See, this guy would probably sell them to you for $0.50 per pound, or even less for second grade. For juice, you can even use industrial grade stuff, which goes for only $0.17 a kilo.

I heard they have lower grades going for pennies over in the Midwest...

So, providing subsidies to the agricultural industry isn't the issue for this country. The real headache is the distribution process itself. When you look at how those funds are actually handed out, the level of corruption and mismanagement makes the scandals at major state-owned corporations look mild by comparison.

Why not just cut the sales tax on farming supplies? That would actually help the hardworking farmers instead of the scammers who don't care, and we could skip all the soul-crushing bureaucracy entirely....

An independent farmer who isn't part of the VAT system ends up paying more in taxes on their supplies than they ever see back in federal subsidies. It's a joke.

And seriously, take a look at grain prices on the commodities exchanges right now. Farming is actually going to be pretty lucrative in the near future.

A buddy of mine used to pull shifts on a construction site just as a general laborer, making about $15 an hour.

The company was owned by some local guys, so the whole crew was basically all Americans. If the process for moving to Germany were actually made that easy, way more people would be packing their bags to go work there.

Back when I was a kid, I used to get gifts from Saint Nicholas. Before the 90s hit, we’d even get a little something from the company for New Year's.

As far as all this consumerism talk goes, Ivković wrote the best piece on it about a month ago. Honestly, everyone whining about spending is just looking for a way to redirect that cash into their own pockets.
