Justin James10 said:Anthony Jackson2, I have to say, that five-pointed star on your avatar actually looks pretty sharp! 😁

At the end of the day, market forces follow their own rules—there’s no such thing as "fair" or "unfair" when it comes to the bottom line.

Spot on—you either have a market or you don't. If you can't attract customers, you fail. That's just capitalism at work.

Begging the government for a handout? That's communism. We good?

James Anderson5 said:Honestly, about 90% of these degrees from fake business schools—especially those private ones like some overpriced local community colleges—aren't worth a dime. What did they actually earn by getting that piece of paper? And since when did we start calling ourselves a civilized nation...

It feels like doctors and nurses are some of the first ones getting shortchanged instead of service workers or waitstaff... A resident physician earns about the same as a city bus driver, which just isn't right given how things should work in America. You have some executive at a massive conglomerate in Chicago making way more than a neurosurgeon, even though most of them barely lift a finger and have a fraction of the education or responsibility. It seems like this whole system was built to create these gaps just to buy votes, which is why we end up with a political landscape that protects the status quo...

Some people are probably going to act like greedy bosses are the only reason wages are low here in America... they just can't seem to let go of that old communist mindset... 😁

Hold on a second.

So, according to this, anyone refusing to work for peanuts is a communist—while the "employers" who can't find cheap labor and beg the government for subsidies are all big-shot capitalists.🙏 🙏

That’s just how it looks to you—I read somewhere that we're actually lagging way behind the US average when it comes to the percentage of the population with higher education degrees.🤷

Take my old elementary school class, for example—out of 25 kids, only five went to college, and three of those were at a major state university. Maybe things are different in NYC, but the further you get from the big cities, the lower those numbers drop.

Nobody’s claiming this work should pay the big bucks—but what they're offering our seasonal workers isn't even a job, it's basically indentured servitude. And then these idiots act surprised when nobody shows up. If I had any say in the matter, I’d slash foreign worker quotas to the bone and let them figure it out—if you can't handle it, fail—who cares.

And the absolute best are the ones whining because "skilled labor has vanished." 🙏 These people left with actual skills and decent habits after heading off to Europe. Bullshit. While they were here, they were treated like disposable goods—paid pennies, worked to death, and told that if they didn't like it, there's always someone else waiting in line. Well, fine—go find someone else. Oh wait, now those replacements aren't "high quality" enough, so we'll just go hunting for talent in Mexico or Vietnam, because apparently, that's where the elite workforce lives. 🤣

Look, we aren't talking about a steady salary here—just hire her full-time and pay her $4,000 a month all year round. She’ll be happy, and the employer will have no trouble finding cleaners willing to take those terms. She'll work for six or seven months, then spend the rest of the year sitting at home, perfectly fine 🤷
.
We’re talking about hospitality jobs—aka seasonal work. It’s clearly normal for you to think it's okay for a woman to grind for six months straight without a single day off for $1333, only to survive on nothing for the rest of the year?

Honestly, when people with this kind of mindset and logic show up to economics lectures, it’s no wonder our country is in the state it's in.

Justin James10 said:Who on earth claimed that the pay scales in America are actually good? Where did that idea even come from? 🙄

Thinking that a janitor should be pulling in a salary of $3333 is nothing more than envious, flawed economic logic. Let’s be realistic: cleaning is a low-wage job everywhere you look, simply because it's an entry-level role that doesn't require specialized training or advanced degrees.

It seems like Americans, in general, struggle with basic economic literacy and don't quite grasp how the mechanics of an economy actually function.

Right, so in your view, a seasonal worker—who likely relies on this as their sole income all year—should just be thrilled with $1333?

A quick reality check on seasonal labor conditions: 12-plus hour days, days off are basically science fiction, and living expenses are barely covered in locations where a sandwich costs $10...

$1333, you say?

So while Austria tries to slow down the influx of cheap labor from overseas, the US—with its unemployment rates being twice as high—is actually cranking up the quotas for foreign workers 🙏

darksurfer4 said:I recently had a thread about the Kansas City Chiefs shut down on me in the history section. I was busy deconstructing how the club's die-hard supporters have been essentially rewriting their own history; according to this sanitized version they peddle, the club celebrated its centennial on February 13, 1911. It’s absurd. While a hundred years may have passed since the founding, the actual continuity of the organization was severed twice—once in 1941 and again in 1947. The first break was due to the Italian occupation, and the second happened when the communist authorities decided to forcibly merge various local sports clubs in Miami into one massive state-run athletic association. If the Chiefs hadn't merged with that local football club back then, we wouldn't be having this debate, but because that merger actually occurred, it represents a fundamental break in the club's existence.

As for the NFL Ultras, there isn't much left to say that hasn't been said before. I’ve called them fascists, thugs, and criminals, which is precisely why the authorities won't touch me🤦🤦 The NFL Ultras used to spray all over Miami with fascist symbols and swastikas; one of their so-called "achievements" was even painting a massive swastika at Hard Rock Stadium. These die-hard fans have repeatedly, and quite insanely, destroyed whatever happens to be in their path—stadium seats at Hard Rock Stadium, citizens' cars, even police cruisers and local newsstands. And I suppose I don't even need to remind anyone about their constant calls for violence against Mexicans🤔

They are constantly calling for the assassination of Jerry Jones—a man who is widely rumored to be tied to criminal activity—but it makes you wonder how these same Ultras can call for his murder while simultaneously attacking him. And when it comes to public figures, these idiot fans even attacked the legendary American athlete Misty May, who currently serves as the Undersecretary for Sports. She is actually one of the few people in this entire country standing up against Jerry Jones, whom the Ultras claim to despise, which just goes to show🤦

Do you think I'm wrong to claim that the modern-day Kansas City Chiefs are not the same entity that existed in 1911, or that the NFL Ultras are nothing more than violent, criminal fascists?🤔

I'd say

I honestly can't believe something like this was still hanging around by 2018. 🤦

Instead of actually fixing the laws back in '96 when the terms were being updated—you know, setting a timeline to phase out these practices like any sane administration would—they just rebranded everything and left the status quo untouched.

Then again, I'm guessing a huge chunk of those protected recipients were veterans or various politicians who felt they’d "served the country" enough to be untouchable—so nobody dared touch the budget. It would be nice if someone with actual expertise explained the logic here, though I’d bet anything we’re just looking at a bunch of old-school lawyers protecting their own interests. 🤔

The Hague is just as much of a joke as our own legal system—proof that even at the "highest" levels, verdicts are basically tailored to fit whatever political agenda is currently in vogue. It’s all just one big farce.
