Kate Cox2 said:Regardless of what the original poster says, I can't help but wonder if the story her child told her is actually 100% accurate and truthful... Kids have this way of twisting entire situations, whether they realize it or not, and you end up dealing with a much bigger mess and a misunderstanding far worse than reality.

Ariana Grande—I feel like there’s been more than enough coverage in the news about parents threatening teachers, parents physically assaulting professors, or even those who show up to school armed... and so on, and so forth. When you work in an environment where these things are becoming increasingly common, it is perfectly natural to fear which parent might act out next. You find yourself wondering if you're going to be the one who ends up getting screwed over... so you just take the path of least resistance. You give them an A if you genuinely fear that dealing with a crazy dad might cause you real problems—because, oh boy, imagine if he loses it because his kid got a B in English instead of an A.

—I know of a case where a mother openly demanded an unearned grade for her daughter in math. And no, she didn't even want her child to at least earn the grade (honestly, the student was hovering between a C and a B)—she explicitly told the school board that she would go to the local news outlets and claim that the teacher had "touched" her daughter...
What are you supposed to do in that situation?
—I once worked at a school located right near a hospital... a little girl who was heading home from the hospital was complaining about how she had been assigned a new teacher who was "ugly, old, and mean." It was only the beginning of the school year, so I couldn't fathom how the child knew anything about the new teacher—since she hadn't even met her yet—and then the girl admitted herself that her mom was the one who told her all that.😕
How are we expected to expect that child to ever love or respect this new teacher when her mother planted those ideas in her head right from the jump?
—Just a few weeks ago, an eighth grader at my school beat up a boy in his class while three other kids stood lookout to make sure nobody walked in... They were given disciplinary warnings, but the very next day, after the notices were sent out, the father showed up. He started screaming at the homeroom teacher and threatened her, demanding she erase the incident from the record (as if she even has that power, or as if she made the decision herself). Now he’s filed a lawsuit against the school. He has no idea what legal grounds he’s even using, and frankly, it doesn't matter whether he wins or loses (he won't), but what does that poor teacher need in her life? She's 60 years old, looking forward to retirement, and just wants to relax—why should she have to live in fear of whether that dad is going to corner her in the parking lot and punch her in the face next time???
—Once, a mother actually attacked me because her son received a failing grade on a project—specifically because it was the third time he failed to turn in homework, a rule established at the start of the year. To be honest, for this third assignment, the boy claimed his mom accidentally threw it into the fireplace (🤦), and the mother attacked me, claiming it was MY obligation to call her personally and verify if she really did throw the homework away...
I couldn't explain to the woman that it wasn't my job to hunt down every single parent and verify if their kid's homework was actually eaten by the family dog. Besides—who is going to pay for my extra phone bill?? But she still insisted that it was my responsibility.🤣
These are just some very recent examples from my relatively short career in education... but these kinds of things happen every single day in every school, and they are happening more and more frequently...
And quite simply, when you work in an atmosphere like that, in an environment like that—you just become afraid. Truly afraid. No joke. Especially if you're a woman, or younger... well... in that case, it really is easier to just hand out an A if they ask for it. Because you think to yourself—what do I have to gain? Is it worth risking someone waiting for me outside and breaking my teeth? So, fine, here's your A—in the hope that one day these parents will realize what kind of idiots they've turned their children into (though, unfortunately, they probably never will).

😲😲😲 So, following that logic, the teacher ought to go out of her way to protect the aggressor, because why should a woman nearing retirement deal with such harassment and fear? By that same flawed reasoning, why would police officers bother arresting criminals or judges bother sentencing them? After all, once those convicts are released, any citizen could simply hunt them down and settle the score themselves.🤷
...I mean, I recognize that the situation is undeniably unpleasant... but there are established systems for a reason. There is a police department for this; a parent who resorts to intimidation should simply be reported to the authorities.🤷

ironpanther19 said:God, the pain I'm dealing with right now is absolutely brutal. 😢

Last night was such a nightmare that I ended up doubling up on two Advil tablets—honestly, they were the only thing sitting in my medicine cabinet—and I think I actually overdid it because I just woke up feeling like I’m still half-unconscious from them. 😲

Does anyone have any actual recommendations for painkillers that won't wreck a sensitive stomach? See, if I take anything standard like Motrin, Aleve, or even Tylenol, my stomach acid goes into overdrive and I'm left feeling nauseous and dealing with that constant, burning heartburn. (I've always had a pretty temperamental stomach, so this isn't exactly new, but it doesn't make it better.)
I am seriously at my breaking point with this pain; I can't take it anymore. 😢

Personally, I find Neofen Forte to be quite exceptional. It manages to bypass all those typical gastric issues or that nagging heartburn one usually expects; in fact, I’ve found I can take it even on an empty stomach without any drama, which is a rarity. While it certainly packs a punch, its efficacy is undeniable. It has been my reliable recourse for knocking out everything from debilitating migraines and menstrual cramps to the sheer agony of a toothache. As for the potential long-term side effects or how much damage it might be doing to my system? To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less. When you're being torn apart by pain, you tend to stop worrying about the fine print.😁

...look, speaking from my own lived experience, absolutely not... I have swallowed more kinds of pills in my life than I care to count😁...and yet, I gave birth to two perfectly healthy children😍

... even though I was taking things like Tylenol, Advil, and even once some Voltaren before I even realized I was pregnant, I still wouldn't recommend it.🤷

...mine finally arrived this morning, and I have to say, they are incredibly painful😠, arriving a full twelve days late. I’ll admit, I was starting to get genuinely anxious—even though we were being extremely careful using condoms that had passed inspection😁 without fail. It’s just that over the last year, my cycle has been remarkably consistent, showing up almost like clockwork, right on schedule every single month...

...to be clear, I don't have PCOS, nor do I deal with hypothyroidism, and I certainly wasn't under any significant stress last month; if anything, I've been feeling quite relaxed and content lately😲

...as soon as this passes, I'm heading straight to the specialist appointment I scheduled a week ago while I was still sitting there in suspense...

...but essentially, I am curious: is it actually possible for PCOS to manifest out of nowhere like this, especially after having already gone through two pregnancies?🤷

...also, does anyone happen to know if one can manage a Maestro card via installments at a Kroger? I’ve been scouring the internet, but I can't find any clear information regarding their specific payment terms.

Susan Harris said:Let’s be clear: this isn't some sweeping indictment of women who move quickly from one partner to the next. That’s a lazy assumption. The reality is far more insidious. Some women contract the virus with their very first partner. The core of the issue lies in a profound lack of concern; because they aren't exhibiting any physical symptoms, they essentially function as silent carriers, moving through life entirely unaware that they are passing it along.

Honestly, what does it even matter if they aren't switching partners? That’s missing the forest for the trees. The core issue here is that many young women seem to harbor this misguided notion that if they stick with their first partner, they are somehow shielded from contracting an STI, or conversely, that their ability to conceive is somehow guaranteed by that initial encounter. It’s a fundamental misunderstanding of biology. The frequency of partner changes isn't the variable at play here; rather, we are looking at a massive deficit in basic health literacy. What we desperately need isn't just another vaccine rollout, but comprehensive, old-fashioned education.😁It is my firm belief that by implementing mandatory vaccination, we are inadvertently fostering a dangerous sense of complacency; we risk creating a future where the general public's awareness regarding the inherent perils of unprotected sexual activity is significantly diminished.🤷

Michelle James13 said:We’ve been into the second semester for a little while now, and the grades have finally started rolling in—much to my profound disappointment 😁. One thing I’ve noticed lately is that the grading standards seem incredibly harsh; I certainly don't recall things being this rigid back when I was in school. In my son's class, everyone seems to be stuck with mediocre Cs and Ds, and Bs are apparently a rarity. To make matters worse, I hear that last year's group only had three students receive any kind of academic honors at all. Honestly, it feels excessive. In my day, almost everyone in my class cruised through the first two grades with high marks, and let's be clear, we weren't exactly Nobel laureates or child prodigies. If someone had told me back then that my child would come home with a C in reading today, I wouldn't have believed them. A C in first grade? It just feels wrong 😲. Look, I’m not going to obsess over every single letter on a report card—he'll learn to read eventually—but I can't help but wonder if there's a better way to handle this. Since they aren't allowed to bring tests home, I have no idea which specific concepts he's struggling with, which makes it nearly impossible to sit down and review the material with him effectively.
Anyway, that's my experience. How are things looking in your school districts?

...honestly, I fail to see how it should be any different😕...how else could one even begin to implement rigorous standards for knowledge or lack thereof...perhaps once they reach high school, but elementary school is something everyone is expected to pass regardless 🤷
...and frankly, an A should be somewhat elusive; it ought to be a reward for truly exceptional mastery, at least in theory... I genuinely struggle to grasp why parents feel so let down when their children aren't on the Honor Roll, immediately pointing fingers at the teachers or the faculty... to earn an A, one really should have to meet a higher set of criteria, something more substantial than just memorizing facts and regurgitating them... if you're just doing the bare minimum of absorbing the curriculum, a C is perfectly sufficient 😁

bluehawk73 said:Just because you vaccinate a child doesn't mean they can abandon protection during sexual encounters, nor does it imply they’ll be engaging in reckless behavior. It simply means we have mitigated the risk of cervical cancer caused by certain strains of HPV.

What kind of subtext are we actually feeding to young girls when we push these vaccinations at age thirteen to protect them against an STI like HPV? The unspoken message being broadcast is one of perceived safety and readiness for sexual activity.

Timothy Palmer28 said:The case itself is solid enough without breaking the bank, and as for the graphics card, just grab an HD4670.

..thanks..does the specific brand actually matter—like whether I pick up a PEAK, EVGA, ASUS, or PowerColor version?.. much appreciated.
Greetings to you!

I am heading over to Micro Center tomorrow to finalize my system configuration, but I find myself stuck in a bit of a mental loop regarding which graphics card to pull the trigger on. I would truly appreciate some seasoned insight before I commit. I tend to spend an obsessive amount of time immersed in various gaming titles, so performance is paramount. Between these four options—all of which sit at roughly the same price point—which one stands out as the superior choice for someone who lives for their games?

The EVGA Radeon HD3850 stands before us, a component that carries 512MB of DDR3 memory and utilizes a standard PCI-E interface, offering a suite of connectivity options including VGA, DVI, and HDMI.

The pinnacle of its era: the EVGA Radeon HD3850. This unit packs 512MB of DDR3 memory and comes equipped with both TV-out capabilities and dual DVI ports for those who still value versatile connectivity.

EVGA Radeon HD4670, 512MB DDR3, PCI-E, DVI

The PEAK Radeon HD4670 stands as a modest specimen within its class, offering 512MB of DDR3 memory paired with a 128-bit interface. It provides the essential connectivity one might expect from this era, including both HDMI and DVI ports. While it won't be breaking any speed records in modern high-fidelity gaming, it remains a functional component for those seeking a baseline level of graphical performance.

...And here is the remainder of the configuration:

DDR2 2x1GB PC6400 (800MHz), Kingmax
The EVGA 450W unit stands as a standard ATX 2.0 power supply, featuring dual 12V rails and active PFC alongside AFC. It utilizes a 12cm fan for cooling and provides two SATA connectors for your drive configurations.
ASUS EP45-DS3 motherboard, LGA 775 socket, Intel iP45 chipset, DDRII support, SATA II, FireWire, Gigabit LAN.
The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 box remains a quintessential specimen of its era—a 775-pin workhorse delivering 3.0GHz across two cores with a 1333MHz bus and 6MB of cache. It’s the kind of reliable, unpretentious hardware that defined a generation of desktop computing.
The Seagate ST642JJ 640GB SATA-300 7200rpm 16MB hard drive remains a staple of consideration for those looking to balance capacity against reliable performance. It offers a respectable 7200 RPM spindle speed, ensuring that data retrieval doesn't feel like dragging an anchor through molasses, while the 16MB cache provides just enough breathing room for more fluid read/write operations. In an era where everything moves at the speed of light, there is still a certain pragmatic value in such a steady, dependable workhorse for storage needs.
The Samsung SM 2032BW stands as a solid contender in the 20-inch LCD market, offering a crisp visual experience that doesn't compromise on performance. With a rapid 2 ms response time, it handles motion with a level of fluidity that keeps ghosting at bay, making it quite capable for more demanding tasks. The DVI connectivity ensures compatibility with most standard setups, while those deep, rich blacks provide a level of contrast that truly makes colors pop. It’s a reliable choice if you're looking for clarity and depth in a compact frame.
If you find yourself in need of a reliable workhorse for optical media, this LG GSA-H55/H58/GH22 series stands as a dependable option for those who still value the tangible permanence of a disc. This particular unit is a DVD+RW/-RW/RAM drive, capable of handling everything from standard rewritable formats to Dual Layer media at speeds up to 20x. It arrives in a sleek black finish and comes in a bulk packaging format—ideal if you aren't concerned about fancy retail boxes and just want the hardware to get the job done. Whether you're archiving data or burning media, it offers the kind of versatile functionality that keeps an older workstation or a dedicated backup station truly useful.
The Corsair mid Tower is a blacked-out chassis featuring integrated USB and FireWire ports, equipped with two 120mm fans and an air duct—though please note, this specific unit does not include a power supply.

By the way, could anyone point me toward a more sensible case option? This one feels a bit overpriced for what it actually offers.$113Should I pull the trigger on this, or just let it go? I’m planning to pick everything up at Micro Center, but I can't help but feel a bit hesitant. To add to my uncertainty, if they don't have certain components sitting on the shelf in my local branch right now, will they actually be able to source them and get them in for me? It feels like I'm throwing a handful of questions at you all at once, but I would truly appreciate any insight you could offer. Thank you.
Female vs. male OB-GYNs: Any preferences? in Women's Health ·
...frankly, I couldn't care less about any other factor, provided they possess true expertise, genuine compassion, and a meticulous attention to detail... and if I’m being honest, there is only one individual I know who actually meets those standards, and he happens to be a man...
...I find myself somewhat perplexed by this... I am aware that these two medications are administered to pregnant women facing the threat of miscarriage, specifically intended to preserve the pregnancy... yet now I see they are also utilized to induce menstruation. How can the same substances function in such diametrically opposed ways? It seems counterintuitive; wouldn't they simply trigger the expulsion of the fetus in those high-risk pregnancies if that were the case? 😕

...it’s most likely just an ingrown hair...I used to deal with that myself quite often, though in my experience, it usually resolved itself within a week or two at most...If you notice any more leaking, try disinfecting the area with some rubbing alcohol, but honestly, you should probably schedule an appointment with your gynecologist sooner rather than later...
...and look, if your doctor isn't able to squeeze you in immediately, don't hesitate to head straight to the emergency OB-GYN department at the hospital...you can always sort out the referral paperwork after the fact...or, if you have the means, just book a quick consultation with a private specialist instead...
Don't wash your hair during your period?!? WTF in Women's Health ·
...while I was recovering in the hospital, I found myself listening to the most absurd nonsense, and coming from women who considered themselves so highly educated. They actually had the nerve to label me as mentally unstable simply because I insisted on taking a shower once I had finally caught my breath after giving birth. It got so ridiculous that they even summoned the head nurse to try and lecture me into submission 😂
...these are certainly grim tales, yet they didn't emerge from thin air. Long, long ago, back when people bathed in basins or wooden tubs, they wouldn't dream of letting a woman who was still bleeding ruin the entire supply of water. At best, she might have been allowed to soak at the very end, but given how sensitive a woman is following childbirth—especially during such heavy flow—she would have likely contracted some nasty infection from the previous users, whether it was a grandmother, a grandfather, or anyone else. It just wouldn't have ended well 🤷
