I’m not a member of the family, but I really need some advice.
A close friend’s father was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few months ago.
It’s terminal; they aren't planning surgery because the survival rate is basically zero percent.
She’s actually finishing up medical school, so she understands the clinical reality of this better than most—she knows exactly what’s happening.
He’s been going through radiation and chemo, and he just had an MRI. She got the results back today, and the tumor has spread significantly. They can't even tell if he has weeks or months left, and they’re sitting down to talk to him about it today. 😢 We were all just holding onto this tiny shred of hope, praying there might be a miracle or at least a few more years together.
My question is—how should I act to actually be helpful to her?
Whenever she calls, I usually find myself at a loss for words. I end up falling back on the usual clichés: "stay strong," "hang in there," "it'll be okay," "just breathe," "I'm here for you," or "call me anytime, day or night."
I feel like I’m being completely useless, and I genuinely want to be someone she can lean on.
How should I carry myself, and what can I actually say?
I’ll also be seeing her father, her mother, and her sister soon... 😢
Is there anything meaningful or wise I can say to them?
They really ought to be stocking those in the lingerie departments of the stores.

Thanks so much! 🙂 🙂
I am looking for a specialist who deals with tumors; specifically, a tectal glioma.
I'm open to exploring any new treatment options, whether it involves advanced radiation therapy, surgical interventions, or anything else that might be available.
I am willing to travel to any continent or any countryto find the right care.
Any information or leads you can share would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking over their price list right now...
Where does a bubble mailer with medium-sized bubbles (really stuffed with 😁 ) actually fall?
Is it under standard letter mail?
-up to 100g = $1.50? Is that really all it costs?
Thanks
I was hoping I could jump in here with a quick question if that’s alright 😬
I’m wondering if it’s possible to open a standard checking account—using all my own legal information, everything totally by the book—but somehow arrange it so that when people send money, my actual name, John Doe, doesn't show up on the transaction? Instead, could it say something like, I don't know, "Jam Production" 😁 (just as a trade name, not a formal corporation)
To put it simply, is there any way to remain anonymous to the people making the transfers?
My gut feeling tells me the answer is probably no, but I figured I’d check in here first just to be absolutely sure before I head down to a local bank branch... 😁
Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up some bubble wrap?
Just a small roll, if possible.
(And please, nothing like Home Depot or Lowe's... I’m looking for more "everyday" kind of shops or local stores.)
Alright, everything makes perfect sense now. That was an incredibly clear explanation. 🙂
I don't have any other questions left 😁
Thanks a million!
Thanks so much for all the help you guys have given me 🙏
But before I actually dive into online shopping, I’ve still got one lingering issue hanging over my head...
So, I headed down to my local Chase branch today.
I went in to ask about the best way to deposit funds into a foreign currency account, fully expecting them to just give me a basic "welcome to banking" rundown.
Instead, the teller straight up told me that Chase DOES NOT offer foreign currency accounts! Honestly, I felt pretty ridiculous even bringing up the concept in the first place.
Long story short, according to her, I basically just have two cards tied to one single checking account.
When I buy things online, I'll be using my Visa card to process the transaction, but the money will be pulled directly from that one standard US dollar account.
Now, I'm wondering if that's actually how it works, or if I should follow up via email to get some more clarity?
(It’s just that everyone I know who shops internationally seems to use a dedicated foreign currency account, so I'm feeling a little lost right now)
I just received my Intel card from Wells Fargo.
I’m looking to start shopping on eBay, so I have a few questions..
Do I need to transfer funds into some kind of special account first, or will the payments be pulled directly from my checking account when I buy something?
The staff at the branch didn't really give me much detail 🤷
(I actually went into the bank specifically to get everything sorted so I could shop online. They basically told me they'd mail an Intel card to my house and that was the end of it. The whole interaction lasted maybe ten seconds. Now that the card is here, I'm feeling pretty lost. I still have to swing by the branch to pick up my PIN, but I figured I'd ask for advice here first—I much prefer having things written down rather than being rushed through an explanation in a matter of seconds 😁 )
A lot of this is still confusing to me, and honestly, the information on their website is incredibly vague and poorly explained... the paperwork that came with the card isn't any better.
Is there anything else I should be aware of? My boyfriend has a foreign currency account, but I get the impression mine doesn't work quite the same way 😕
Alright, thanks everyone... I'll keep looking into it.
Maybe it'll end up being a gift card after all.
Sorry things got a little off-topic here.
Best, 👋
It’s 😢
definitely a bigger city..
think more along the lines of places like Macy's or Urban Outfitters, C&A, H&M, Takko, Two Way, S.Oliver, or even Banana Republic.....

It’s really tough to nail the perfect fit from afar. If you get something too small or way too big, it’s just going to end up ruining her mood. 😁
She’s definitely not going to let me do that. 😁
Since she’s got a steady career and everything, and I’m just the "struggling college student" type, taking care of my own bills and all that... she won't let me spend more than the price of a candy bar on her. 🤣 😍
But if it’s a split cost—half and half—that’ll be much easier to manage... I'm just stuck on the sizing issue.
Honestly, you guys have me second-guessing everything now; I can't even tell if it's supposed to be a jacket 🤔
Her birthday is just a week away... and get this, two weeks ago she mentioned how much she loved my leather jacket, saying she needs to find something similar because her wardrobe is totally lacking for these fall days.
Honestly, she already has everything under the sun, so I’m completely out of ideas.
Jewelry, vases, flowers, framed prints, gourmet chocolate boxes, accessories... I don't even know where to start—she doesn't need any of that stuff. She needs clothes.
So, I'm thinking a high-quality jacket might be the way to go, regardless of the price tag.
If anyone has some solid advice or suggestions, I’m all ears.
I’m not entirely sure if I’ve landed in the right corner of the internet, but I could really use some help if anyone’s available 🙂
I’m picking out a gift, and I’m trying to figure out what size this person actually wears. Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know where I can find some nice leather jackets for her? To be clear, I mean faux leather. Ideally somewhere in the $100 range.
