Soccer sub needs two more mods in Feedback & Suggestions ·
William Gomez5 said:If I remember correctly, we have people here from San Jose, Seattle, and San Francisco. 🤔

Is there really nobody from Washington, D.C.? A city with about fourteen major league teams. The heart of the sport. The home of our national team. The city where Jerry Maguire lives. And his brother, too.
It’s honestly embarrassing. I’m genuinely surprised by this forum.

Michael Davis9 said:It felt a bit like watching reruns of those old diplomatic tours across Europe. I remember some guy mentioning that Czechs and Slovaks have never had a better relationship than they do right now...

That kind of thing isn't going to happen here (given the history of the last war and how these nations were carved out), but strong cooperation between neighboring countries is definitely becoming the norm across Europe rather than the exception.

And Americans and Mexicans are on better terms now than ever before.

The whole idea of rebuilding America is the conversation of the day. It’s pretty much an open secret at this point. You look at the three major sports leagues—basketball, water polo, and handball—along with the regional lottery and a massive multinational railroad company currently under development, and you see the foundation is already there. We’ll find our way back under an American roof sooner than we think.

West Brom 🙏 🙏 🙏

If it wasn't for this sponsor, this would honestly be the best jersey I've ever seen in my entire life 🙏

And as it stands, the best sponsor you've ever seen is an emergency plumber.
Obama's moderators in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Michael Collins said:The resonator isn't the only issue here. We have several moderators who tend to settle scores on threads involving anyone who disagrees with Obama's views...

Then you have certain forum members who are completely biased and, frankly, a bit full of themselves. They seem unable to see the obvious reality right in front of them: currently, there are three main political threads on the front page dedicated entirely to Obama, totaling roughly 2,200 posts. At least half of those are negative toward him, and quite a few cross the line into being outright insulting. Even the person who started this specific thread authored a good portion of those comments himself. Yet, somehow, he’s still here, active and unbanned, despite the constant, sneaky attempts to tear him and other dissenters down.

Google "action = reaction"...
☕

I missed this one earlier. Look, between you and me, I'm probably not the guy who needs to hit up Google just to tell the difference between those two literary devices.

Based on that answer, I'm thinking...
Because I didn't even ask you that. I asked whether your actual job is moderation (deleting threads, merging them, renaming things when needed, monitoring participants for being rude or offensive, etc.) or if your job is just steering the conversation in whatever direction you want and banning anyone who disagrees with you... and let's be honest, everyone knows "trolling" and "spamming" can be interpreted however someone wants to see them...
Can I get a straight answer? It would be nice this time.☕

It’s about violating the rules, not having a different opinion. Besides, I haven't actually banned many people. If you don't count your Clinton-style antics, it's only been two or three folks, and they all already had strikes against them from before.

Betty Myers14 said:I suppose there isn't any other perspective to consider besides yours, is there? This whole thread is just pure madness.

We're pushing nearly 300 posts since the last Clinton left. Now you can see roughly what everyone is actually talking about—come on in and join the conversation.

We're talking about steering the conversation in the right direction...
I’m going to ask once more for an answer to what I already posed:
Could you not have just started your own thread instead of hijacking this one, which clearly established its own direction from the very first post?
Or is your "job" just stirring the pot and causing drama?... because managing and locking threads to oversee a conversation is a completely different thing. (Keep in mind, they aren't the same.)
....Is it really that hard to give me a straight answer?

One part of my role is making sure we don't have duplicate topics on the soccer forum; if they pop up, I merge them. Closing threads when necessary and general moderation are both part of the gig. Anything else you're curious about?

Anonymous said:So, did you actually start this thread?
Could you have just opened your own instead?
Is hijacking someone else's discussion to steer it toward your own agenda really "part of the job"?
We'll find out the answers to those questions in the upcoming chapters....
Or is there going to be more "action" coming?

I decided to jump straight into the action and reaction. It saves us all from hunting for culprits and skips about 150 pages of filler. No one really moderates their own threads. That's my job, strictly following the forum rules.

Google "action = reaction"...
☕

Action, reaction... who started it first... blah blah blah... we already read 150 pages of that nonsense during the riots at the stadium. There was absolutely no need to read it all over again in Warsaw. To make a long story short, I was the one who initiated this, and it ended exactly how it should have. It’s just part of my job as a moderator, as Taylor Gonzalez79 so eloquently put it. This thread is finally in a good place now.

granitefox16 said:What do you mean, "we both know"?
Did I ask for a permanent ban just because "we both know" something? No.
So much for intellectual honesty...
Look, just ban me permanently if there's such a damn problem. It's not like this forum can't survive without me, or I can't live without it...
Just like we both know exactly what was actually going on with that Warsaw situation. Don't be unfair.

I'm being perfectly fair. The whole point of the Warsaw thread was calling out the hypocrisy in this country. That was the topic. You left the thread open, but you banned the guy who started it. So much for "fairness"...

A moderator's job is to guide the discussion, not twist it to fit their own views while ignoring the original post.
Honestly, after the first couple of posts, it’s like you guys completely forgot what the thread was even about...

A permanent ban? What are you even talking about? Man, you’ve been hanging out in the politics section for years. You jump into all sorts of topics. Have you ever actually felt targeted or picked on just because you're a fan? Any resentment? Any issues at all because of that? Come on, don't be ridiculous.

As for the Warsaw situation, the thread was fine until a few "geniuses" showed up. They probably thought they were being witty or sarcastic, so they started copy-pasting posts from an old thread, just swapping out a few words. You call that exposing societal hypocrisy? My friend, that’s just basic trolling. I was actually the one who deleted those posts and warned them that I wouldn't tolerate that kind of thing, explaining exactly why. I wasn't listened to, so the first warnings went out. And those were my calls, not Sašov's. After that, it just turned into pure spite—people cloning threads and collectively deciding to screw over both the moderation and the discussion itself. What exactly did you think was going to happen after that?

granitefox16 said:Then how do you explain this whole bias on the politics subforum? Like everyone coming from there gets targeted?

What's that "untouchable icon" crap supposed to mean?
The only thing that actually matters is that people from that subforum get treated the same as everyone else. Trolling is trolling, period. Those biases you or granitefox16 have toward certain fans shouldn't even exist...

Look, the question was simple: does it matter or not?

Look, Ed, let’s not play games here. You’re really the last person who should be talking about political targeting against fans. We both know the truth. We both know exactly what was actually going on behind the scenes with that whole Warsaw situation. Let's stay honest, shall we?

Nathan Chase14 said:I’m honestly curious if I’ll ever get an answer.

Instead of asking yourself why you feel the need to engage with trolls or posts you already know are going to get flagged, maybe ask yourself why you can't just let it go. Why does it drive you to respond to stuff like that? I don't have the answer to that. Next time, just report the post and wait for the moderator to handle it.

"I get it. You spent a good chunk of your life living in that old-school, European version of Hawaii back when it was all part of the USSR. That kind of place leaves a mark on you. But honestly? Borders are open now. Just get out there, travel a bit, and see what a functioning society looks like with your eyes—which, hopefully, are only temporarily blinded by nostalgia..."

That sentence is just pure trolling.

I don't see why someone sitting at zero posts shouldn't be able to kick off a high-level, insightful discussion. 🤷
The only real hurdle is if they aren't quite familiar with how the site's interface works yet.
As long as we have moderators on the clock, any low-effort or garbage threads can be wiped away in three clicks.

Of course they can. In this specific instance, it just happened to be a zero-post user starting an incredibly stupid thread. I kept my response brief so I wouldn't end up getting grilled too much by the FBI.
