Heel pain help! in Health ·
I’m looking for some advice regarding footwear: I’ve been dealing with this nagging plantar fasciitis for about two years now. I’ve already burned through two totally different sets of orthotics, gone through a full round of physical therapy (lasers, electrical stimulation, the whole nine yards), and collected a mountain of both amateur and professional advice—it’s been all over the map. Honestly, I just don't have the time to be my own doctor; I try the rosemary oil massages, but let's be real, I'm not exactly consistent with that. What’s really killing me, though, is the shoe situation. I’ve hit up every specialized shop and commercial retailer in Washington, D.C. (think Ecco, Geox, or those boutique spots... I won't list them all), but everything I try ends up being a disappointment. It’s either too tight, lacks support, doesn't have enough shock absorption, or some other flaw. Don't even get me started on house slippers—though I did recently find a pair at the Hemingway clinic that I actually highly recommend. Shoes, however, are a lost cause so far. Any suggestions?
Always grateful🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Just a quick follow-up to my previous rant about UnitedHealth Group—specifically regarding how slow they are with test results. You end up waiting weeks for a single report (which honestly feels no different than using a free public clinic), and every time you call, they just give you the same old "tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow" song and dance. And regarding that argument from the head nurse claiming this isn't some "free systemic checkup"—give me a break. I feel like we actually got a pretty decent deal considering what they offer, if you want to exaggerate it a bit. Honestly, hearing those kinds of excuses just drives me absolutely insane! Don't try to make me out to be the bad guy here; the truth is, for the exact same price, I could have had much faster, far more reliable care from several boutique practices run by specialists like Dr. John Doe or Professor Latin.
To repeat myself through all this noise: UnitedHealth Group employees 👎
I remember there was a thread here a while back about private clinics and everyone sharing their experiences, but I can't seem to track it down, so I’m starting a new one. Same old question: does anyone have a recommendation for a decent clinic in Washington, D.C.? Ideally somewhere where they aren't trying to pull any fast ones with your money, and where the staff is actually punctual, honest, and polite. I’ve been feeling pretty wound up yesterday and today thanks to some shady dealings over at UnitedHealth Group. If a service is marketed as "all-inclusive," then if they decide to run an extra test that costs more, you should be told upfront—not have the head nurse lecturing you later about how you "should have known" it wasn't covered! It’s incredibly unprofessional—or rather, it's the new trend: grab the cash and run. As Charles Bukowski so eloquently put it... honestly, where do they even find these people? Do they even vet their doctors? UnitedHealth Group employees 👎👎👎👎😠

Were some posts deleted? What’s with all this bashing of Kemo? Honestly, thumbs down to you too, Middleman.

I was reading somewhere that, when you look at the long-term effects, it’s actually carcinogenic.

Thanks. If you're the one who deleted those three posts I spotted this morning, you might as well have just hit the delete button on your whole account. As for the guy bringing up how carcinogenic chemotherapy is—yeah, true, we've all read the studies—but it feels like the industry tries to sweep that part under the rug. When you're dealing with cancer that has metastasized everywhere, mainstream medicine can feel... questionable, to say the least. It lacks certainty. Of course, people will still opt for chemo just to keep the doctors from taking offense and to ease their own conscience, but this time, we decided to look for some "outside" help too. My thanks again to the forum member who stepped up twice to respond to my post (or rather, my cry for help).

A patient has metastases in the liver (confirmed via ultrasound and MRI) stemming from colorectal cancer. They had surgery last year and completed six rounds of chemo. Their marker levels hit 150 just ten days ago, when anything under 5 is considered normal.
Just a general question—is there actually a reliable method to confirm you’re officially "cancer-free," or at least that things are shrinking? And if they are shrinking, what kind of timeline are we looking at? Days? Months? Decades? Just a lot of questions swirling around here...
Ultrasounds? Blood work? We are fully prepared to head to a private lab like Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp; we'll do whatever it takes. This is particularly tough because, for the first time, we put our absolute faith in the oncologist. They told us there was no need for constant monitoring since being on chemo essentially keeps everything clear, and to just check back in three months.
Well, it's only been two months, and the metastasis is right there like nothing happened. A total bolt from the blue. Thanks for any insight you can offer.
(And please, feel free to elaborate on this disease. I know it isn't exactly light conversation, but... it feels like everyone you turn to these days is dealing with something similar.)

Dr. Doko is fine (I saw her about 10 years ago)—pretty laid back, decent enough, but nothing to write home about;
nowadays I’m seeing this younger doctor (Dr. Gregov) at the university clinic (near City Hall in downtown); so far, she’s been great—organized, precise, gets straight to the point, and just easy to talk to. Honestly, she's super 👍

When you exit Mustang, head back to the main road and just keep going straight. You'll see a sign for Wrangler or Lee—or whatever the hell it actually says!

Muchos gracias!!! 👋

Seriously, please. 👋
Need some help dealing with depression in Psychology ·
Kayla said:chemical imbalances within my body.

Kayla, do you play any sports? If the answer is no, my honest advice is to find something to do—specifically hiking. Getting out into nature really helps heal you, especially being near water. Just go somewhere on your own or join a local club; they’re usually full of upbeat, decent people. A little physical exertion will help drain that depression away.

Chemical imbalance is also a massive factor here—maybe pick up some books (or just look things up online) about
and maybe watch something like "The Sisters of Mercy," something actually educational 😉

You aren't alone in this (which I know you realize, even if right now you're hyper-focused on just your own situation).... you have my support. 👋 😘

I was dealing with super low iron levels, and honestly, the absolute BEST thing I found at the pharmacy was the liquid iron from Nestlé👍

Tess........ they trimmed him down quite a bit, maybe by about 15 minutes if I had to guess. I went ahead despite that massive downpour; near Tuškanac, the water was basically knee-deep
every single scene where Kinskica and Firth were making out was just... painful

From July 5th through the 10th, starting at 8:00 PM, there's a film series running at the local community center organized by the French-American Alliance (or some similar group)

The main thing to remember is that they're showing Tess of the d'Urbervilles (Nikki Kinski) on Tuesday 👍

I’m actually getting ready to go watch it now. My only real issue is the timing—I’m usually passed out by 9:30 PM most nights—but since you all have hyped it up this much, I’m going for it! 👍
Last year, I caught this mini-series on TV about organized, systematic pedophilia in the USA, involving the abuse of boys—adolescents, 13 and up—by caregivers across various reform schools. Even now, those creepy scenes still stick with me: those sleazy "uncles" from social services, lawyers, intellectuals... and if I recall correctly, the credits mentioned that this was happening as recently as ten years ago. Apparently, the investigation is still dragging on, moving at a snail's pace, and—to put it bluntly—most of those predators hiding behind their judicial roles haven't even faced any real consequences yet.
