I’ve definitely had that happen—that feeling of sleep paralysis when you're desperately trying to force yourself awake. If I remember right, it usually happens when I feel something unknown creeping toward me and I just can't move away. I’ve also had those moments where I try to snap myself out of it by sheer willpower from deep within my bones. It works, but man, it leaves you wiped out, like you actually went for a long run or something.
But honestly, nothing beats this one weirdly vivid dream I had where I kept getting shot. Like, multiple times. The pain was intense, and that cold sensation you always see in Hollywood movies felt incredibly real. My brain was totally convinced it was happening—that I was actually dying and bleeding out. There was this heavy feeling of life fading away right up until the exact second I jolted awake, leaving me with this freezing, hollow sensation, almost like someone had physically drained a pint of blood or iron out of me. I usually bounce back from sleep paralysis pretty quick, but it took me a long time to shake off that nightmare about getting shot.
So, a mosquito bit my forearm earlier today, and now there’s this weird little bump there. It gets all red whenever I scratch it, too—kind of itchy and tender if I touch it. Do I need to be worried about this, or is it just one of those harmless reactions to a bite? Usually, when I get bitten, the redness fades away within an hour at most and that's it.
How are you paying for everything, and which stores are you hitting up? I see you're based out of San Diego.
Regarding the SSD stuff, they're actually pretty affordable these days—you can grab a decent 256GB one without breaking the bank. Honestly, I still run all my heavy AAA titles off an HDD and I don't feel the need to upgrade to an SSD myself. But hey, to each their own, right?
Just put some black electrical tape 🤣 Honestly, I think it’s actually better when a keyboard doesn't have that annoying underglow lighting everything up under the keys. If you can't see the glow, it's way easier to spot all the dust and crumbs hiding in there. 😁
Oh yeah, and when you've got all those extra keys sitting right next to the important ones like ESC, it’s way too easy to fat-finger the wrong thing. 😁 My keyboard isn't even mechanical, but whenever I'm typing, people on Discord tell me it sounds just like one. 🤣 Back in the day, if someone was helping me find a driver or something online, they'd spend half an hour just squinting at my keyboard trying to find specific letters or symbols. 😬 It's because the layout is just totally different from what most people are used to.
I'm really digging these Scorpion K-series keyboards, but the link doesn't actually say what the real differences are between the K9 and the K20 models. If I were in your shoes—especially with that budget—I’d honestly just go for the K9.
Also, that Speedlinak one your buddy is trying to sell you? It doesn't have that big left Shift key you're looking for.😁
Mine is a Razer Marauder StarCraft ii gaming Keyboard. I picked it up for $100 right before some tournament at Walmart during a massive sale from $267. Man, I felt like such a sucker when I was hunting for those flashy LED gaming boards.
I actually just hit my 10k milestone here recently too 🤣
The GTX 950 isn't actually a bad card by any means, but you're definitely hitting that i3 bottleneck. Honestly, these days, there just aren't many new games out there that can run smoothly on a dual-core setup without running into major issues.

It’s a top-tier monitor, honestly, but it’s way out of his budget at $667 (27''). Plus, I only saw it on eBay, not through any local Procurement channels. Looks like it’s running somewhere around $400-$500, give or take.

It’s not really just about being in a pro league. I mean, there are plenty of people who just set aside a specific budget for whatever they want to spend. If I decide to drop some cash on $1333, fine. But "stretching" the budget by an extra $167—that's not exactly pocket change. If that were the case, people would be jumping from $2,000 to $2,500+ without even blinking. I remember when the 970 first dropped, maybe two years ago? It was around $3,200 back then and even that felt like a massive stretch for me. I wouldn't have paid a cent more; I would've just waited for the price to tank. Of course, there are always people for whom none of this matters and they don't care about the cost at all.
When you're picking out RAM, you can't just look at the capacity; the frequency (MHz) has to match up too. And seriously, watch those motherboard slots—they aren't all created equal, and things won't always work if you just plug them in anywhere. If you’ve got four slots and one stick is already sitting in the first slot, there’s a good chance the second one won't play nice in the very next spot. You might have to skip a slot and try the third one instead. On my setup, for instance, I have four slots available. I already had an 8 GB dual kit occupying slots 1 and 3, but when I tried adding a new dual kit into slots 2 and 4, my PC just refused to boot. I ended up having to pull everything out and reorganize the whole thing—I put the first kit in slots 1 and 2, and then the second kit went right into slots 3 and 4. As for voltage, it's usually not a huge deal. My system runs just fine with a mix of 1.35V and 1.5V paired together.
Lately, his songs have just felt so heavy, you know? Like, pure depression. It was pretty obvious he was pouring all that pain into his music, but I guess the people around him just didn't realize how much he was actually struggling.
If you’re looking to upgrade your rig, honestly? If I were in your shoes, I’d probably save up a few more bucks and just build a completely fresh system from scratch. Patching together old parts feels like trying to fix up a beat-up old Chevy—it kind of makes sense in the moment, sure, but it’s just not worth the headache if you're looking at the long term, especially since you're stuck on such an outdated socket.
I’ve got my resolution set to 2560x1080, but for some reason, I can't push it past 60Hz without things getting weird. My only real option right now is to try a custom resolution, which feels a bit too much like I'm playing chicken with an overclock. I only really noticed that screen tearing happening while I was playing Call of Duty multiplayer.
If the manufacturer's website says a monitor hits 75Hz, but your PC is only showing 59 or 60Hz once it's hooked up, it’s usually a sign you might need to manually overclock it to reach that 75Hz mark. That is, assuming the hardware actually has the guts to handle it. For instance, my Samsung Monitor keeps sitting at 60Hz even though the official Samsung site claims it can do 75Hz. I really ought to try overclocking it, even if the screen tearing isn't a huge deal and only pops up during certain games. Honestly, most 75Hz monitors work perfectly fine just running at 60Hz without being a total eyesore.
Anthony Jackson2 said:Wait, does your transit pass actually show your birthdate? Mine definitely doesn't.🤷
It’s actually the opposite—you really want to stay away from the doors. If you're right there, you're the first target, and by the time you realize they've even boarded, it's too late.
That’s the thing. Those validation machines are usually right by the doors. When the bus or train is packed tight, it’s hard to tell if enforcement is on board without seeing that machine active. Usually, the screen shows if an inspector is currently running a check.
feralangler70 said:I was sitting by the back doors, and my two friends and I were the very first ones she went after. As for complaining about the fine, it lists the officer's ID, the date, and the route, so I could technically contest it, but honestly, I’d rather just not run into her again.
The card doesn't have a birthdate on it. I feel pretty silly for even mentioning it to her, but like I said, she refused to give my ID back. Everything happened so fast once she kicked me off the bus and things just spiraled into this huge drama. Maybe you guys think this is funny, but I’m really not a confrontational person. I was just trying to be reasonable and told her I’d just get off the bus, but she just kept getting more and more aggressive. At that point, I couldn't even tell if she had actually called the cops or not. I just wanted to get away from her as fast as possible, even if it meant taking the fine. It was easily one of the worst interactions I've ever had with transit staff.
They definitely know whether to hit the front or back doors. Sometimes they'll grab both ends at once if there's a pair of them walking toward the middle from either side.
Honestly, they probably only threaten to call the police to scare people into paying. It’s not worth their time to deal with the headache of a cheap fare$3.25 and then waiting around for a cop to show up. When I was a kid, they used to pull me over all the time and threaten me with the police, too, but nothing ever actually happened. No cops, no nothing.
By the way, I always hear that when people get caught, they refuse to give their real info or just make stuff up. I don't blame them, though. It feels pretty stupid to pay a massive fine$3.25 just for a few minutes of riding.
If the MTA had a system more like those local suburban shuttles, or if Amtrak charged based on the actual distance traveled, I bet there would be way less fare evasion and fewer headaches for everyone.
If you don't have an MTA pass and you're thinking about riding just a couple of stops, my advice is to hang out near the doors when you hop on. Keep a close eye on that yellow validator, too. Sometimes the system glitches during inspections and the screen flashes "Inspection in Progress" in bright red letters, which can be a bit of a giveaway.
As for the fare inspectors themselves—look, I get it, they’re just doing their jobs. But if one of them starts getting aggressive or tries to pull some nonsense like threatening to slam the emergency brakes just to issue a fine, I wouldn't sit there and take it. I’d head straight to the depot to file a formal complaint against them. If you didn't catch their name, just tell the MTA management exactly which line you were on and what time it happened.
