They were my absolute favorites... well, they used to be.
Who's the absolute GOAT? in Movies ·
Alright, let me explain the logic I used for this poll, just so that one girl gets some clarity.

1 sweet actor—you know, the one who gives you diabetes just by looking at him (Brad Pitt)
1 rising star, someone fresh and young (Phoenix)
2 veteran actors from the older generation—one's a bit more indie/alternative (Benicio), and the other is a massive mainstream icon (Johnny Depp)

The only thing they all actually have in common is that they look absolutely incredible.

So, let's see what people are actually voting for...

Looks like the old guard is winning, huh? Typical...😁 😎

I’ve always had a soft spot for the old guard... but if I'm forced to choose between these new kids, then it's definitely... Benicio . 😍

It’s not written "Depp." You say it like "Dep," not "Dip."😁

I'm with Benicio on this one.

I mean just everything... the charisma, the raw talent, the looks, that whole vibe... he's got the whole package.

I honestly think I’d have a hard time choosing... but if I had to pick, I’d probably give my vote to Benicio del Toro... and Johnny Depp.😁

You know... those days where you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed... it’s not even full-blown depression, it’s more like... a heavy, weary exhaustion of the soul (not to mention how much your body aches).
The starter kit for this mood is pretty simple: cigarettes, peanuts, total solitude, and nothing but depressing songs on repeat.
And damn... it just happens sometimes...
Deep down, you know the truth—you weren't really in love with him, but he was head over heels for her, and you just wanted him to feel that way about you, even though you couldn't return the feeling. It’s messy by nature.
But then these days hit, and you start spiraling, thinking about how it actually sucks that he didn't love you the way he loved her.
So you sit there listening to those sad tracks, and it feels like he wrote every single one of them specifically for her... and you find yourself wishing, just once, that someone would secretly dedicate one of those songs to you.
Then you light up a cigarette... and everything around you feels stupid. Including yourself. And of course, the rain is right there to make it worse.
How is it possible that I'm this selfish and messed up? Why can't I just enjoy being young while it lasts, instead of torturing myself with these thoughts about being unloved by someone who meant something to me, even if I didn't love him back? And yet... I still value my freedom so much...?
What's the deal?
Or am I just an incurable dreamer, convinced that I'll eventually find that one person to love—someone who will actually love me back—and suddenly these songs will take on a whole new meaning? They won't be depressing anymore; they'll be full of... LOVE?
I'm starting to hate that word... it just feels like a burden...

Alright, I’ll give it a shot, though I don't want to make things sound more promising than they actually are. I wouldn't want to let you down. Honestly, when I was trying to HELP her get over her ex, I didn't quite succeed—mostly because the breakup was still pretty fresh, and since I was basically the first girl she turned to after it happened, I ended up venting about it here quite a bit. Things are fine now, but that’s not really what we’re talking about.
And as for me... self-analysis, huh? I guess I can try...
So, look, we were together for about nine months. Everything was perfect, and then—BAM. Over. For a bunch of different reasons, he turned out to be a complete jerk. I was just totally crushed. I remember thinking, "I am NEVER falling in love like this again," and honestly, screw all of them...
I took a four-month mental health break where my girlfriends constantly comforted me and tried to convince me that life wasn't ending. In the meantime, I tried dating someone else once, but it just wasn't it. Wrong person, plain and simple. Then summer rolled around. Everything feels better in the summer. And then there was this guy... Someone who still means a lot to me, even if it's just as a friend, since we aren't a couple anymore... the distance between us just made it impossible...
He was so understanding about everything. He sat through all my identity crises and listened to me rant about how men are trash, and he actually talked me down from those rants. He did these little sweet things for me... he realized I have a soft spot for romance, so he put in the effort, but most importantly—he didn't push. He took it slow, stayed by my side, and then pulled back just a tiny bit... so I wouldn't lose interest. Because, let's be real, we women are weird creatures and you have to handle us carefully—if you give too much too soon or act too "perfect" right at the start, you aren't interesting anymore. Later on, being that way is what matters.
Anyway, we played those little games of cat and mouse, and everyone started noticing that I was finally coming out of my shell. With him, I actually managed to forget about the one who was not worthy of me. We were together for two months and it was lovely. If it weren't for the distance, maybe I would have fallen for him. I was happy; I realized there are still decent people left in this world and I felt ready to love again. The fact that I haven't fully moved on yet is just a messy mix of bad timing. Or maybe I'm just lazy.
If you had to boil all of this down into a recipe or some kind of takeaway, it would be this:
1) Patience really is the most important thing.
2) Honesty is everything during this stage. You have to tell her you care, and do whatever it takes to prove you aren't HIM—that you're unique and a BETTER person.
3) Little gestures of affection when she least expects them can go a long way.
4) Be careful not to be "too nice" to the point of being clingy; give her space to breathe.
5) Ultimately, time will tell, but putting in the work usually pays off.

Just a little warning before I wrap up—like I said, if she hasn't gotten over him, there isn't much you can do. Not everyone moves on easily.
My (now former) boyfriend, for example, has built up this wall. It's not that he doesn't want her, it's just that he doesn't want anyone else either. Not even me. At least, not as a girlfriend. But we are friends. We're honest with each other, and I don't regret it. I know I helped him a little bit, and I know what he's going through. This is where the most important part comes in—UNDERSTANDING and EMPATHY.
I really hope it works out for you. Even the fact that you're trying to figure out how to do this shows that you care, and that counts for something. Hang in there and don't give up. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Maria Thomas9 said:But why haven't you gotten over him?

I honestly think it's because you haven't met someone yet (or maybe someone hasn't found you) who can prove there’s actually something better out there than what you're used to. Maybe you just haven't crossed paths with the person capable of overshadowing the one who was not worthy of me...

It's complicated... it isn't really about how I would put it...
Let's just strip it down to the absolute basics.
When you're head over heels for someone, and you've given them an entire year of your life, being totally devoted—you'd do anything for them. There's nobody else in the world. You know, those typical romantic highs, and then that person just absolutely destroys you. It's crushing. Everything just turns to ash.
And then love just curdles into pure resentment. You end up losing faith in everyone of the opposite sex. And it takes time to recover from that.

So, here's the real question—how much time has passed for her since that guy? If it's only been a few months, you really have to watch your step.
But if she's already moved on with someone else, and it's been a year or more, then you actually have a real shot at this. Because time heals... well, somewhat, and the rest is up to you. But if this is all still fresh, you won't be able to fight against the ghosts of her past, no matter how kind and caring you are, even if you were Mother Theresa herself.
It's messy, but that's just how it works. There's always going to be that one person who breaks our hearts even though we love them, and then there's the person who is just too perfect—but they aren't THE one....

At least, that's how it played out in my own life.

Though, I'll let you in on a little secret at the end of all this: I've actually been in both positions—trying to forget someone and trying to help someone else forget.
And in both cases, everything I just said turned out to be true.

I'm rooting for you. Help her believe in love again. She needs someone who is willing to put in the work!👍 👋

Look, you're going to have a hard time getting rid of them...

You can be the absolute best version of yourself, but if she hasn't moved past that guy, man—it’s all for nothing.
I know from experience.

And me... I don't think they're the most annoying band I've ever heard...

Besides, I'm just not a fan when a guy starts wailing like that, unless he's in Suede—I guess they get a free pass for everything.

But then you have Coldplay🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

oh, and I totally forgot about one guy who isn't even a rocker:

Dre from Outkast

Why would anyone laugh? Honestly, I feel the same way about him...

But if we're ranking them, Fab Moretti and Julian Casablancas come before him.

And somehow, Jack White makes the list too (okay, please DON'T laugh at that one either!)😵

The Lion King (the one without the English dub, if God knows where that came from!!!!!!!!!!)
Even if he’s pulling fewer votes now, I honestly think Mel Gibson outshined everyone else when it came to sheer BRAVERY...🙏
And man, just thinking about that movie now... it actually makes me want to cry.🙂
Kill Bill Vol. 1 in Movies ·
So... I caught this movie in New York City a few days ago (and finally, FINALLY, I actually had enough legroom in the theater, which was an immediate win for the whole experience) and, oh my god, you guys, I was blown away!!!!
I mean, you can't really expect anything different when it comes to Tarantino, but still....
Personally, that one scene totally floored me—you know, the one where she’s fighting them all against that blue backdrop with everyone looking like black silhouettes? Absolute perfection!!! And honestly, I'm stoked for Star Trek too; I can't wait to get my hands on it...........
I wouldn't have bothered seeing it in a local theater anyway because:
1. It's just so uncomforrrrrtable
2. I don't have anyone to go with (like I mentioned before—it's impossible to round up 6 people just to get a theater to open), mostly because my friends are all pretty much allergic to blood
3. Who knows if the theater will even stay open by the time the movie actually hits the big screen here?

But seriously, you cannot miss Kill Bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I already told everyone I'm heading to the nearest theater to see Volume II the second it hits the US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
OK, HEY EVERYONE, JUST A QUICK HEADS-UP BEFORE I DIVE IN—IN MY TINY LITTLE TOWN, THE LOCAL MOVIE THEATER ONLY OPENS ONCE EVERY FEW YEARS (AND THAT'S IF WE CAN EVEN SCRAPE TOGETHER SIX PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WANT TO GO). because of that, we get to see movies a little bit before they hit streaming, so if you've already seen a thread like this, please don't hold it against me.
(I didn't even realize my CAPS LOCK was on while I was typing, and honestly, I just couldn't be bothered to go back and fix it all, so just ignore the shouting).

anyway, let's get down to business.....has anyone actually seen THE LAST WITNESS??? if you haven't, please, for the love of God, DON'T... I have seriously never sat through anything more boring in my entire life...
what did you guys think????????????????
....and honestly, Russell was absolutely terrible in this one.
what gives???
