Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Look, Daniel, this thread is specifically for those of us on Windows 7. Cut the patronizing tone and stop trying to lecture us; we’re old hands at this, so good luck with that. You already have a dedicated thread for Windows XP, so why don't you go join them? Otherwise, if you're so unhappy, feel free to take it up with Microsoft or just build your own OS—why not?

By the way, Windows 7 doesn't freeze nearly as often as Windows XP used to, where it felt like the system would just stop responding constantly. So, let's move back to the XP thread. No offense intended, but you're spamming here way too much. 👍

p.s. You asking if I'd ever switch from Windows 7 back to Windows XP after two years? NEVER. Not even then. 😁

They have 64-bit technology. Does it play video any faster? No.

It's just marketing...

Buy faster hardware and everything will actually run faster. Except for video, obviously—if I'm watching my videos at 33 1/3 rpm and you're watching yours sped up at 78 rpm, I really have nothing to say to you. 👍

Well, that’s just your opinion... plenty of people don't find it any better than what's already there.☕

By the way, what are these A, B, C grades supposed to be? Where am I even supposed to see those?

granitegull51 said:Sure, it works. On my end, it’s running on a 3200+ MHz processor with 2GB of RAM.

But get this:

-7 eats up way more RAM
-7 isn't any faster—in fact, it's actually slower (even after you strip away all the flashy graphical nonsense)
-7 takes even longer to boot than Windows XP (which is the exact opposite of what they promised)
-7 isn't any more stable; it’s about the same as XP
-7 is a visual mess—cluttered and overcomplicated
-7 plays poorly with half the software out there🙂

I honestly can't find a single redeeming quality other than the RENAME function that doesn't force you to deal with file extensions...🤷 ☕

Honestly, you might be better off crawling back to Windows 98. It uses minimal resources, lacks all that useless eye candy, boots instantly, stays rock solid, and is incredibly simple and intuitive. Every program runs on it, and since viruses are practically non-existent for it, you don't even need an antivirus program installed.🤣

But seriously, stop posting such nonsense; there are kids reading this.👍

Yeah, just try dropping the game resolution a bit if it’s struggling, but definitely keep it in full screen. For crying out loud, I’m running this on an Intel HD 3200 (256MB) at 800x600 in full screen, and even with everything set to low or off and the latest patch installed, it actually runs. The only issue is that the bank robbery mission is absolutely killing me—there’s way too much police presence outside afterward—but hey, as long as the game is playable, even on this junk 😂
.
Keep this stuff in the gaming thread, not in here 👍

@Taylor Morales31/">@@Taylor Morales31--I ran the tool and it’s telling me I need an update, but apparently the program won't just do it? Do I seriously have to go out and download every single one manually, one by one?

Well, obviously you need to update. The driver database or whatever script you want to call it gets refreshed about three times a month. You could try rescanning with the default base if you really wanted to, but still,

And yeah, of course you can do it through the program—that’s literally what it’s designed for, handling everything from the search to the actual installation. Either buy the software or figure it out yourself; I'm not going to sit here and walk you through it step-by-step. 👍

Find Driver Genius Pro 10 somewhere. Figure it out. But before you even touch that, get rid of whatever driver you have currently installed because let’s be real—just because a program says it found a driver doesn't mean it's actually a good one.

Update the entire driver database before you run any kind of scan. Run the scan, look at the list of drivers it claims need an update, then download and install them manually...

What you're looking at in that screenshot isn't helping anyone; you can see for yourself right there that it's just listing "unknown" devices.
Long live the 503, especially when it’s stuck dealing with a 504 that clearly lacks any sense of spatial awareness! 🙂

Ccccc, seriously though, people, this is Windows 7,
if you actually want a Mac, just go buy one. What even is this?
A mod? 🙂

Look, just dial back the resolution in the game settings. It doesn't strictly have to be HD; try dropping it down to something a bit lower.

What a total "Master" he is—showed up with the plate but completely forgot the spoon 😂

Sure, you can just ditch the crack, but if we aren't doing that here, -> google 👍

And honestly, don't even bother trying to sync it right now. Just set it once, leave it alone, and see how it goes—it’s not going to break anything...

Also, if you haven't already, just type services.msc into your Start menu search, pull up the Services window, and check if the Windows Time service is actually running. If it isn't, just double-click it, hit "Start," change the startup type to Automatic in the dropdown menu, and click OK.

I'm still getting an error message whenever I try to sync, but since the clock is actually keeping time just fine, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Oh, one more thing—which time zone did you actually select when you were installing Windows??

Hmm, I’m getting an error message myself whenever I try to hit "Update Now" manually. But as far as I can tell, my system clock has been running perfectly fine this whole time, so I honestly didn't even realize there was a glitch in the works.

So, what actually happens when you click on the clock and date in the bottom right corner?

image

Well, you go to: Change date and time settings

image

Then hit that third tab: Internet Time

image

And then just change the settings there?

image

Is the synchronization box checked, and is the server set to: time.windows.com??

There is absolutely no way 500MB works. That isn't even enough to run the OS, let alone actually launch any programs.

If you can get your hands on an untouched version, do it. There isn’t some "superior" edition out there—it’s either the original or it’s just someone's messy DIY project. 👍
Once again, I find myself wondering if my relationship with this site was a mistake, but since there’s no turning back now, I might as well stick around. It's not just us—even massive international platforms with over 2 million members run into these glitches. This isn't some local issue with a small niche site; it's happening globally. Still, we love this place, even if it's a bit messy and has a habit of testing my patience more often than I'd like, haha.

Paul Lopez49, seriously, what’s your deal? Are you American or British?? I have mine set to American and I don't see any issue with it, but hey, that's just my two cents. hehe👍

Just type this into the search bar

msconfig

hit enter on that, then head over to the startup tab and adjust your settings
We really ought to track down a specialist for these servers 😂

I sit down to read through this thread, get ready to type out a response, realize I’m not logged in, go through the login process, start typing again, only to find out I'm still not logged in... then it happens again, and again, and again. Seriously, what is going on here? Who is actually running this site?? Ugh, unbelievable.
