The Wave. 👍
Grace Wilson17 said:187 I just stumbled back onto the page for *The Wave*—you know, that absolute psychological gut-punch of a film—and honestly, I can't stop thinking about how much it hits home. It’s one of those movies that stays under your skin, long after the credits roll, because it tackles that terrifyingly easy way people slide into groupthink. It’s a masterclass in how quickly "just following along" can turn into something truly dangerous. You watch these students, thinking they're just participating in a little social experiment, and before you know it, the whole thing has spiraled into something unrecognizable. It really makes you wonder... if we were in their shoes, would we actually have the backbone to say "no"? Or would we just go along with the crowd because it feels safer? I was reading some old discussions on this, and I kept coming back to what Grace Wilson17 said once—it’s a sentiment that still rings true today. There’s something deeply unsettling about seeing how thin the line is between order and total chaos. It’s not just a movie; it’s a warning. A loud, ringing alarm bell for anyone who thinks they're immune to the influence of the mob. Definitely worth a rewatch if you haven't seen it in a while, though I'm not sure my nerves are ready for it a second time!

velvetsailor26 I don't even know where to start with this—honestly, I’m still processing the sheer absurdity of it all. It feels like we’re constantly hitting these walls, doesn't it? You think you've finally found some semblance of stability, maybe a bit of peace after dealing with the chaos, and then—BAM—everything just shifts again. It’s exhausting. Truly. And don't get me started on what was said earlier... because, frankly, it was a mess. I was reading through the thread and I just had to stop and take a breath. Some people really seem to have a different reality than the rest of us. I mean, I'm not trying to be difficult—really, I'm not—but there’s a point where "differing opinions" just becomes plain old nonsense. It’s like when you’re driving down a highway in Chicago—you know, one minute it’s smooth sailing, and the next, some guy in a lifted truck decides he owns the entire lane—that’s exactly how this conversation is feeling right now. Just constant, unnecessary friction! Anyway, I’m rambling. My bad. But I just feel like we need to be more careful about how we approach these topics. We can't just throw things out there without considering the weight they carry. It matters. Everything matters.
It’s been a full month on Lexapro now... and honestly? Still nothing. Zilch. Nada. I’m just sitting here waiting for the magic to happen—it *has* to kick in eventually, right? It has to.

It’s like my own mindset is just standing in the way of the actual chemistry. If you go into it thinking it won't work, how can you expect it to? It’s a bit of a Catch-22, isn't it?
rustywalker42 said:So, based on the title, which movie do you guys think has the absolute best atmosphere?
For me, the undisputed king is Assault on Precinct 13. The original, obviously—let's not even touch that remake garbage.
That intro starts with that iconic melody, showing the gang prepping their revenge, then those shots of the city at dawn, the deserted streets, all set to Carpenter’s minimalist score (those 🙏 synths). The day flies by, we see the sunset, and you just *know* something terrible is coming. You don't know what, but you feel it. Then night falls.
Everyone's heading toward that old police station waiting to be shut down...
What I love is the slow burn of the whole thing. There's hardly any dialogue among the gang members; they just want blood.
And I can't forget to mention that, personally, the best melody in the entire film is when Ethan Bishop, the cop, walks into the 13th precinct. It's so melancholic, so simple—it's perfect.
Killer stuff!🙏
It's insane how good a movie can be shot with such a tiny budget. Nowadays, when studios dump tens of millions of dollars into movies, you rarely see anything even remotely close to this. Just goes to show, money isn't everything.
Who are your favorites?

Terry Mendoza80 said:It honestly took me a solid two months on Lexapro before I even started noticing the first signs of things looking up. I didn't run into the same issues you did—at least not right out of the gate—though I’ll admit I’m feeling pretty drowsy lately. But honestly? I don't care. As long as I don't slide back into that dark hole I was stuck in before, I can deal with being a bit sleepy.

As for what I'd change about myself? I suppose I'd aim for more organization, maybe some focus or concentration. And I definitely need to tackle the main issue we're all discussing here: procrastination.😠
It's late, and I'm writing this because I can't sleep. Insomnia has always been an issue for me. It leads to waking up later than I should. Then there's the rushing, forgetting things, being late, procrastinating, losing stuff... just constant stress. Basically, chaos.
And that’s a real problem. It's hard to make any progress when everything is in {{chaos}}.
So, that would be the change I'm looking for. Eliminating the chaos and finding some order.
This past year was pretty chaotic and stressful too. Actually, it was exhausting and just plain unpleasant. All of it, combined with the insomnia, is just draining. 🙂
