And, if I may ask, what was the final damage to the wallet?
$2,500 plus whatever we owe them for lodging.
Alexander Ruiz2 said:Visa played ours too, they're fantastic!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I definitely agree with the bold part!
No amount of flowers, cakes, food, tablecloths, or centerpieces is going to entertain a crowd like a great band does. They played stuff that I personally barely even listen to, but man, it was incredible...😉
Jerry Sanchez53 said:The real kicker is that beyond being phenomenal musicians, they are incredibly professional. We provided them with a very specific song list and requested certain cues for specific moments—like the bouquet toss and such—and they followed our timeline to the letter. They were truly brilliant! 🙏
And the lead singer has such a stunning voice, doesn't she? I still get goosebumps just thinking about some of those performances! 👍
I love seeing comments like these. 😍
If only we had booked them first. 🙏
Larry Hall said:So, we were really hoping to have the wedding on Friday the 13th... but apparently, two different priests won't agree to perform the ceremony on that specific day. We're planning on just going through with a civil ceremony at the courthouse instead... though, I suppose I don't really mind one way or the other, I guess.
That logic doesn't hold up at all...
Friday the 13th is pure superstition; it has absolutely nothing to do with the church or faith.🙂
Kyle Ortiz2 said:I know the 11th and 12th are wide open, but I'd personally stick to the summer months. Less chance of rain or wind, longer days, and all that.
Kyle Ortiz2 said:What do you guys think? Do I have any shot at finding a venue in San Diego for 200–250 people—including the band and photographer—with only nine months left until September 2009? Or should I just push everything back to May or June 2010?
It all feels so far away. You make this huge decision and then you're stuck waiting for a year and a half.🙂
When I tried to book for early September 2009, nothing we wanted was available, so we ended up settling for October 17th.🤷
Kyle Ortiz2 said:Greetings to everyone. I'm looking for some advice regarding an event in Los Angeles. I need your recommendations for a solid DJ, a band, and a photographer. How far in advance should I get everything booked, and what kind of budget should I set aside for deposits? We're expecting roughly 200 to 250 people.
I stayed at the Marriott...
We booked 13 months out and put down a $1,200 deposit.
A photographer from Los Angeles, Ivica Lisjak, and Viva... they also had to book and pay deposits a full year in advance.👍
Matthew Kelly3 said:Has anyone here dealt with facial palsy before?
My two-year-old was just diagnosed with it.
I know a boy who developed it at age seven, apparently due to some kind of exposure to the elements...
Generally speaking, physical therapy and daily exercises resolved the issue within two to three weeks.👍
I have a question regarding Topamax...
About a year ago, my boyfriend collapsed and lost consciousness... He was exhausted, several things hit him at once—low blood pressure, intense heat...
He went through all the necessary testing, and according to him, his EEG showed increased brain activity. He also suffers from frequent headaches.
They put him on 25mg of Topamax for a year. No one ever mentioned anything about epilepsy.
Has anyone else dealt with a situation like this?

Trust me, nothing beats them. (We just need to see Blackie in action 😍)
Hahaha... unbelievable. 🙂
Either put me to work or my father-in-law. 😉
Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent bakery or pastry shop in San Diego? 🙂
Aaron Walker7 said:Maybe $50 per person at most. Honestly, though, I wouldn't complain if it ended up being even less than that.
Wedding in California topic 😉

Now THAT is what I call perfection! 🤣
Our whole theme is centered around shades of lavender, and we're even doing lavender-scented cushions for the thank-you gifts... so having a lavender cake would just be the icing on the cake! 🤣
Absolutely perfect cake, hands down the most brilliant cream flavor I've ever had.👍
Does anyone know a good bakery in Seattle?🤷
Or am I going to have to go from shop to shop tasting everything... lord, what a chore.🤣
Noah Brooks6 said:...don't miss out on the cakes from Orient on Maksimir, I can't recall the exact street number, but they are worth the hunt...highly recommended!
I agree, they're wonderful—every single variety...
The lavender cake was particularly impressive 🙏
though, in my opinion, all their cakes are brilliant...
Since I'm getting married in San Diego, I really need to start a tasting tour of the local cakes there. 😉
Could someone take a look at this...
My blood work came back mostly normal, except for a few things...
Cholesterol is 4.9, where the limit is 5.0
Triglycerides are 1.76, against a recommended max of 1.70
ALT is 6, while the recommendation is 10-36
Regarding coagulation, my oral therapy range is 1.0, compared to the recommended 2.0-3.5
I'm 25, I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I'm not overweight...
Is there any reason to be concerned?
Thanks🙏
Great topic. I’m actually laughing my head off reading this...
So, here's the deal with my grandmother... she acts like she’s some kind of genius, eavesdropping on every single conversation in the house...
The other day, I was on the phone with my mom, telling her how bad my period cramps were hitting me, but mentioning I’d already had two cups of coffee so it should wrap up soon...
Sure enough, fifteen minutes later, things settle down and I decide to head out to the beach for a swim... My grandmother nearly has a stroke right then and there, asking me what on earth I'm doing and where I think I'm going... all because she's terrified I might accidentally go swimming while on my period...
I tried unsuccessfully to explain the concept of a tampon to her, then just gave up and went to jump in the water...
A different time, I wasn't even on my period, but she still had to chime in... A friend and I were heading out, getting our makeup done... I asked her, "Hey, could you please help me with some concealer for these dark circles?"
At that exact moment, Grandma drifts past us like a ghost and says: "Yeah, that's right, girls get those dark circles when they're on their periods..."
I responded, totally stunned: "But I'm not even on mine right now."
Grandma: "I know everything..."
Good grief...😕
