Jason Campbell70 said:So how did "genius" Fernando Alonso manage through '10 or '12?

Pure racer vs. points scavenger—I’ll take the racer every single time.
And there goes Alonso again—spending the end of '12 just hunting scraps.
He basically played himself into a corner where he wasn't even in control anymore.

And where was Lewis Hamilton during those 2010 and 2012 seasons with all that raw speed?
Especially in 2012, when he had the fastest car more than once...

Sure, he’s way more exciting to watch, but let's be real: Alonso's playing-it-safe approach actually paid off way more than Hamilton's "win at all costs, regardless of the consequences" style.

Jason Campbell70 said:Lewis Hamilton relies on himself.
Nico Rosberg relies on Lewis Hamilton.

And that's the whole point.

Look at the stats from early 2007 until now...
Hamilton has 26 wins and 22 DNFs... it's almost a wash.😁
Rosberg has 5 wins and 17 DNFs...

No matter how you slice it, Hamilton was driving better/faster/more expensive cars, so logically they should have been more reliable, not less...

Everything you're saying holds up and I agree, but then there's that stupid final race...
If Hamilton hadn't predictably DNF'd in that race, you'd be arguing that even if Rosberg had 4 or 5 wins and Hamilton had at least 10, Rosberg would still be the champion.

Jason Campbell70 said:By the way, what’s the win ratio for the races where Lewis and Nico actually finished?

Seven races in, and Lewis Hamilton still has more wins than everyone else combined.

Look, that's not even the point...
Man, just look at that 2012 season 😉
I watched it the other day and was honestly floored that those numbers were even possible...

Check out Rosberg vs Michael Schumacher in the races they both finished😳
7 to 2 for Schumacher, and even then, Rosberg took 93 points while Schumacher got 49. 😳

That tells you everything you need to know...
The issue is that Rosberg is basically an Alonso type...
Not quite the same level of raw talent, but he's definitely right up there when it comes to racing IQ.

Man, Massa and Perez 😳

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f8YrWb7i_Q

Honestly, Vettel handled that perfectly. I have zero clue how he managed to dodge Massa while simultaneously clipping him and jerking to the right...
But the interesting part is that he was actually right on Rosberg's tail, just like the rest of the pack...

I’m pretty sure both Vettel and Massa would've taken him out without a second thought if Massa and Perez hadn't collided first.😳

DRS gives you maybe 5-6.2 miles/h, and everything else is just pure engine difference...

Does anyone actually think Nico Rosberg is faster or better than Lewis Hamilton?

Anyone?
Seriously, no trolling.

The answer to this tells you everything.
Everything.

Better at grabbing a title, sure. Faster? Not even close.
Dead serious.

May, year of our Lord 2014 - Rosberg is a fraud 😳
June, year of our Lord 2014 - Rosberg is a lucky winner 😳
First he's a total cheat, then suddenly he's the luckiest guy alive...
November, year of our Lord 2014 - Rosberg is the biggest lucky fraud in history, bigger than a massive storm
😵🙂😠

Rosberg's a hero, not a criminal ☕

crimsonstag84 said:You clearly aren't getting it. Lewis's brakes were shot because he was pushing like a maniac to make passes in the first half. If Rosberg had kept running with that same brake balance and driving style, his brakes probably would've given out in five or ten laps. He only adjusted his setup and how he was driving after Lewis retired—just listen to the team radio.

That’s only because iRacing doesn't even account for tire wear or brake degradation, so you're basically just guessing. 😛

Come on, use your head...
If Hamilton’s brakes were acting up because of this or that during a specific window, why exactly is that happening?
Did Hamilton just wreck his own brakes, or did someone else absolutely nail him in a corner?

Which kid hasn't tried to dive past Rosberg through the pit lane by pulling two blistering laps—an in-lap and an out-lap—even though he’s clearly fast enough to smoke him? Instead, he just keeps trying to muscle his way ahead with late braking and absolutely destroying his brakes in the process.

ruggedhawk20 said:If you're just trolling, fine. But if you actually believe Williams, Force India, and McLaren are way better than Red Bull Racing, you've got some serious judging issues. You're a fun guy to chat with, but someone really needs to set you straight.

Red Bull is currently the second-best car.

McLaren truth, Force India, and Williams have better engines—but a car isn't just an engine.

Besides, McLaren is basically a junker that only stays ahead of the Caterhams because of that engine.

I agree that Red Bull showed they're the second-best car so far, and they'll be that again in Austria.

But in Canada, they had a massive issue with straight-line speed... honestly, Red Bull didn't stand a chance against any of those other cars we saw. The only reason they ended up ahead was because of Perez's struggles, while all those other cars could have easily overtaken Red Bull...
Another thing: they all ended up stuck in a DRS train where nobody actually had a real advantage. If Ricciardo and Vettel hadn't been lacking DRS, they would've blown past those Williams cars like they were standing still...
Plus, I'm convinced the Williams guys only stayed behind them because of poor driving; they definitely had the pace.☕
Bottas had his issues, but let's be real—Massina should have won this without mercy, and he blew it himself.

As for McLaren, I agree with what was said, but my point stands: they had a huge advantage thanks to that engine...

crimsonstag84 said:They basically gave Rosberg a quick heads-up on what to do once Hamilton's stuff failed. It happened right after Hamilton tried to hunt down Rosberg earlier—if he hadn't been chasing him, they probably wouldn't have had to step in.

Not true.
Both their MGU-K units died at the same time. The difference was that Rosberg called it early and shifted his brake balance to the front, while Hamilton kept pushing Rosberg, trying to out-brake him with later and harder braking points...

By the way, the brakes this season aren't nearly as robust as in previous years. They’re constantly relying on the MGU-K to help slow the car down, so the brakes take a beating since the car isn't actually designed to function properly without the MGU-K. Plus, there's the weight issue.
That's one of the massive headaches when the MGU-K dies; finishing the race becomes almost impossible because the brakes can't handle it, not to mention the fuel consumption issues...
What Rosberg did was a lightning-fast, smart reaction. Mad respect to him for that. 👍

darkmarlin16 said:Rosberg’s got more luck than brains. Honestly, the guy somehow manages to turn his own screw-ups into a win. It's ridiculous. 🙄
He’s just never going to catch a break.

Comparing Prost to Rosberg is pure blasphemy.

Once upon a time... or whatever.
When Rosberg saw that breakdown coming, he backed off to try and salvage what was left. Sure, he had a hell of a time dealing with Perez hanging on his tail and holding up the pack, but let's be real—he wasn't out there trying to outrun the entire field all at once.

On the other hand, Hamilton went out there in a car with zero brakes just to hunt down Rosberg because he heard the guy was struggling—even though he knew his own situation was way worse.
Then he has the nerve to lecture us about how he had to retire because his car overheated. Oh, sure, because he was tailgating Rosberg so closely. It didn't even cross his mind to just back off, create a two or three-second gap, and try to salvage a few points? No, of course not. He had to charge for the win in a junker.

And here’s the funny thing: you, being the ultimate Alonso superfan, keep crying about "luck." Personally, as someone who can't stand the guy, I’m convinced he would’ve done exactly what Rosberg did—just grab whatever points he could get and run. He wouldn't have played the hero like some martyr; he would've been just as cutthroat as anyone else.

And why should I even care?🤷>
I’d only care if he hadn't tried to pass him or if they’d actually ordered him to stay back...

That RB strategy is giving me a headache, though. Honestly, what is their deal?😕>
They screwed themselves by staying one or two laps behind Hulkenberg; if they’d just pitted and come back out, they would’ve been right ahead of Vergne at the front of the pack.
They could have easily grabbed a couple of points, but the dumbest part was watching them try to cover Bottas when it was obvious he was just stuck in traffic behind three cars that weren't even moving any faster than Hulkenberg...

No, not at all. There was zero advantage gained.🤣

Once a year, I decide to sleep in like a total amateur and send my forecast at 8:30 AM.🤣
And that’s exactly why I end up losing out on second place and moving on... turns out I don't actually have to wake up early for the next 2014 tournament if I'm this lazy.🤣

Anyway, congrats on making the cut.👍

jadeseal7 said:You keep talking about it, yet they’re constantly on the podium "chasing" Mercedes-AMG. So, damn it, who's actually right?

The rest of the races were flawless for two or three teams. I mean, come on...
It’s not even much of a debate at this point, but seeing them out there just proves how massive the gap actually is between the Renault and Ferrari cars and the Mercedes-AMG.🙂
Nico Rosberg’s MGU-K just died on him—gone, 160 fucking horsepower just vanished. And yet, he still managed to limp across the finish line, which is honestly impressive given his fuel consumption issues. To top it all off, he actually landed on the podium. Unreal.😳

Even in this race, Williams was miles ahead of Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, just like in Formula 1. Honestly, it’s just embarrassing how Williams shot themselves in the foot, and since both Formula 1 teams completely tanked during qualifying, they had to try those desperate, half-baked tactical gambles.
McLaren? Honestly, those guys have no clue what they're doing.🤷

Vettel's reaction to Ricciardo's win 👍
Looks like he actually likes Ricciardo and was genuinely stoked for him 👍

The real question is how long that lasts 😬
2014 Canadian GP - Montreal (June 8) in Formula 1 ·
I can't even begin to wrap my head around this. It’s just... wow. Absolute madness. kaže:
Are you talking about Ricciardo or Vettel?😉
Looking at that photo, I’m pretty sure Sebastian Vettel needs to light some candles and thank God, Mass, and whoever else was watching over him just to be glad he actually finished the race.😲

A little bit of this, a little bit of that... and then everything just goes south.
Let's be real: Red Bull Racing wasn't exactly aiming for anything higher than 7th place, and even that feels like a stretch.
