copperdrifter26 said:Check out this interview with the Prime Minister from the Sun. Honestly, the guy has become so incredibly smug and arrogant that reading his quotes is painful, let alone actually watching him. He acts like he’s doing everyone a favor just by interacting with them. It’s honestly no surprise that his main right-hand men in the party have turned into Nyonja and Coric (who, if we're being real, might actually end up even more full of himself than the PM).

Yeah, yeah... but I see people using that "in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man..." quote all over this forum lately.

I mean, look, it’s pretty sad that out of maybe 4 or 5 million people, we don't have any real competition for the leadership.
Bero or Plenković
technocrat vs. the new guy

(Honestly, it would've been better if the elections were a year away given how things are right now, you know?)

Death means there's no more life.

"Comfortable" can mean anything—it all depends on how you live your life and...

just for being alive. Like, actually being born
That’s when you start hitting a whole different level of understanding existence
Chris Mendoza3 said:Wisdom without courage is useless, and courage without wisdom? That's just plain madness.

True enough.

But what good is all that bravery if they're just sitting around idling away their lives or getting lost in meditation?

Look, if that lifestyle brings someone actual purpose and happiness, then more power to them—but it's not for everyone, obviously.
It’s no surprise they go looking for followers when they can't find any real meaning on their own.
restlessdriver said:I think this idea of being "carried by life" is just a clunky way of putting it. We're all essentially drifting through existence, but true happiness comes from those who accept both the struggles and the triumphs without question, seeing them as inseparable parts of the journey. People like that don't have time to sit around complaining...

I meant being driven by instinct.

What those gurus do—especially the Eastern types, but Western ones too—is live in a way where they aren't actually living.
They overthink every single move and try to find some deep meaning in everything.
Obviously, even a wise person doesn't have all the answers and they still mess up... it really just depends on how much of a "guru" they're trying to be... or their level of wisdom.
Nicole Barrett76 said:Every individual who exerts such immense energy to hunt for life's meaning is actually being obstructed by a massive force known in India as Maya, which Christians refer to as the Devil.

For me, I simply cannot exist without this pursuit of purpose. To my eyes, those who merely drift through life seem nothing more than parachutists caught in the wind.

I'm mostly on board with the whole interference thing—it shows you're actually starting to grasp how reality works.

The thing is—most people aren't even looking for meaning in the first place.
Check out these forum threads—people's interests are actually pretty wild. Significant stuff.
David Vaughn75 said:But man, what if life actually turned out way better if you just let someone else handle the tailoring?

Honestly, most people don't even know their own purpose—they're just happier when they let life take the wheel and go with the flow.

If you're out there actively hunting for meaning, you haven't found it yet.
There's always something getting in the way.

I mean, what does Glasnović actually know about modern-day challenges, other than rambling on about those old-school zombies from the Cold War era?! Today's right wing is still stuck obsessing over Marshall and the old regime, which honestly isn't even provocative enough to get a reaction out of their own base anymore.

I'm with you—they just don't have any real intellectuals.

By the way, do you really think those so-called identity groups (the populists) in the European Parliament actually have a clue what they want or a vision for Europe?

Plenković basically embraced pure demonization—it’s clearly the best move for the Republicans, otherwise they’d just be some niche nationalist movement. Too bad things change so slowly, which eventually messes with the whole country.

Sean Ruiz33 said:Essentially, we’re looking at an election where you have to choose between the Democratic Party—who are basically just rebranded communists—or the Republican Party, which functions more like a group of liberals. It feels like we're just picking the lesser of two evils at this point. If the right wants to actually matter, they need to step up and establish themselves as a legitimate third option. People like Škoro, Kovac, Stier, Brkić, Esih, Hasanbegovic, and Glasnovic really ought to consider forming a unified front if they want to see any real change.

I doubt it—that kind of "identity sovereignty" populism just doesn't fly here in the States.
Even Škoro is a question mark when it comes to making any real dent in the polls.

The Bridge party might have a shot if they run solo, since they're a bit more tactical than the rest.

The constant grinning and staring right into the lens just gave him away.

Lisa Perez50 said:This whole "inside the Fox News evening news" segment is a joke. They really should have just slotted in a solid 60-minute special right after the main broadcast, maybe from 7:15 to 8:15 PM. Half an hour isn't nearly enough time to actually say anything intelligent. Plus, they don't even have sports on right now—it's just endless COVID updates. A longer slot would have fit perfectly into the schedule.

It’s a winner takes all situation anyway. The big players are already on the field.
Just imagine Koch as President and his inner circle dealing with a massive virus outbreak.
And then there's the economy, international alliances, the global stage...
Now is definitely not the time for some amateur experiment.

Of course, if by some miracle they pull it off, the administration will probably collapse before autumn and be nothing more than a caretaker government.

I know this isn't exactly your cup of tea, and you probably don't have the bandwidth to dive into it right now, but... those old-school Democrats were actually quite successful at what they did. 😁

You'd have to look at the budget then versus now... besides,
What could he even do after all that privatization went down?

But I'm genuinely curious—who would even dare to go full neoliberal in today's America?
The so-called "economic right."
They’re always the "top experts" (usually just guys from big finance) when they start pushing it as the magic fix.

Anyway. Smith doesn't have a clue about economics—doesn't say a word about it—yet he’s acting like he could be Prime Minister. (Or maybe not... honestly, there's a whole crowd on the right who act like they'd be leaders when they wouldn't last a day.)

Sam Wright21 said:I know exactly what’s going on here; I haven't actually sat down to watch or read any of it, despite how much buzz it seems to be generating.

It boils down to a symbiotic relationship, doesn't it? I still haven't quite figured out why I have such a weakness for those third-tier vampires—the ones who act like needy, clingy toddlers. I suppose I get something out of it, but what? Maybe just a fleeting sense of hope? 🤔

That said, if you find yourself being blindsided by a vampire, calling it a "symbiotic relationship" feels like a bit of a stretch. But then again, that's just how they play it in the movies. In real life, you can always fight your way out.

It's always like that if you don't show them they can actually hurt you.
Applies to pretty much any dominant type.
Obviously, if we're talking serious criminal stuff, just run.

People are either naive or they just enjoy being told what to do... I don't see any other way it works.
Of course, picking on the weak is a whole different story.

Spot on—it's all about that dark side or the ID stuff.

But honestly, what does it even mean to be a good person?

That Ken Wilber guy wrote all about the spiral of ascent—you know, spiritual evolution...

Jose Collins86 said:Granted, there is one redeeming quality to Andrej Plenković’s victory. Under his leadership, the Republican Party is sliding toward a dismal 17-18 percent—having already hit a record low of 22 percent during the European elections—while the Right is actually gaining ground, climbing toward the 20-25 percent range. Consequently, it is highly probable that the incoming Prime Minister will be someone from the Right (most likely Miroslav Škoro), whereas a win for Kovač would have bolstered the Republican Party back up to 25 percent, ensuring that Kovač and the Republicans would hold both the premiership and the role of senior coalition partner.

Honestly, ideology is way overrated on the Right... and even among Americans in general. (I mean, let's be real, right?)
Plenković has some results under his administration—nothing mind-blowing, but he's got stuff to show for it.
It's tough to follow Kovač when he talks—he keeps cutting himself off, which makes him look unsure, like he's just not Prime Minister material.
Now I'm genuinely curious about what the other Republican candidates are like.
