Sam Wright21 said:That’s quite something. Though, I suspect you’re facing the same shortage of childcare slots we are; it isn't just some localized issue in New York City, but rather a systemic headache plaguing the entire USA.

Look on the bright side—living in an area where there's a shortage of childcare actually means people see a future there. It shows folks want to build careers and start families in your neck of the woods, which ultimately fuels the local economy and your own professional growth.
Just imagine if there wasn't a demand for daycare at all.
From what I understand, the problem often stems from trying to raise "standards" in a way that actually shrinks the number of available slots. Even as birth rates fluctuate, this creates a massive gap between what parents need and what's actually available.
Here’s a little free advice for Senf and the crew: why don't they follow the Kerum model and open a massive daycare center in the arena with 500 to 1,000 spots? They could let Lovrić and his team handle the childcare duties.🍿

They brought on 23 new hires recently, but 19 of them quit within five days of starting. Honestly, he’s betting that the remaining four won't last much longer either.
If things don't turn around fast, we're looking at a total garbage meltdown in New York City.

If Bill de Blasio were still around, he probably would've just eaten the trash himself to solve the problem.🙂

What kind of measures should be applied to him?

First, track him down, then move him, then keep him isolated.😁

But what if the guy just wants to do things his own way?

Maybe he was dealing with a CDC-level condition, like that guy being blamed as the "mastermind" who spread COVID like Santa Claus.🍿

Charles Howard74 said:About 24% of the population in South Africa has been vaccinated, and according to one source, "allegedly" they tracked down the mastermind behind it all. This guy actually had HIV, so his immune system was basically non-existent. Then he caught COVID, and man, that virus tore through him like a wrecking ball in a glass factory. He just took that whole chaotic hacking style and started applying it to everyone else.

In London, you get about 700 passengers arriving daily from Africa.

jadetinker85 said:What's your point there?

The goal is herd immunity. What exact percentage of the population needs to be vaccinated to reach that threshold?

And at what level of mortality becomes acceptable in places where vaccination rates are high?

Trying to reach herd immunity with a vaccine this ineffective is like trying to fill a bucket with a massive hole in the bottom.
Can anyone run the actual math here to show what percentage of coverage is required to achieve true herd immunity?
Just eyeballing it, it feels like we’d need about 230%, give or take 30%.
Looks like we’re breaking the laws of physics at this rate.☕

Do we even know how many doctors are refusing the shots?
They aren't being coerced, right?
It’s a total contradiction.
Honestly, I bet quite a few of them just flush their doses down the toilet whenever they get the chance. If it were up to me, I’d probably do the same for my whole family.

Once they start trying to shove needles into kids' sinuses every single day—or heaven forbid, somewhere else (China actually tried that)—or when they start imposing lockdowns (like in Oz or Art), standing your ground against all that pressure is going to feel a lot more intuitive.
It's a complete non-starter.

And all of this happens while the media is firing on all cylinders and teachers and professors are constantly pointing fingers at you...

Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of soul-searching regarding my purpose and what I owe to the community. When I look back at my contribution to this country, it feels pretty thin—just paying taxes, a year of service in the Army, a couple of speeding tickets, and the occasional local cleanup or charity drive. It’s made me think about the deeper themes found in the Bible, specifically the Old Testament, and the story of Abraham, who was willing to offer his most precious possession, his firstborn son, to God. It really puts things into perspective. If he could do that, what am I supposed to do to show my devotion to my country, the Republican Party, the Holy Season, our underpaid essential workers, and Vilije Beroš? Honestly, all I have left to offer is the strength of my children. That’s why I cast my vote in favor of the vaccination (admins, feel free to double-check my entry!).
Bring it on, Vili. Three innocent little shoulders are waiting for you!

swiftotter46 said:Wait, I’m lost now too... there’s no way the gap is this massive.

How does this even work?

Looking at the data from June 10, 2021:

960 million people received a shot, but only 490 million are fully vaccinated.

That adds up to 1.45 billion doses administered.

So how on earth did they use 2.3 billion doses?

It's impossible that nearly a billion people died, so these numbers clearly don't add up.😕

Who knows? Maybe those extra doses just ended up being injected into the muscles of guys who spend all their time grabbing a Budweiser, grilling some brisket, and shopping for toaster coupons at Target.☕

What exactly is the shock factor here? I’m not following. Are we really acting surprised that someone might grab a snack or a drink during an 8, 12, or even a 24-hour shift?

I’m just trolling, honestly—who can really blame someone for acting a little unconventional? I've already picked up a few strikes for it.

It feels like everyone is just throwing kids under the bus lately, all in some misguided attempt to protect a version of the past that clearly isn't coming back. We’ve been watching this same failed cycle play out for over a year now, and it's becoming pretty obvious that these sacrifices aren't actually saving anything.
Today's kids—and by extension, the very future of our society—are the biggest victims of this pandemic. Even though they aren't the ones being directly hit by the virus, and shouldn't even be feeling the indirect fallout, they’re paying the highest price. Think about it: education and social interaction are the bedrock upon which we build our entire future. Replacing that with Zoom classes, banning sports teams, cutting off travel and field trips, and shutting down community centers, cafes, and clubs is nothing short of a catastrophe. On top of that, constantly making children feel guilty for just existing is devastating. This has been dragging on for two years now, especially when you factor in the strikes from our supposedly "empathetic" teachers. It's a mess.
When it comes to raising our kids, we aren't doing it to turn them into future psychopaths or lazy people with zero intellectual drive. Honestly, as long as they don't end up like that, I couldn't care less about anyone else.

All this nonsense about how "our hands are tied" is—well, it’s just pure nonsense.

But what happens if people wear masks during the day, then head out to a park to kiss and hug when they think nobody's looking?
How on earth are we supposed to prevent that?🍿

urbantinker8 said:No, I don't think it works quite the way you're describing it.
They’re kissing and hanging out everywhere, and they're constantly without masks. A lot of them aren't wearing them at all because their parents back them up, and we don't really have any way to "force" them to actually put them over their mouths.
There are plenty of other little details too, but I suspect you wouldn't be much interested in hearing them, given that you're just passing by a High School and think you know the deal.

No offense meant, but education clearly isn't your calling. Handing children over to someone with your mindset would be a total disaster.
You might have better luck building a career in a prison camp in North Korea instead.
I can only hope that the Big Brother types who spend their days hunting people down on Facebook are keeping an eye on this forum, too.

President Biden said The Administration is going to hash out whether we need to roll out the C-model nationwide

Word on the street is that high schoolers and older middle schoolers in the NYC area—minus the seniors—might be heading to Zoom classes this Monday. Nothing's set in stone yet, obviously, but we're hearing it’ll likely get the green light at the local Headquarters this Friday. If it happens, students would be stuck on the C-model through Thursday, right before the spring break kicks in on Friday.

Give me a break. After two years of dealing with strikes and sexual abuse scandals, they're suddenly worried about how this affects kids' mental health?

I was just having a conversation with my wife about how our middle child is going to miss out on his 8th-grade field trip.
The last two years have been such a drag for kids his age, and now he’s missing that chance to even say goodbye to his friends before they all head off to high school.
Does anyone know if there's any kind of support coming for his generation—maybe something like virtual travel experiences or online trips?
