Why was the masculinity thread locked? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, I started a thread over in Politics about masculinity—basically just using the same logic as the threads on feminism—and the whole thing was nuked immediately. Why? And who exactly is pulling the trigger on these deletions?

If we’re allowed to have discussions about feminism, why isn't there space for masculinity?

If we get to talk about discrimination against women, why can't we talk about discrimination against men?🤷

Why is discussing the status of women perfectly fine, but talking about the status of men is off-limits?

It's ridiculous. We've exhausted the topic of feminism, yet those threads are always permitted. There are endless posts about women's issues and discrimination, yet the second someone tries to discuss discrimination against men, someone shuts it down instantly.

slybison8 said: First off, let me be clear: what you’re looking at on PDF World is just a transition phase, not the final setup.

Right now, this restructuring is mandatory because we’re launching a new sub-forum soon, where some of the current collective threads will be moved.

Second: I disagree with the idea that discussion has been "killed off." In fact, since this "transition" kicked off on PDF World last month, we've seen debates explode regarding various countries and parts of the World that weren't even being talked about before.

In my view, PDF World already offers much more diverse discussion opportunities and is far less "Euro-centric" than it used to be. It actually feels like there's an upward trend in active users too; I'm seeing a whole string of new handles in the discussions that I haven't run into before—which, honestly, I'm pretty happy about.

My goal is to hit the second phase of these reforms by February 1st, or at the very latest, by next weekend. That phase will include a public discussion regarding the proposed changes—formatted as another top-level thread. I’m hoping for, and expecting, your positive input during that public forum.

Thanks to Barack Obama for the interest and for staying active in the discussions here on PDF World. 🙂

PL

P.L. 🙂Look, the fact that you're trying to fix up this PDF is commendable, because let's face it—this PDF is half-dead, if it ever truly lived. My take? All these collective threads just make things easier to browse; they don't actually increase the number of topics, posts, or active users.
As for the end goal... I have no clue.
Remember the old ex-Yugoslavia forum? That PDF had 253,000 posts when it finally shut down. It was packed with all sorts of topics and debates—God, I remember how many threads there were just about Canada alone. 🙂 That forum was supposed to merge with the World section, and it did via these collective threads, but now user traffic is tiny. We aren't seeing the old-school debates anymore; we get maybe a few posts a day, and that's it.

My opinion is that PDF World needs to open up. Let people start specific, engaging threads. With everything happening in the World right now 🤷, we shouldn't be suffocating the site with these collective threads. 🙂

Anyway, let's see this new concept of yours. I'm curious to see how it turns out. Good luck.

urbanorca said:Look, if I can weigh in here, I really think it’s a mistake when certain major countries get lumped into a Collective category. Take the United Kingdom, for instance—the discussion just dies. Everything freezes up. If someone actually tries to start a meaningful thread, a few other topics pop up and suddenly everything is a mess. It’s impossible to follow the original point because there's zero cohesion.

I'm right there with you. Honestly, I think these Collective threads are going to kill any real debate. They make the whole discussion feel sterile, and eventually, people just stop caring and check out.🤷
Our refs are calling this bronze medal match.🙂
Why was the thread about militant feminism closed on "Politics"? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’ve already weighed in on this thread before, and honestly? I’m all for shutting it down. It was impossible to have a decent, normal conversation in there without everything turning into a total mess.
What can we even do now to make sure Sweden beats the Danes? 🙂
Man, that last-second goal... I can't even begin to tell you how much that one play just cost us. 😢
These Olympic qualifications are a total mess.🙄
Our chances of moving on are slim to none. Even if Poland pulls an upset against Germany, those Scandinavians will probably find a way to screw everything up. But hey, at least maybe Kire can break a record...
And we really need to beat Mexico 😍 😍 😍 on "home" turf, since there’ll definitely be more Mexicans in the stands than us anyway.☕
Way to go, guys! 🙏 🙏 🙏
Honestly, it’d be better if I just stopped watching altogether before I have a heart attack. These guys of ours don't even know how to play a normal game of football.😁
graniteotter6 said:But the second half is about to kick off.
Just to recap, we’re currently witnessing the halftime mark of the Mexican collapses and those massive Polish comebacks.😁
It's all pretty interesting stuff, though I suppose we're still waiting on the German-Dane matchup.

Looking at the stats, it seems like Denmark is making a huge comeback in this tournament; they just need the Swabians to stumble today. Honestly, there's still work to do, but that's for the Swabians to worry about, because I've already called the Dan vs Swede victory.
And hey, I'm quite the expert predictor, aren't I? 🙄 You can't possibly take this group seriously, especially if the Swedes don't end up losing today.😁

But honestly,
we've had enough bad luck to last a lifetime.🤷
Adam Collins4 said:Look, if you guys don't beat the Mexicans in this final round, then we’re actually doomed...

Boris is playing defense like his life depends on it...

The Mexican keeper is playing for the Metallurg, meanwhile half our national team roster is basically playing for the Metallurg too. Whether that's a good thing or a disaster, we'll find out soon enough.
Not bad!🙂Another stellar performance from our guys. The atmosphere was electric—reports say somewhere between 12,000 and 15,000 of our fans showed up in New York City.
Grace Barnes said:Mexico still has a fighting chance. They need to beat Mexico and Poland, then
hope that Mexico drops one to Sweden while Denmark loses to Germany.
Given how Mexico is playing right now, it isn't out of the question. The results they need to see fall into place aren't even that unrealistic. They're sitting at the bottom of the group, yet they've scored the most goals 😁. Plus, their home crowd support is incredible; anything can happen.
But honestly, they’ve been the biggest underdogs so far, and they're due for a win.
They weren't credited with a legitimate equalizer against Germany, and then Germany went ahead and beat
Sweden, which meant Mexico only walked away with 1 point instead of 3. Now, in their final match, they had an attack perfectly set up for a win against Denmark, only to concede a breakaway goal in the
final second. If luck had been on their side, they’d have 4 or 5 points right now and a real shot at the semifinals.

It looks incredibly grim after that tragic loss to Denmark.😢
Maybe Kiro will bounce back mentally, but I have my doubts about the younger players.
A gut-wrenching loss in the final second after fighting with everything they had... I really feel for them. The Swedes snatched a point from us, the Germans got a lucky win in the last minute, and then this mess with Denmark—just unbelievable.😕🙂And in the end, they celebrated like they'd beaten the world champions, not us.😠
There were plenty of us in Chicago, and I hope there's a huge crowd in Mexico City today because they deserve the support!
Seriously though, it makes no sense why the Mexican representative has so few fans,
to the point where the announcer actually begged our fans to stay in the arena.
How is it possible that in the capital of Mexico, the Mexican team gets more support while the Mexican team is fighting just to make the semifinals?

The official announcer was forced to ask Mexicans not to leave the arena after their match.

"Mexican brothers, please don't leave the hall, stay and cheer for the 'Eagles'!" echoed over the speakers, and some of the Mexicans actually took the plea and stayed.

Definitely an awkward scene for the Mexican fans.
darkmarlin16 said:Man, those Germans are something else 😲 🙏🙏🙏

They played like absolute garbage and still managed to walk away with 4 points 🙏🙏

They just got lucky because we basically handed them the win on a silver platter🙂
Luck eventually runs out ☕, and now they're going to lose every single game they play😍

We see all kinds of life stories playing out every day. Some are beautiful, some are happy. But unfortunately, Daniel Subanović’s story is anything but.

Daniel is a young guy, born in '83. He's been hit by one tragedy after another—losing his mother to a shell blast back in '91, his father to cancer, and his brother in a car accident. On top of all that, he lives with epidermolysis bullosa. It’s a brutal skin condition where even the slightest touch causes blisters that look like severe burns. His body is covered in them. His fingers have fused together, and because any physical effort tears his skin, he's basically trapped in place. He can only eat liquid or soft foods because anything else could tear his digestive tract. Now, he’s undergoing radiation because the cancer has spread to his lungs.

Thank God, I never want to see us in NATO. ☕

.

I’m not so sure NATO is the one at fault here. To me, Greece is more an example of a nation that spent years being totally coddled.🤷.The real issues were financial mismanagement, sweeping things under the rug, cooked books, and a population that got way too comfortable.🤷
But hey, I know I’m biased when it comes to Greece.😁
Noah Perez5 said:After what seemed like a relatively calm stretch in Greece regarding civil unrest, demonstrations, and strikes, it feels as though we might be looking at the onset of a new wave of instability.

Fresh Unrest Hits Athens

Violent protests have erupted once again in Athens, where demonstrators have reportedly been targeting police officers with stones and Molotov cocktails. It looks like about 36,000 people turned out for this particular demonstration to protest against the government's latest austerity measures, and I suspect more gatherings and protests are already being planned on the horizon.

It honestly seems as if Greece just can't seem to pull itself out of this downward spiral. I suppose it feels like things never quite improve; the public anger just keeps mounting, while patience seems to be running thinner by the day.

I mean, if they aren't acting rational, they clearly don't grasp how deep this crisis actually goes. And get this—they're actually demanding those old 13th and 14th month bonuses back. Absolute geniuses...🤷

crimsonorca10 said:What do you and Ethan Morales22 think, since neither of you seems to grasp the actual point?

Here is how this young lady defends her racist rambling: "I have plenty of friends of Albanian descent, and since I identify as a leftist, I don't hate anyone of any other nationality or faith, so those who know me realize these accusations are just the result of political games, which I refuse to participate in."

So, the logic is basically, "I am a leftist, therefore I cannot be a primitive racist or a chauvinist." I'm getting involved because I've noticed this exact same trend among young American leftists on this forum more than a few times.

Thanks for answering my question.😍

Alright, fine. You guys have turned this whole thing into a massive drama over some insignificant "politician's" comment🤷 when honestly, the President says even stupider things all the time.
Is the real issue that she was being offensive, or just because she’s a Democrat?😍

You aren't exactly winning any etiquette awards 🤷Excuse me? Too much?
Look, if you've got manners that actually work, they're never going to be a downside.
