Nicholas King said:The second a moderator starts debating what counts as "good" versus other parts of a post, things get awkward.

Just so we’re on the same page—even though I used quotes—by "good," I mean they aren't breaking any site rules, not whether I personally like them or not.
For instance, someone writes a perfectly fine, relevant post without any trolling, but then tosses in a random jab or a tiny insult toward another user in the very last sentence. It feels like a waste to delete the whole thing, but it also feels wrong to issue a formal warning just for that. So, you just edit out that one sentence.
But, like I said before, and like hollowtrucker77 suggested, I really don't have an issue handling these things differently. At the end of the day, how people handle discussions in the General Forum or over in the Ban Hammer corner is up to them; it doesn't affect my life one bit. I've dealt with people hounding me about why I deleted their posts, and then once I stopped doing that, they'd hit me up in the Ban corner asking why I didn't just edit them instead. Honestly? I couldn't care less.

We’ve been clearing out posts that are completely off-topic or just straight-up trolling. If a post is only partially problematic, we usually just edit it down so the decent parts actually stay up.
But look, I get it. You guys should have a say in this, so from here on out, I'll respect your wish and leave your posts exactly as they are—no deleting, no editing.
Democratic Party bickering in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Sarah James93 said:On Reddit, you see it all the time. The mods will lock a thread and leave this explanation behind—which, let’s be honest, is often pretty cryptic. Usually, though, their reasoning makes some kind of sense to me. But I just ran into one specific explanation for a locked thread that actually left me feeling a bit... unsettled. 😕

So, this user started a thread titled "Democratic Party bickering," and here’s what they said: "Lately, I've been getting my blood pressure up just listening to all this Democratic Party bickering. They're acting like everyone in the Republican Party knew everything all along... like they were supposed to report it sooner or something..."
What is actually going on with the Democratic Party and their own version of Ivo Sanader? I’m looking specifically at guys like Milan Bandić, whom the Democrats practically worshipped just as much as the Republicans loved their Sanader. Why hasn't the Democratic Party handed over the evidence to the FBI regarding Bandić, Ljubičić, and the rest of their own little circle of corruption? Or are we just waiting a few months for them to claim they had no idea what was happening? It'll be the same old story—acting oblivious to things that any sane person already knows. Let's face it: in America, every single county and every city with more than 20,000 people seems to have its own local version of Sanader or Bandić running the show.

To be honest, I’ve never actually joined a political party...

Shortly after that, the moderator shut the whole thread down. Their reasoning? "It honestly drives my blood pressure through the roof when someone starts a thread just because they're having a blood pressure spike."

The reasoning behind that explanation feels completely absurd to me. It makes it sound like the moderator just gets annoyed whenever someone starts a thread because they’re personally triggered or bothered by the subject matter. But honestly? That’s exactly why a ton of people on Reddit open threads and don't close them. If that were actually the rule, it would feel like a different motive is at play here.

I rarely find myself checking out the politics section, so I’m honestly not very well-versed in how things actually work over there. I can't tell if this specific topic is already being debated in another thread, if we've already beaten it to death, or if this particular user just has a reputation for stirring the pot... or something like that.
If that was the case, they could have just phrased it that way instead of saying: "It makes my blood pressure rise when someone starts a thread just because their blood pressure rose."
I honestly can't find a single decent reason for locking this thread. Looking at that sentence, all I get is a sense of moderator whimsy and pure ego. Now, I’m not saying that’s actually what’s happening here—it’s just the impression I’m left with.

Could they not have explained the decision to close this thread in a way that felt a little more reasonable and easier to swallow?

There’s a certain group of people on the politics subreddits who seem to think they can just drop a brand-new thread whenever the mood strikes. It doesn't matter if they just joined or if they only show up once a month; they just dive in without checking the rules or seeing if the topic was already covered. They don't really stop to think before hitting "post" on every single random thought that crosses their mind. It’s become a pattern. One week, the Democratic Party is bickering about Ivo Sanader, then the next week it's something else entirely, and the week before that, it was a different issue altogether. Now, the Republican Party is doing the exact same thing—ranting about one thing this week, something else last week, and something else the week before. You honestly can't have a separate discussion for every single fleeting thought someone has. We've explained this a thousand times already. Honestly, if you spent more time actually reading the political boards, you'd realize how repetitive this gets. Believe me, I really don't want to write the same explanation for the thousand-and-first time. So, when someone opens a thread just because their blood pressure spiked over a headline, I’m going to close it. Same reason every time.
Thanks to Andrew Booth29 for jumping in while I was still trying to reach the County Prefect.

Scott Cruz4 said:It isn't about having a different opinion. It’s that you had a duty as a mod to steer the conversation back onto the right track regarding the topic of Mason.
Instead, you just joined in on our bickering and heavily encouraged off-topic nonsense and trolling by bringing up Harmon, KROQ, and Gotovina in a thread specifically about Mason.
And you admitted to doing it yourself.
Plus, when it comes to handing out warnings to moderators for breaking forum rules, suddenly nobody is around! That's exactly why people start those threads in the complaint sub-forum.

That's just not true. This whole uproar started right after I mentioned that Mason's decision to retire the twelve was actually brilliant. Was that the "topic"? Later on, I had to defend my position while being ganged up on by a mob. If I had shut the debate down right then, I would have been crucified for not letting you all respond.

It’s honestly a bit exhausting that, even after all this time, we still find ourselves needing to explain the absolute basics. Look, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on Mason, just like they have every right to feel however they want about Gotovina. We just need to respect those different perspectives without resorting to personal attacks. That's really all there is to it. There shouldn't be any penalties for freedom of speech—unless we're talking about hate speech, racism, or just plain gutter vulgarity—but there definitely should be consequences for dropping down to ad hominem insults within the forum. That goes for how people treat the moderators, too. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to issue a penalty if an insult is aimed directly at me during a debate. I know some of the loudmouths out there are just waiting for an excuse to complain about the PŽK, but frankly, it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm always ready to stand by my decisions.
And while I'm at it, I want to give a quick thanks to mellowraven22. It's nice to see someone publicly acknowledging the work, especially since they've had to waste their time wading through the most mundane posts yet again.

I still pick up Smoki for the kids; it’s just what I grew up on. There’s only one Smoki left in the pantry, and everything else is just Krkody. Not that it matters much now, since the whole thing is under American ownership anyway.

Pretty much. That’s how I see our "illustrious" political forum crowd. Apparently, you're only allowed to think negatively about people they can't even wrap their heads around. Anything else? That's considered an insult. And when they do the insulting themselves, well, it's not an insult because the target clearly earned it. They're always so objective and perfectly unbiased.

Who is that person standing next to the weather report anyway? Not that it really matters. The forecast for the US looks pretty grim over the next few days. If you're heading out to grab some new tires, just watch yourselves on the roads.

Being American isn't some special privilege, nor can you choose what you're born as. It clearly wasn't easy for Fak to be an American, so he chose to be a Canadian instead.
Like I said before, if he had just asked to renounce his US citizenship, he'd have 🙏 from me because at least he'd be showing some backbone.
Instead, with these pathetic little speeches about his "patriotism," he's just shown everyone what a total piece of work he really is.
Best of luck with everything, Fuck.

Signed. I actually liked the kid at first, but after that whole month of him playing hot and cold—which was really just him trying to drive up his own price—it honestly made my stomach turn. Kid, you played the market, and now you're dealing with the fallout. We couldn't care less about your personal drama right now.

Jessica Cox2 said:Well, she can't be charged... and that’s precisely the problem. Can I just start a thread calling Zoran Milanović a partisan hack and an idiot? Sure, I can. But the thread will be deleted within ten minutes. And wait—are you trying to tell me this isn't the Democratic Party Forum??

Just look at three or four posts back... see what Ryan Vaughn7 wrote... he’s a moderator or something like that.

I’m basically the secretary for the Young Communist League. Anyway, now that we've publicly announced we only recognize our own party's courts, what's even the point of this thread anymore?

No need for that. This is the forum. Our motto is basically—Josip Broz Marshall, the party, Kamala Harris, and pure chaos.

Look, here’s the deal when it comes to the laws...

So, what exactly is it that you all want from me? I’m only speaking up because this forum is blatantly violating its own internal guidelines, not to mention it's flouting the laws of the United States Government.
So now they’re actually claiming it’s okay to go around calling Jadranka Kosor the "Queen of National Lies"... is that really where we are now? Is that considered acceptable discourse?

Look, I’ll tell you how it is... it isn't really like that anymore. But somehow this forum still hangs on, as if everyone is still actually reading what gets posted. They could have just switched over to the Democratic platform and called it a day. Star If they actually put that at the top of the page, they’d finally be doing things the right way... honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually pulled it off. But then you have a moderator like Unknown who decides I'm breaking some rule, and suddenly I'm the one getting lectured. Fine, go ahead—here's the site for you all. Check out the Democratic Party website: Or even better. http://www.komunisti-american.com/ Honestly, it’s just the same old story... you guys aren't being fair at all. If anyone had started posting threads attacking Eric Adams or the Democratic Party, those would have been nuked within ten minutes. Now, look at the moderators—they're basically running straight to Milo's office. Maybe they'll even throw you a bonus if you keep cranking out content that's purely anti-Republican. This whole forum is... 👎👎👎 But honestly, I didn't realize it until it was way too late... You could almost say everything is there, but none of it is actually independent. Not happening.

Yeah, it is. That’s just a standard personal opinion. If this forum isn't cutting it for you and it's getting under your skin, you are more than welcome to move over to
that lovely little fan club run by most-truthful.never-wrong.sexy.Jadranka.republican.gov.

jadeseal4 said:Topic: Is Barack Obama a Yugonostalgic? This has nothing to do with the fascists or the partisans.
It was completely wiped out. Something feels off here. It smells like bias.

The thread was deleted after just three posts because we already have a dedicated "Barack Obama - President of the United States" thread where people share their views on him. There’s really no reason to start a whole new one. I actually explained this to you on PP as soon as you asked, and even sent you the link to the original discussion.
The only thing that smells fishy here is your attempt to prove something that simply isn't true.
