Are you practicing for Alonso's comeback already? 🙂
Keep practicing, man, you're gonna need it. 😁

And just to back up our buddy Kenneth Cruz67, he's gonna need it too...

Edward Stewart said:That sounds great, though I didn't have access to e-Verify when the IRS Online portal first went live, so my only real option back then was using an IRS Tax Transcript and their specific hardware key.

Exactly, that isn't mentioned in any of the paperwork; they didn't tell me anything when I set up my e-Verify, so I went ahead and bought a card reader myself, even though I see now that it wasn't strictly necessary—but honestly, a one-time expense for something so incredibly useful isn't such a huge grievance.
What truly stands out, however, is how the bureaucracy continues to demonstrate just how incompetent, arrogant, and fundamentally hostile they are toward the very citizens who fund their existence. It is rather striking that the entire IRS Online project was funded by the European Union, yet these officials would likely continue to harass us with endless paperwork and redundant stamps for years just to justify their own bloated numbers.

It’s literally unbelievable...
But the system works perfectly. You can handle basically any document you can think of on there. If everyone actually used Login.gov, those government offices wouldn't even need to exist...

All you really need in town is a PC, an ID reader, and a printer...
That computer handles everything with every possible official, which is probably why they stay quiet about it...
And don't even get me started on our journalists. They acted like they discovered fire during COVID, rambling about how "thanks to the pandemic," you can finally get certain things done online.
For crying out loud, this stuff has been fully functional for five years already. 🤦
Nicholas Newman2 said:If I'm following the logic here:
-The cherry tree represents everyone who thinks differently.
-Voluntarily moving ten feet to the left means accepting an explanation.
-Twenty years is the timeframe where absolutely nothing changes.

It would make more sense to say:
-The tree can't be moved; Mother Nature made it that way, defying all belief.😁
-Moving left, or in any direction you want, is clearly an illusion—even to someone with bad eyesight.🤔
I mean, when has anyone actually seen a tree move, unless we're talking about Lord of the Rings?🤷
-Twenty years is the window of time during which nothing will change.

If people could just wait until Sunday, then if the results look like they did in Free Practice 1 or Free Practice 2, they can vent all they want.
Right now, this feels more like someone just grasping at straws.

That's already way too much...
you earned a break 👍
Lucky for them their engine was a total junk pile, so they managed to wreck that too 😍
Honestly, thank god the car was just as much of a disaster, otherwise they wouldn't have trashed the tires so fast...
The only real shame is that Mattia Binotto wasn't a complete failure himself, so we could finally see him degrade too 🙂

That guy is just straight-up incompetent. It’d be hard to find that level of uselessness anywhere else in the States 🤦
I’ve got a feeling if anyone handed Microsoft over to him, he’d bankrupt the whole company within a year...
mellowtiger83 said:That is an accurate assessment. Alonso would have secured the world championship in 2017 and 2018 because he is simply a higher-caliber driver than Vettel. Unfortunately, Alonso was stuck in a Ferrari that wasn't even remotely competitive compared to what it could have been, yet he still managed to fight for the title.

Naturally, Tibi will deny this, as per usual.

Honestly, I don't even have the energy to debunk this nonsense anymore...
Vettel and Alonso settled their score on the track, so you guys can just keep enjoying life through those rose-colored glasses of yours...

And why even bother arguing? It's like trying to explain to a toddler why they need to move ten feet to the left; I could spend the next twenty years explaining it, but nothing's going to change...
Jason Campbell70 said:"It all comes down to the race car; anyone could be a champion if they were driving a Mercedes-Benz."
- If that's true, why does Lewis Hamilton have 42 wins and 4 titles over 4 seasons, while Valtteri Bottas only has 9 wins and hasn't managed a single title—just a 5th and a 3rd place finish in the standings?
"That's because they aren't driving identical cars. Hamilton's is faster."
- LOL.

Even though both are arguably the GOAT of their respective sports, I completely agree with that sentiment.

It's pretty simple: Bottas is just a much worse driver than Hamilton...☕

Also, the idea that any random guy on the grid would rack up championships if he swapped seats with Hamilton is a total lie. That definitely wouldn't happen. Bottas isn't even in the same league of drivers required to pull that off. ☕

But, to be fair, it's also true that almost any driver on the grid would grab a few wins a season if they were sitting in Hamilton's seat.
And honestly, a true GOAT would absolutely crush both Bottas and Nico Rosberg too. 🙂 Between the two of them, they wouldn't even hit 5 pole positions or wins combined, let alone a single championship, 31 wins, and 44 poles. 🤦

Edward Stewart said:Thanks for getting back to me. That part seems like the easiest bit of this whole puzzle, yet I am struggling to find a definitive answer regarding whether I still actually need my IRS certificate—specifically, if my access to the IRS portal via my US government ID or e-filing remains contingent upon it.
It would seem perfectly logical that since my Social Security number remains the same and I don't have any employees on payroll, the requirement would simply vanish. To borrow a sentiment from Louis XIV, "the business is me." 🙂.

If you're the business...
I've actually never even used an IRS Tax Transcript or a security key. I've strictly used e-Verify for IRS Online ever since it became an option.
I'm not exactly sure how long it's been, but this is my second ID and it's valid until 2022 (my first one lasted 5 years 🤔), so I've probably been doing this for about 8 years total...

Funny enough, nobody tells you this. I found out by accident when I tried to file sales tax and—lo and behold—it worked...
I asked at the local IRS office if everything was fine, and they were basically like, "Why wouldn't it be?" I told them I didn't use the official IRS security key, but they insisted that 😁

Another thing people stay quiet about is a little detail: the Department of Homeland Security is supposed to give you your ID and a card reader at no extra charge (it's included in the ID fee).
Of course, as long as you don't ask, they won't offer it. You won't get it unless you specifically request it. 🙄

Check their websites to see if they offer online forms. If they do, just fill them out and email them directly to the agents at those agencies.

From what I gather, the person granting the power of attorney has to be the one to handle it, not the people receiving it...
At least when I log into Login.gov (Small Business Admin), I can see everything under my e-Verify admin settings. I can see exactly who I've authorized via their ID number, cancel permissions, or add someone new. It’s all right there.
I haven't actually tested it yet, but since this went live this year, you won't see any of that info unless you log in using a high-level security token or something with level 4 authentication.😉
graniteharbor502 said:I suppose I could have been a Formula 1 driver myself...
What remains undeniably apparent is that any driver placed in a Mercedes-Benz would likely find themselves at the very top of the standings. If there was ever a moment of ambiguity regarding that fact, I believe it has now become perfectly clear to everyone.

Yeah, what a brilliant excuse...
Already seen this nonsense on ESPN 🙂
They just forgot one tiny detail: you aren't even making it out of Q2 in qualifying, let alone grabbing pole, if you're spinning off the track every single time...
Having some decent lap times doesn't mean a damn thing when you can't actually complete a single clean lap. ☕
shadowmarlin22 said:Yeah, we all know how much prep work goes into this kind of thing, blah blah bla☕

George Russell is showing he’s got massive potential—we're talking on par with Max Verstappen or Charles Leclerc. If he can just get a competitive car under him, he’s a future champion, no doubt about it.
There is absolutely nothing shameful about what Lewis Hamilton is dealing with here. The man has won everything there is to win, so calling this a disgrace is just ridiculous.🤷 This actually just proves Russell's raw talent. It's exactly what we saw back in his junior days when he swept up every single trophy available—showing total dominance even while stuck in a hopeless car during head-to-head battles. He's just built different.

But wait, what exactly is the "disgrace" here?
It's not like George Russell is just giving Valtteri Bottas a gentle tap...
We started out 0.3 seconds behind, now we're at 0.6...
If things went like this in Free Practice 3, we'd be looking at a full second gap, maybe two during the race...

It’s a disgrace for Lewis Hamilton that he was losing to the same old Bottas, only getting crushed like this once in a blue moon on Fridays.
He usually barely scraped by him—like, if he didn't squeeze out every last atom of strength for some alien laps in qualifying, he wouldn't have beaten him by even two-hundredths. But Russell? He does that the very first time he sits in the car.
And here we have Russell, who hasn't been able to score a single point in a Williams Racing car for two years, even though even someone like Kubica managed it...

Bottom line: jumping into a car like this and absolutely demolishing Bottas is insane. It really shows that Bottas is a total hack...
Look at the comparisons:
When Aton jumped into Williams, he was 0.5 seconds slower than Nicholas Latifi's...
When Emerson Fittipaldi jumped into Haas F1 Team, he was 0.4 seconds slower than Kevin Magnussen...

It's normal for an unprepared driver jumping into a car on short notice to be about half a second slower (even against Nicholas Latifi's pace). But this? Having Bottas be over half a second slower? That's not normal. 😳
Regardless of whether Russell has some experience with Mercedes-Benz, if they were neck-and-neck or if he was just close, that would be bad enough. But the fact that Bottas is this far behind? Unbelievable. 🤦

Casey Hill57 said:Russell jumps into a completely different car for the first time and still puts over 0.3s on Bottas during that short lap🤦
I honestly feel secondhand embarrassment for Bottas right now 🤦

Besides, after seeing this, you really can't let anyone keep claiming that flashy guy is the GOAT🙂

This isn't just embarrassing for Bottas; it’s a massive blow to Lewis Hamilton too...
Because looking at today's data, it's hard to tell who's actually suffering more. 🤦

The fact that some rookie who barely even qualifies for Formula 1 jumps into a car he can barely fit in and immediately outpaces Bottas by 0.3 seconds? It’s freaking insane. 🤦
And yet, Bottas still managed to grab 15 pole positions and 9 wins while driving alongside Hamilton...
What can I even say? This is just ridiculous. 🤔
shadowmarlin22 said:If you're saying the car needs that much tweaking just because the driver isn't sitting in it every single weekend, then how exactly does Hulkenberg manage to drive just as well as Stroll?

Look, there’s no making excuses for Russell. I actually really like the guy—probably more than anyone else on this sub (more than even the guys over at 😁)—and I'm convinced his driving talent was already obvious in the junior categories. This streak of qualifying dominance isn't some fluke. Just because his teammates got lucky in one race and managed to snag a point ahead of him doesn't mean anything to me...

But putting all that aside, he's finally got a real shot to prove himself, especially if he gets two races under his belt. No sense in making excuses here; everyone expects him to perform at the level we know Bottas can deliver.

Look, Hulk still has way more experience in the FIA than Stroll ever will. 🙂
He’s got so much more under his belt that the crew actually trusts his feedback way more than they trust Stroll's...

A team is a team. You can change the name, swap out the engines, whatever—but the way a crew operates stays pretty much the same...

And as for the experience gap:
Stroll in the FIA—a season and a half (maybe two by now)...
Hulk—6 seasons...
Nicholas Newman2 said:What kind of standard are you even using? Because you specifically said that tier.🤔

I guess we just have set standards for every other debate, right?😁

You jump in with a claim, but when I ask you directly and clearly what you mean, you just deflect back to Bottas and act like I'm the one who needs to define things. Real classy.

Deflecting or switching arguments doesn't work here.👎

So, Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon basically just proved you wrong.🤦

What part of this isn't clicking?
Physics was a top-tier wingman, just like Bottas...
Before him, you had truo struggling to find his footing, then Physics comes in and plays the obedient soldier...
Same deal with Rosberg—he struggled, so they brought in the compliant Bottas right after him...

Though, unlike Bottas, Physics actually had massive talent when he was young, and expectations for his career were huge...
At the end of the day, he grabbed that first win with a small outfit, stacking up podiums before the dominant Renault era...
With Bottas, on the other hand, nobody expected anything more than maybe occasionally beating Massu.

So, Gasly and Albon are basically proving you wrong here.🤦

Based on what?
When Albon joined Red Bull Racing, he hit the ground running with solid, consistent results—he was even pulling more points than the "perfect" Max Verstappen for a minute.
Now, why he suddenly tanked in his second season is anyone's guess, but it definitely wasn't because he couldn't handle the pressure... if he couldn't, he wouldn't have survived 2019.

Gasly qualified ten spots ahead of Max in just his second race and finished 4th... only to inexplicably vanish into thin air for a while before getting sent back to STR where he somehow shines again.
How, why, or on what grounds? I haven't the slightest idea...

But before we call Gasly an exception that proves the rule instead of the rule itself...
Nicholas Newman2 said:Regardless of my own take on Max Verstappen, I honestly don't know what all this chatter is about.

Besides, Max was in a similar spot before. He didn't crash; instead, he pulled off the win—his very first one, too. So you can't say the pressure wasn't massive.

Let’s not beat around the bush—do you actually think Fisichella is a top-tier driver?

Carlos Sainz is basically on Valtteri Bottas' level...
Take that how you want.

As for Max, I don't see any comparison between him moving from STR to Red Bull Racing and some hypothetical scenario where he jumps from Red Bull Racing straight into a Mercedes...
I honestly don't see the connection.🤔

Red Bull Racing and STR are essentially the same organization. They’re structured identically, the cars are incredibly similar, and they probably even use the same procedures...
At the end of the day, you've got the same kid driving one or the other; the only difference is the raw power and quality of the car.
Everything regarding the actual driving—setup and all that jazz—is almost certainly identical.
Ultimately, Red Bull Racing was designed as a training ground for their drivers, so it makes perfect sense that everything is set up the exact same way... it would be weird if it wasn't.
Things could go south fast here...
And honestly, Lewis Hamilton sitting this one out might be the turning point for several F1 careers...

First off, Valtteri Bottas could lose his seat if George Russell proves he's actually better—and given Bottas' recent form, that’s not even a crazy thought...
I mean, Russell isn't exactly a stranger to the Mercedes setup or the car...
If that happens, Mercedes wouldn't have much of a dilemma. They're already grooming Russell for the seat anyway, and he's got enough F1 experience under his belt...
So, I wouldn't be shocked if Russell pulls off a stellar result and instantly snags that 2021 Mercedes seat, regardless of whatever contract Bottas currently holds...

Secondly, since Russell is basically pulling a Hulk situation where he can't seem to grab a single point, this could be a massive setback. He might even start looking at an exit from F1 altogether...
It would be pretty brutal if he fails to bag that famous first point even while driving a Mercedes. It gets even worse if Jack Aitken (who's subbing for him) manages to snatch a point for Williams this season... 🤦
And it's totally possible, because Williams could actually show some life on this outer lap 😳
What kind of message does that send about Russell and Nicholas Latifi constantly failing to score? You've got Russell failing even in a Mercedes, while Aitken jumps in and grabs a point on a whim 🤦
Nicholas Newman2 said:My take on the sport is subjective, which makes it pretty much irrelevant. On the other hand, your reading of the facts? That’s just superficial.

Having immense talent isn't the same thing as being an elite driver.
Most of these guys are incredibly talented. If they weren't, they wouldn't even be able to hold a spot in the circus. I'm talking about the top-tier drivers, obviously.

Even though I consider him a top-tier driver, I wouldn't bet on him making the podium. If you're asking me about Max Verstappen, though? I'd take that bet any day. For him, standing on that podium is just part of his daily routine.

When it comes to Max, I’d bet my life savings on him...
As for the guy in the Mercedes, I'm pretty sure he won't just miss the podium—he might not even finish the race.
The guy is in a totally unfamiliar car and a completely new environment. He's a wild driver who pushes things to the absolute limit constantly... honestly, it's a recipe for disaster.

Anyway, regarding Fisichella, he's a perfect example of what I mean. ☕
Fisichella was on the podium just one race before moving over to Ferrari...
And he didn't just make the podium; he was actually fighting for the win against Ferrari, but lost because the Ferrari was simply a better car...
And then, oh look at that, the very next race he jumps into that superior Ferrari and barely scrapes into the top 10. Not making the points at all is a massive step down from where he was.
Nicholas Newman2 said:I generally agree with you all, but honestly, a top-tier driver jumping into a Mercedes mid-season isn't going to fail. They might not squeeze out every ounce of potential, but they certainly won't tank it.
Beyond the fact that the Mercedes is a competitive car, how the entire team operates matters just as much.

It’s a completely different story whether you're sitting in a Racing Point or a Red Bull Racing.
I’d argue that if Hulk were in a Red Bull Racing or a Mercedes, he’d see better results—not just because the car is faster, but because of the overall team environment.
And we shouldn't overlook the fact that while Hulk might not be at the absolute peak of the grid, he still put in a really solid performance at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.

Obviously, it’s a given they wouldn't fail, but under these circumstances, just finishing in the top 10 isn't exactly "failing"...
In my opinion, getting a top 10 result in that car is a realistic goal for any solid driver like Sergio Perez or Nico Hulkenberg...
But honestly, even if they pulled Fernando Alonso out of retirement right now, I wouldn't expect much more from him given the situation...

A podium is already a massive stretch for almost everyone, and for an absolute top driver in peak form, maybe 3rd place is the limit (if someone dropped Lewis Hamilton into that car—he'd be dealing with a totally unfamiliar machine and crew, so I wouldn't expect miracles)...
Realistically, even giving Max Verstappen or Valtteri Bottas a shot is a huge ask considering how chaotic it would be to suddenly throw them into a new car and team.
But based on the car itself, a top finish for Perez, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, or Daniel Ricciardo is technically possible, even if it's incredibly tough—and you’d still need to be an elite driver to pull it off.

Expecting a win or even 2nd place is just pure fantasy for anyone...
Expecting Bottas to win when he's actually in his element is totally unrealistic.
And expecting Max? Forget it. Honestly, I don't think even Bottas could beat him.
mellowtiger83 said:This is a fundamental misunderstanding of Formula 1. Truly elementary. Whoever steps into that seat isn't going to be anywhere near Valtteri Bottas's level. Not because they lack talent, but because they are entering an entirely foreign driving environment with an unfamiliar car, new mechanics, and all that.

Relying on such theories is frankly ridiculous.

For instance, the idea that if Daniel Ricciardo from Renault replaced Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, he would just get washed out—or that if Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas took over, they’d dominate him—it ignores the reality of that first race under replacement conditions.

Exactly...
And honestly, if whoever steps in ends up stuck with Valtteri Bottas, it’s such an absolute joke that he should probably just be fired on the spot.🤦
