Was Jesus a liberal or a conservative? in Close to Politics ·
William Gonzalez3 said:where exactly does Jesus call for some violent revolution?
toppling the status quo?
and if I remember right, violent revolution is baked right into the core of communism.
he's talking about the inner world.
politics is about organizing the outer world.
so I think you're mixing things up here. he didn't come to teach people how to be leftists or rightists. he came to show them (through his life and his words) how to be decent human beings.
if we're actually going to take your dissection of Jesus seriously, then we have to admit he was both. he wasn't calling for the overthrow of the law, but rather for fulfilling it. he wasn't looking to scrap tradition or dismantle authority.
but still, he helped the needy and stood up for those everyone else ignored (kind of like a civil rights activist in the States), always preaching solidarity and stuff like that.
all in all, it's not that black and white. he was both sides of the coin.
a traditionalist (supposedly even a rabbi) and an evolutionist.

🙏 But how can you expect regular folks to grasp the idea that you can't just debate someone who actually represents God, rather than just being a man with all his human flaws.
Any attempt to link Jesus to earthly matters is impossible from the jump; the premise itself is flawed.

I seriously love watching people get triggered when they realize their whole "turn the other cheek" philosophy just makes them an easy target.
So tell me, does being honorable actually just make you a pushover?
Because if that's the case, then Jesus wasn't following the playbook. Neither were any real men.
Good for them.

wanderingmaker8 said:Like, what kind of logic? 😁I'm not buying it.

A conservative from a blue-collar family who meditates in Zen gardens and calls for revolution? Yeah... sounds sketchy.

And uh... stop looking at him like he's just some guy.
Your idea of logic seems a bit off.
Read the Bible first, then try talking about this stuff.
Don't just make sweeping generalizations.👎

Nobody sees the Spanish Inquisition coming.🤣
Look, let's be real here. Jesus is God. Period. You’re clearly obsessed with all this earthly nonsense, you clueless guy.

Honestly, Matthew Wright2’s precision puts even quantum standards to shame.
He should be the national standard for Sweden.🙂

Matthew Wright2 said:Man, 30 million!

All because of those 19 idiots.

Get outta here, you've clearly been brainwashed by extremist propaganda.

The bottom line is the terrorists failed to poison the water supply and they got what was coming to them. Those guys were taken out by Americans back in '91.😁

For Matthew Wright2, everything has some deep conspiracy behind it. He loves thinking someone is pulling the strings. Maybe someone is pulling his strings right now? Is he just lying there taking it?

So, you dealing with that too, or do you not consider yourself part of that whole crowd?

ha.

alexxx, I was being sarcastic there.
To me, that's not the case, but plenty of people in the USA—even globally—see it that way and use their laws as an excuse.
wanderingcanyon3 said:Nationalism shouldn't be confused with patriotism. People toss both terms around so loosely that any definition feels shaky, but you have to draw a line between them because they’re actually opposing ideas. To me, "patriotism" is just being devoted to your home and your way of life—believing it's the best around without feeling the need to shove it down anyone else's throat. It's defensive by nature, whether we're talking culture or military stuff. Nationalism, though? That's inseparable from a hunger for power. A nationalist's whole goal is grabbing as much clout and authority as possible, not for themselves personally, but for the nation or whatever group they've decided to lose their individuality in. Usually, that means stripping rights away from everyone else. A nationalist can pull off the most blatant lies, but since they think they're serving something bigger than themselves, they're absolutely convinced they're right. Nationalism is basically just a thirst for power fueled by self-delusion.

George Orwell

Pretty smart guy, honestly.

If you look at history, there are plenty of Brits, Germans, Americans, French, etc., who fit those exact definitions of nationalists.
Does their own people spit on them?
Did the rest of the world reject them or treat them like pariah nations?
Is Bush a nationalist?
If he is, how did he even get into power in the US, which leads the free and democratic world?
And do you actually consider those nations to be highly advanced?
Not me. In my book, only Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, and Japan really stand out from the rest on these points.

Sam Nelson3, you talking about the referendum on American independence?--that was our absolute right, just like the right to break away from the Mexican-led America. If the bigots over there didn't like it, that's their own damn problem.

Look, folks, let’s be real. This whole war actually kicked off way before '91, back when the federal government started stripping away the autonomy of places like Mexico and Vojvodina. States like Canada and the US counterparts already saw the writing on the wall and started prepping to break away from what was rapidly turning into a massive, centralized Mexican-led federation. By the way, I was visiting some relatives out in the Midwest recently and chatted with a few of their local friends; even driving around with my home state plates, it was obvious the hardline radicals didn't have nearly as much pull there as people claim. And that "Serbo-American" label you used? That's nothing more than political assault on the language. If you actually want to hear pure, old-school, untouched American English, go visit those traditional communities out in the rural heartland
and listen to how they talk. You'll see immediately how different it is from the dialect used over there.
And don't go calling our attempts at linguistic purification "linguistic masturbation" just because we're trying to clear out all those foreign loanwords—you know, the stuff that clutters up the other version of the language with constant fillers and nonsense.

Oh, sure, you Mexican geniuses have this massive chip on your shoulder regarding Turks or Muslims, so you just slaughter them and drive half a million people out. It’s the exact same complex you have toward us Americans—claiming everything we build is actually yours (just like how you treated us when we dared to break away from America)!!!!!!!.
Look at your obsession with Mexico, which you lost [though it was never really yours to begin with]. Even Mexico is running away from you [finally, the whole dream of a Greater Mexico and some massive Mexican nation is falling apart].
And now that we can finally develop our own language without interference, you show up again, thinking you can still dictate how we speak and write. Thank God I spent last summer in the Midwest, where I saw that there are actually Americans there who don't suffer from an inferiority complex compared to us.
It seems like there isn't a single neighbor you haven't tried to bully [honestly... maybe the problem is just you!?]
