2010 Spanish Grand Prix - Barcelona Circuit in Formula 1 ·
Can someone give me a quick rundown of the race? Also, what exactly went down with Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel? 🤷

You McLaren fans need to take a look in the mirror—would you actually be complaining if this happened to Lewis Hamilton?

When a driver is exiting the pits, their only job is to get moving and make sure they don't stall. Looking left, signaling, making sure pedestrians clear the crosswalk—that’s the lollipop man's job. If they didn't penalize the Hamilton-Vettel situation where they were intentionally driving parallel and squeezing each other through the pit lane, I don't see why Alonso should get hit for moving when there's literally a non-driver responsible for watching the gap and releasing people safely. 🤷

It’s definitely stupid to penalize Alonso for this without more info.☕
The lollipop man is at fault here, but he could have easily seen what was happening.
Penalizing him would be pure idiocy. He didn't gain an advantage, didn't hurt anyone; it's just pointless shoving for no reason.

And saying this has anything to do with the Hamilton-Vettel situation? Please. Stop comparing apples to oranges.🙄

Lewis Hamilton exiting the pits and the shoving match between him and Sebastian Vettel was a fight for race position. It matters who gets out first.😉

You can't even theoretically compare a qualifying exit to that. It barely matters if Lewis Hamilton hits the track slightly before or after Nico Rosberg; nobody cares.

It would’ve been way funnier if he just kicked a pony in the ass. 😬

Yeah, I know he isn't🙂

Just messing around, but it kind of reminds me of the good old days—everyone getting penalized except for Ferrari.🤣

I was literally just about to type 🤣

They slapped Ferrari with a fine, too http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/83436 but obviously left Alonso alone 😍

It’s like Max rejoined the FIA or something 🤣 😂

You watch qualifying and then—bam—a mountain of penalties right after.😂

Thomas Morales13 said:There's some truth to that, but if they don't blow it at the start, nobody's catching them—not even if they had a rocket engine on the straights.👍

They could, though. If their tires fall apart or they're forced into an extra pit stop, we won't know for sure because nothing has been predictable so far. We've seen three absolute chaotic messes and one race where everyone just played it safe.

Bottom line: if it doesn't rain at the United States Grand Prix, that's when we'll actually see who's got the real pace.

Qualifying went fine. If the race stays normal, we'll finally have our answers.
Everything else up to this point—including Red Bull's 1-2 finish—was just a result of the weather chaos, not actual car performance.

Joshua Newman2 said:Look, when you're talking car speed, you have to look at the whole lap, not just the straights. That stupid HRT is the second fastest car on the straight, yet they're a dozen seconds off on the total lap time. Red Bull obviously isn't the king of the straights, but since they're the fastest overall, it means they make up all that lost ground in the corners. You can't blame the car for what you're describing. If you're faster overall and faster in the turns, how can someone right behind you on a straight just start attacking? Only if you screwed something up somewhere...

Yeah, sure, Red Bull having the fastest lap isn't up for debate.🙂
If they didn't, they wouldn't be leading qualifying. But they struggle on the straights because you can't overtake in the corners—no car is that dominant.🤣
The real issue is that Red Bull can't keep up with the rest of the pack on the straights, and they have zero chance of overtaking under braking because they're still playing catch-up to reach them. Honestly, if they add that F-duct mid-season and get even more straight-line speed, this season is going to be incredibly boring. Even for me. Red Bull could become disgustingly dominant, and I've got a feeling they've already jumped ahead of everyone else. Once that F-duct shows up, that gap is just going to widen.

Joshua Newman2 said:Red Bull has the fastest car. I don't care about the qualifying vs. race debate; you can't have an advantage this massive in one and not the other. They lost three out of four races, sure, but that wasn't because they were slow—it was breakdowns, bad strategy, and driver errors. Regardless of where they sit in the constructors' standings right now, everyone knows who Sauron is this season.

I’m not so sure about that. Look, Red Bull did drop out of races due to mechanical failures and sheer stupidity, but even then, McLaren was catching them and passing them on track. Don't forget that McLaren was overtaking Mark Webber on the circuit, while he couldn't touch Jenson Button in Bahrain. Even Fernando Alonso was breathing down Sebastian Vettel's neck before that breakdown. Whether he actually could've passed him is a huge question mark, but generally speaking, Red Bull struggles to overtake anyone because they lack top-end speed. That’s a massive handicap when you're trying to defend a position.

Unless Red Bull does something drastic with that F-duct or finds more top speed—which I doubt they can do without breaking something else—they won't be nearly as dominant as they look. They might rule qualifying for a while, but once the race starts, anything can happen.

Arthur Doyle70 said:Look, the thing is, Red Bull is actually better in qualifying compared to the rest of the field right now than Brawn was this time last year. McLaren has actually caught up in development—and they started from absolute garbage. This time we’re sitting at second in performance. We'll catch Red Bull; the only question is whether we can do it before the season ends...🤷

Yeah, exactly. Red Bull dominates qualifying, but races are a different story. Brawn was dominant in races and just decent in qualifying. As a fan of Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel, I'm not sweating Ferrari one bit. My only real concerns are McLaren and McLaren GP; those two might actually pull an upset before the season wraps up.😉

All in all, it was a boring race with this result:

Sebastian Vettel takes the championship lead
Red Bull jumps ahead of Ferrari and is breathing down McLaren's neck in the constructors' standings

Joshua Newman2 said:Red Bull isn't just fast; they're a total powerhouse. They've been cleaning up pole positions all season long, which tells you everything. Now we just wait to see when the drivers and the crew actually sync up enough to turn that raw pace into a massive points lead.

Sure, but I don't recall Red Bull looking this untouchable during practice before, especially compared to their times last year. These gaps are wild.😉

If things stay this way for the rest of the races, expect Vettel's PP to land somewhere around 1.17.200.😁

Red Bull is predictably fast as hell: just Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher (!!!) within a second of each other.

What kind of weird era is this? 😁

Whoa, they're even faster than the 2009 qualifying times. Interesting. Back in 2009, practice sessions were around 1.21 or 1.22. Did they change the track layout or is Red Bull just even faster than before?😍

I’m looking at a massive showdown between McLaren and Red Bull. Expect Hamilton and Vettel fighting for Pole Position, then Vettel trailing Button by the finish.

Hoping Renault shows some teeth again so I can feel that same pride I had after China.
With any luck, that means a new podium for Kubica.

It’d be great if we get some rain in Barcelona, otherwise, we’re just watching a parade from start to finish.

Personally, I’m eyeing a finishing order somewhere like this:

1.Rosberg
2.Vettel
3.Kubica
4.Schumacher
5.Alonso
6.Webber
7.Petrov
8.Hamilton
9.Sutil
10.Massa

Honestly, I think McLaren and Ferrari might struggle to even scrape into Q3. 🤷

Expect MGP to absolutely dominate and Renault to be incredibly strong.🙂

So here’s the breakdown on why Webber and Vettel’s first stops took forever and how they ended up tanking down to 15th.😢

Unfortunately Mark whacked The front Jack man, damaging his front wing and the jack which then had to be replaced. That cost him time and ultimately Seb time at the first pitstop.

Wait, what even is a "front jack man"? Did he seriously run over one of the mechanics? 😲
I completely missed that during the broadcast. 🤷
