Look, you absolutely have to make sure your BIOS settings are configured to allow booting from a USB hard drive or whatever similar option your motherboard offers. That USB stick is the key here, but honestly, there are endless tutorials online teaching you how to actually create a bootable drive. Just one thing—don't have anything else on that USB when you're running the installation. It needs to be a clean, dedicated bootable Windows installer. I'm talking zero music files, zero photos, nothing else cluttering it up 👍

One more thing to keep in mind: if the installer loops back to the very beginning after the first restart, you're stuck in a cycle. To fix that, during that first reboot, you need to jump straight into the BIOS and set your internal hard drive as the primary boot device in the priority list. Once you do that, the installation should proceed smoothly to completion. However, if it just keeps moving forward on its own after the restart without looping? Then don't touch a single thing.

boldranger25 said:From what I can tell, that's just a registry editor. I don't see why I'd even touch that if I just finished installing Windows and haven't even put any other software on it yet.
Look, since I don't have any other options, I'll give it a shot and let you know if it actually works.

I told you exactly what to try, so stop philosophizing with me—what's the point?
It doesn't matter if you just installed Windows; the OS itself is identical, but the hardware it's running on isn't. Do you get it now? If Glary finds an error, it'll try to fix it. It might not show up on my machine, but it could absolutely be there on yours—or vice versa. Our setups aren't identical unless you happen to be using the exact same laptop model with the exact same specs. Just try it. It won't kill you, haha.
And for heaven's sake, get rid of that RemoveWAT thing. Maybe it's blocking you from accessing the Control Panel or even just viewing your system properties, leaving everything blank. That could very well be linked to the issues you're seeing in Explorer itself.

Give Glary Utilities a shot and let me know if it actually fixes the issue for you. Download it, run the updates, perform a full scan, and
see what happens.

When you're running the installer, make sure you target the partition where your current Windows is sitting. If you don't plan on keeping the old OS, just go ahead and format it before installing Windows XP—though honestly, I have no idea why anyone would bother with XP these days. 👍

Look, you should try updating those drivers—either directly through the Windows Device Manager or just track down "Driver Genius Professional" to grab every available update currently out there at once. 👍

I think he’s really overstating things by claiming a full week is necessary for something like this. In my view, it works perfectly fine as is, but hey, that's just my two cents...
RAM running at @199MHz? Ugh... that feels like ancient history. Honestly, maybe there was some sort of upgrade involving something more modern involved somewhere along the line, I have no idea. 👍
Connection drops on slow Wi-Fi in Forum Help! ·
I guess your connection isn't actually that slow if Opera is crawling compared to Firefox, then. Honestly, this site feels like it's running on some obscure, outdated code that nobody else on the internet even uses anymore.

Try going into your extensions and disabling AdBlock first. Turn off animations too—you don't need to kill images because the site looks terrible without them—but if you have an ad blocker running, you might even need to disable things like Flash. You can manage all that stuff in Opera by hitting F12.

Just throw on some 5.1 movie and see what happens. As far as I know, most music is just recorded in stereo anyway, and there's no way your hardware can just conjure up sound for channels that weren't even recorded in the first place. I might be wrong, but I doubt it. Either way, try testing it with an actual 5.1 film file. 👍
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Technically, you can go either way, but honestly? It’s much better to just do a clean install. If you don't, the system won't even recognize them as installed packages, which means you'll be stuck when you eventually try to uninstall them later. It’s just smarter to start from scratch. That said, if you're feeling stubborn and only want a couple of specific ones, you can give it a shot, but expect some things to work perfectly while others just fail miserably. 👍

Build 6.1.6410 is just some milestone from back in September 2007, and even then, it isn't the actual winmain,
I can't find that 6400 build anywhere—honestly, where on earth did you dig that up??

If you don't even know whether your laptop actually has Bluetooth or not, then honestly, we’re all in trouble here.
Look, just go to Google and search for the exact specifications of your specific model—type in every single letter and number from its full model name. Check if Toshiba uses some proprietary software you need to download and install, or if there's a physical button on the chassis to toggle it. Better yet, check that link I posted above for the drivers...

Look, the internet is right there in front of you. Use it to actually find some answers. 🙂

dustyskipper12 said:I'm hitting a wall with this installation. I'm trying to get Windows 7 onto an Aspire One http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/10767407, which shows you the specs. I follow the standard procedure: grab the 32-bit version, set the keyboard and language settings, wipe the drive. It starts installing, everything looks fine, then it restarts. But instead of picking up where it left off, it just loops back to the very beginning—language selection and keyboard layout all over again!
I've tried this two or three times now and I am officially losing my patience. Does anyone have a clue what's going wrong here?
Thanks

Are you running the install from a USB drive?
Look, here's the deal: for that first boot, you need your USB flash drive or whatever you're using as the installer to be set as the primary boot device in the BIOS. Once that first restart happens, you need to jump straight into the BIOS and switch the internal hard drive back to the top of the boot order. If you don't, the system just keeps booting from the USB, and you'll stay stuck in this endless loop forever.👍

swiftdriver30 said:Fine, whatever... but why on earth am I burning through 750 - 800 MB of RAM when I'm literally doing nothing?

Alright then, what exactly are you doing with those 3.5GB of RAM you have? Are you expecting them to just sit there at zero usage, or are they actually meant to be used??? I mean... no comment needed.

How many miles has your mouse traveled? 😂🤣
I can't even believe this 😛
I mean, how many miles has my touchpad covered? Honestly, who cares... as long as it functions, it works.

At this rate, I'm expecting a massive thread on the forum soon: "How many miles has your mouse clocked?" followed by everyone posting screenshots of some tracking software. Go ahead, if that's what makes you people happy, for God's sake...

Look, you just need to make a bootable USB. Do a little digging on Google; there's even a Microsoft tool that handles the whole thing automatically so you don't end up screwing around in CMD for hours.
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
I honestly thought it was just a connection issue too, but there’s nothing Windows can do about this one. We're talking pure hardware failure here—it's a physical problem, plain and simple.
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Look, you should try rolling back to an older driver because "newer" doesn't always mean "better." Honestly, it might just be that your hardware speaker is dead. If you can, try swapping the speakers to see if the right one actually works on the left channel—that would tell us a lot. I'm struggling to come up with anything else smart here, except maybe a faulty cable connection. I have a similar setup wired directly to the line, and sometimes those cables just... well, they just lose contact.

Not really, sorry.

edit: here it is: windows ding

But seriously, where are you looking? Go into the system sound settings, find the default beep, click on "windows ding," scroll all the way to the top, and set the sound to "none" or whatever it says on your screen
.

Look, if you’re so miserable with your current OS, why don't you just build one from scratch? Or better yet, go find something else that actually works for you and call it a day. It’s all the same nonsense—one day it's just a rebranded version of Windows Vista, the next it's this, then it's that...
I don't see why you even care. Either get it running and move on, or if you're feeling particularly picky, just go take a walk. You've got Linux, macOS, Android, Symbian, and all those other useless pieces of junk to choose from. 😛

Look, some of us actually find this perfectly fine. If you’re so incredibly dissatisfied, why don't you just go ahead and build your own operating system from scratch? Then maybe we'll have something worth criticizing, alright?

An American lecturing me about an OS? Please. They can barely find Europe on a map—they probably think it’s somewhere in Texas.😛
