I run this place—Alex Cook can't touch me if he tries.image
Since nobody’s piped up—and I've realized I have quite a bit of downtime over the next few days—I might just grab the lead on this one, if anyone has an objection...
graniteangler31 said:Can I go lower than England?

Sure.

Patrick Wright2 said:Man, look at this guy, Alex Cook, just pulling strings to snag Prem through some backroom deal instead of putting it out for a public tender. 🙂

While some folks are heading down to Dubai, I’m more than happy to jump in and help out if there's any workload being divvied up.

Come on—we need to get some perks too. 😬

Some of these English posts belong to Dabija—anyway, I’m ready to chip in if there’s going to be some kind of work distribution happening.

Figure it out among yourselves—doesn't have to be all three main ones.

Christian Green64 said:Since I started this thread, I feel like it’s a bit of a shame, but honestly, besides the big derbies, there wasn't much worth following this season. It just doesn't make much sense to keep it here.

Maybe interest will pick up if they overtake Ligue 1 on the UEFA coefficients again or if Porto pulls off another Champions League win, who knows.

I suspect more people will actually follow this on OL than on its own dedicated thread—just an observation.
Maybe

So you've got the Russian league—Vekjo is opening up Ligue 1, Alex Cook. Pretty much done.

Just a heads-up—the Portuguese league is heading back under the general umbrella of the other leagues, seeing as the folks on this forum haven't shown much interest in it anyway.
Let’s try being a bit constructive for once ☕

As usual during this time of year, we're looking for people to run the league threads for the 2013/2014 season

Here’s what’s currently available:
Bundesliga
La Liga
Serie A
The lower English leagues
(I’m expecting more detailed coverage for the Championship and League One—maybe League Two too—so we’ll probably need extra hands here)

Assignments will mostly be first-come, first-served—though, occasionally, someone who proved themselves last season might get priority.

Not that I have to say it—any constructive suggestions are welcome ☕

given how she responded before—I’d say you didn't really take my advice. 🙂
Larry Walker24 said:Come on, rustydrifter10—stop making things up. Moderation isn't some group vote; it’s just whatever mod happens to be online at the moment. And that idea about Partial awards being handled with "special attention"? Just a total lie.

If you actually want the truth—Partial awards only happen once all the mods are in agreement. And no, they aren't handed out easily.

Partial awards are handed out left and right on this Reddit!

The fact that you can still post in this sub is proof enough that isn't true.
Austin Harris8 said:No, it’s not okay. Permanent bans should only happen if a user explicitly asks for their account to be deleted—that's the only time a permanent ban makes sense. In any other case, it doesn't.

Permanent bans work fine—they filter out people who can't hold a conversation without breaking the rules.

The rule needs to be expanded.

Maybe a little.

The rules should include specific details regarding the bans.

🤣

They're already defined: you know how long they last, if there's a duration. You also know you can't use a different handle while banned. That covers everything.

How to return after a ban expires.

After a ban expires? If it's three days, you just come back. If it's a Partial, you come back when the mods say so. Why? Because a Partial doesn't "expire."

Ban duration and such.

When you're banned, it tells you when it ends—assuming it actually ends.

I feel bad if that isn't your reasoning, because viewing Partials as permanent bans or just things done at the mods' whim isn't good for the Reddit itself.

That's not my reasoning—it's just how it is. Ask anyone.🤷 A Partial is effectively permanent, though you get the chance to request removal after six months.

It's a fine system, since the same mods are the ones handing out the Partials. If they don't see a reason to lift it, there isn't one.

I could list everything the Partial rule fails to address, and you really have the nerve to say it's enough?🙂

You've said quite a lot 🤷

I'm telling you plainly how this works—your attempt to frame the rules to suit your own interests is your problem, not mine. It’s simple: a Partial is just like a moderator-issued ban.

To get a moderator-issued ban lifted, you need their permission.
Read what I wrote above again; everything is clearly laid out.

Let me repeat: a Partial is essentially a permanent ban, though they occasionally lift them if the moderators feel like it.

I won't repeat myself—go back to the previous post and read it, and read it a few more times if necessary.

Same goes for you. Try reading things exactly as they are written, without twisting them. 🤷

Of course, rules can't cover everything. The point is that the current guidelines regarding Partials and bans are far too thin, and I've provided facts that could be used to expand them. Expanding the rules would reduce user confusion on Reddit, rather than having users constantly asking questions about Partials, bans, and so on.

The reality is you know exactly what the rules are and how Partials work. You're trying to play the "it wasn't written down, so it doesn't apply to me" card, but nobody is naive enough to buy that.

I'm not looking for mercy from anyone; I'll just keep enjoying my arguments against you all. Besides, it's good that users will see there are plenty of loopholes in the moderation.

If we're talking loopholes, this thread should have been locked, especially since the admin told you two months ago that you can only appeal after six months.

And your only actual argument is "Vanguard 🙂"

Oh sure, you're only responding because you're bored... 🤣

Actually, yeah. What business do I have with you or this appeal? 🤷

I'm not doing this because of getting Partials lifted anymore; I'm doing it on principle—just like when I started my thread on N/A about Partials, mostly out of principle.

So, once again, you're starting a thread about lifting a Partial where you ask for a Partial to be lifted, even though you aren't actually asking for one to be lifted. 🤦
Look, I'll keep responding—civilly, logically, and with actual substance—if you guys are still interested. Not that it matters much—it’s always easier to just blame some guy on Reddit—but at least everyone else can see what's actually going on here.
What did they see? They saw you playing dumb when you clearly know exactly what's happening—trying every trick in the book to dodge a ban you rightfully earned.

Yup, that's definitely going to help you out 🤣
Austin Harris8 said:Yeah, obviously. Whether it's right or ethical for a Partial to last indefinitely—especially if you requested it yourself for whatever reason—that's the question.

Ethical? 🤣

It's fine for a Partial to be permanent. It's just an alternative to a full ban for users who behave on other subreddits. If you're only posting on one specific PDF, you won't get a Partial; you'll get a permanent ban for constant rule-breaking.

It's all laid out in one sentence:

"Partials and temporary bans requested by the user carry the same weight as those issued by administration; using alt accounts during these periods is strictly prohibited."

The fact that it doesn't mention needing to submit a formal request for removal—requiring approval from every moderator on a given PDF (even if you asked for the Partial yourself 🤣)—or that the duration is actually at the moderation team's discretion—usually six months, since they wouldn't all be six months if it weren't up to them 🤷... the fact that none of this is explicitly in the rules isn't really the point.

That's plenty. If the rules state they are treated the same, then it goes without saying. It doesn't need to be spelled out.

We're circling back to this again.

You're talking nonsense. If the rules were truly exhaustive and covered everything, admins wouldn't need to step in. Sure, an admin might be subjective, but once a decision is made, that's it. Unless the CEO himself decides to change things—but he's unlikely to go against the people he hired to run the Reddit.

Honestly, this is pointless. If I weren't bored, I wouldn't even bother replying, because this is going nowhere.

It's interesting how willing you are to twist everything just to get a Partial lifted—one you asked for yourself only two months ago. Regardless, that Partial isn't being lifted anytime soon. You're wasting your time. 🤷
Austin Harris8 said:What kind of logic is that—extreme? 🤷

Logic? If it wasn't, you’d be out of there pretty quickly—it wouldn't last. So, clearly, this isn't just some temporary fix.

The issue is that the rules regarding partials aren't clearly defined—which just leaves too much room for people to act on "goodwill."

It’s fully fleshed out—honestly. Just because you're trying to twist the facts to suit your narrative doesn't mean the logic isn't sound.

Since you’re going to insist on citing the rules so much—where exactly does it say that in the handbook? 🤷

You don't even need the rule here—the admin already made that clear.
It isn't written down because a Partial ban is effectively permanent—that six-month thing is just the admins being nice.

The rules clearly state they apply regardless of whether you submit a request or not. You should’ve thought about that beforehand.🤷
Austin Harris8 said:which is logically sound—if that's the case, then Black Velvet and my situation are basically identical. So, basically

You're dealing with two separate issues here

1. There’s nothing stating they won't grant Partials upon request—it just says permanent bans aren't being handed out. I was drawing a parallel between lifting a perm and granting a Partial, not about whether they'd be given at all. We're back to you twisting my words again.

2. You were issued a Partial after the new rule kicked in—meaning, just like any other user getting a Partial from a moderator, you're stuck waiting six months for it to be lifted.
there’s a thread on Reddit full of posts targeting you 🤷

not that it really matters—at the end of the day, the mods hold all the cards anyway.

appealing to the UN isn't your problem, so it's just stupid to try and pin those complaints on you using some nasty language.

And honestly, none of this counts until those six months are up—and even then, you'll still need the mods to give you the green light to get removed.
And you could probably come up with plenty of reasons why you shouldn't take it off

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=4...5&postcount=11

But honestly—you haven't even hit the six-month mark yet—so there's almost zero chance they'll pull that partial, just like they didn't with your last appeal.
Twisting my words just to suit your narrative isn't exactly winning you any points—it's just deflection. You’re still ignoring the fact that while the Reddit admins call the shots on site-wide bans, the moderators handle the specific subreddits. Since the admins had the power to deny a VB ban, those subreddit mods have just as much leverage to deny yours.
A partial ban is basically just a permanent ban on a specific PDF—the rules apply exactly the same way either way.

Just because you don't see something explicitly written in the Reddit rules doesn't mean it isn't the case. Admins are essentially above the rules—if they decide something, you're stuck dealing with it. Of course, I'm just talking hypothetically.

From what I've seen, this is how things work—whether you like it or not. I could be wrong, and the admins could strip a partial ban tomorrow, but I’m telling you how it is based on my experience.
The Reddit rules don't cover everything—like this whole partial thing. But I'm speaking from experience and what I've seen around here 🤷

this six-month rule has been in effect forever—didn't think I'd have to spell it out for you 🤷

driftingbear29 said:I think that could actually be a solid idea 😍

But instead of wiping everything out, maybe just the extra ones...
Then again, we wouldn't really have any control over which specific emojis get deleted... 🤔

Actually, I'll take my support back on this one... 😬

Maybe you should have started a thread with someone else, like how Joshua Evans7 and I teamed up once (🙂 🙂)

Double trouble 😍 😂

In that case, don't you ever send me a PM, because I have no idea where you'd land on a scale of 1 to 10 regarding something like this 🤣

Anyway, we don't think it's 😍 🙂 Honestly, it never even crossed my mind that emojis could bother anyone 😵 Probably because I don't see them as tacky, but rather—just as Neva said—as an emotional touch to the text... 😍 😁

Our mascot will survive 😍 And you know why? 😬
Because hamsters only see in black and white, so our colorful little emojis won't bother him at all

🙂 😂

I don't see the poll yet, BUT now I'm starting to think the results might actually turn out pretty good 🙂 😍 🙂

Neva and I were actually just talking about this yesterday, and it really is great (😍) considering how much black is everywhere else here 🙂 😬

Hopefully it won't go under if it hasn't already 😁 Though we're still waiting for someone

Why 🍿 Do you have any arguments left that haven't been made yet 😬

driftingbear29 said:
I don't think they'll actually disable colors If they did, what would the moderators 🙂

BUT 🙂 😲 They could just make it so only moderators have permission to use colors 😱 Ohhhhh, nooooooooooo

Don't do thaaaaat! 🙂 🙂 😂

Issati, I might have to report you for flooding, given how things are going

You've packed 52 images into your post. There's a 10-image limit—so you'll need to fix that before moving forward.

"Images" refers to emoticons, (image)
It’s pretty straightforward—if you want a perm removal on request, you need the admin's blessing. If you're looking to get a partial removed, you'll need the okay from that PDF's moderator.

503 and 504 are just sitting there like loaded guns ☕

There's this legend that a sysadmin once let out a sneeze while messing with the settings—and suddenly the whole site was offline for a week. And yet here you are, trying to rearrange rows in a table 🙄😬
