Why do people take me for granted? in Psychology & Therapy ·
The truth is, I pulled away from everyone just to save myself from being disappointed.
Maybe I'm just in one of those life phases where I'm constantly questioning everything, searching for some kind of inner peace.
Look, we all know you have to love yourself and be happy on your own first, but let's be real—you can't spend your entire life isolated. I’m not talking about casual acquaintances; I mean the people you actually care about, the ones you have a real connection with. We're all different, sure, but at least I know what I want and what I'm aiming for.

I’m only replying like this to the people who start interrogating me in the exact same way. 😉

Don't treat me like I'm stupid by asking questions like that! 😉

I love kids, but having my own? No thanks.
It seems like with most people, you're only useful as long as they need something from you. Once they've moved on with their lives, they can barely find a spare second for their own parents. So, I'll pass. Thanks, though!

darksurfer4 said:Sure, it’s technically possible; I mean, history is full of people who spent years living in caves or perched on some desolate, lonely cliffside. We tend to remember them as great philosophers or saints, but if you ask me, my gut feeling is that most of them were probably just deeply mentally ill.🤔

Labeling someone as mentally ill when you don't even know their story or have ever met them in person? Honestly, that’s just pathetic and plain rude.
It’s no wonder people feel so lonely these days, surrounded by such toxic company.

Who are you even supposed to live for, or where are you meant to find support, if being around people just leaves you feeling more alone? They say you should be able to stand on your own two feet and be content living solo, but who actually believes that lie?

Maybe someone finally hit the nail on the head.

While you guys are busy twisting the argument, just ask yourselves: would anyone actually feel less alone having someone like that "closest" to them?
Sorry, but I haven't received a single piece of actual advice here yet!

So, I guess the only real solution is just staying single forever!

The most important question is, how are you actually going to help?
Why do people take me for granted? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Morning, everyone.

I wasn't sure where to host this thread, but whoever is free to chime in and has an opinion on this topic will find it.

I’m seeing more and more people—barring a few exceptions—becoming incredibly rude to one another. It isn't just about how others act, though; it's about my relationship with them. Or rather, their relationship with me. It feels stupid to talk about myself or brag, but I don't think I'm a bad person. I'm just noticing that kindness isn't valued much these days, and as I get older, I can tell that being a good person has only cost me.

I’ve posted here before during periods where I was feeling really depressed, constantly searching for some deep-seated reason for my sadness. The truth? It's the loneliness. It's literally killing me day by day.

It sounds silly, but over time I've just lost interest in people. I don't have the energy anymore to "get over broken connections" or try to fix pieces of myself that other people shattered. Same goes for dating—I went from searching persistently to nothing at all. I've completely withdrawn.

Anyway, the point of all this is that I have very few people in my life who actually care about me. Everyone else is either using me for something or treating me poorly—and I tend to tolerate it until I finally snap. I'm always the backup plan, or someone is trying to set me up with someone they think I'll like. There are so few people who will actually call just to ask how I am.

And every single day, I just feel lonelier and lonelier.
What’s your general take on this? Have we really become a society of wolves?
Why do people take me for granted? And if I have to, what do I need to change about myself to make things better?
I probably already know what you'd say to all of this, but I'm asking for your thoughts and advice anyway. 😉

Hey everyone,

Which bank generally offers the lowest monthly maintenance fees, followed by the cheapest online banking?
You know that old saying—it’s not that I don't have money, I just refuse to waste it! 😁 😁 😁

Talking about someone's intelligence when you haven't even met them or seen them once? 😁 I think it's time to lock this thread because you guys are turning it into a total circus.

What part of "I can't discuss my legal issues publicly" is unclear? I’m busy burning through cash just to have my attorney charge me an arm and a leg for a single question. If someone here wants to step up, fine, but if not, fine—so why all the immediate arrogance?!

Of course, nobody’s going to lift a finger for you unless there's cash on the table. Thanks a ton for all the incredibly polite responses!

Fine, an attorney works too.

Honestly, I feel a bit awkward posting this publicly and I really hope the mods don't take offense, but could one of the lawyers on here shoot me a DM? I need some advice regarding a real estate matter and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
Data recovery from a hard drive in Hardware ·
Alright, I need some advice on this mess. My hard drive is a complete disaster right now. Based on what you guys have dealt with, what’s actually worked? Any specific software you’d recommend?

Thanks in advance!
Printer issues in Hardware ·
So, I'm dealing with a Canon PIXMA that my computer just won't recognize, and it's running on an old setup with Windows XP.
I tried plugging it into another PC thinking maybe the printer was the issue, but nope—it works perfectly fine there.
I've lost count of what I've attempted: drivers from the original disc, downloads from the web, letting the system auto-install, even trying to force it manually.
The weird part? The computer actually detects it, but then throws this error saying "an error occurred during installation and your device may not work properly."

I honestly can't wrap my head around this. Is there any way to fix it? Is the hardware just too outdated for the printer? Or is it because of the OS, since it hasn't seen an update in years?

Please, help!
