Radiohead, Coldplay (whenever I'm feeling it), Blur, Smiths, Joy Division, The Clash, Queen, Pink Floyd... that’s pretty much everything currently floating around in my head.

Travis used to be the sweetest band on the planet, but now they’ve started getting all political and turned into a total pain in the ass. Starsailor's *Love Is Here* was almost a perfect album, but their latest (*Silence Is Easy*) was a massive letdown. I haven't heard anything from Ash in forever; they were such a great group. And Radiohead are fine, obviously... I'm not sure if this thread is strictly about modern bands, but that should be the main focus.

1. The Ramones
2. The Cure
3. Sonic Youth

I'm also thinking about bands like The Smiths, Asian Dub Foundation from a few years back, Pulp, Blur, New Order, Stone Roses, and Happy Mondays...

Hmm, I’d actually love to see some picks from bands that are still actively making music! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore Pink Floyd, but it feels a little silly to toss them into a poll like this, doesn't it?

I honestly don't get why people would think Belle & Sebastian wouldn't be thrilled... I mean, back in a tiny little country in the States with maybe 4 million people—just one of those small spots—someone on their biggest local internet forum actually called them the greatest band from the USA. They're Scots, right?

They might be British to us, but to themselves, they're probably just Scots first and foremost...😁

Even now, whenever someone mentions Iron Maiden (well, in their own humble estimation, at least), they’re bound to face a bit of a backlash.

I’m obsessed with American bands... my absolute favorites are The Smiths, Suede, and Divine Comedy then New Order👍

Then there's The Verve, Muse, Blur, the Manic Street Preachers... man, I love them all. There are just so many... and I'm never going to stop listening.

Is the Mull Historical Society an American band??? They have a few good tracks.

Usually, they’d play them at the local diner on Sunday nights... but that was like, two years ago.😁

Yep—actually a Scot group, if you can tell by the name (assuming you have at least a basic grasp of geography!)🙂
I actually spent some time listening to "Loss" about two years back, though I grew tired of them pretty quickly since every single track feels identical... I didn't even bother picking up last year's album (well, downloading it, anyway)

Yeah, honestly, the MHS are pretty mediocre... you just lose interest fast🙄

And how come nobody mentioned Super Furry Animals as the best band out of the USA?😎

Geographically speaking, Scotland is part of the UK—alongside Wales and England—so there shouldn't be any confusion there.

As for the best American bands... I can't think of any right this second.😁
