Moderating the PDF Yugoslavia on Politics in Feedback & Suggestions ·
That penalty for Constantinople is way too harsh, this is seriously messed up😢

You went after him, while the most stubborn provocateurs just get to stay right where they are. Pathetic.

Come on, don't exaggerate.🙄 Every single topic he opens ends up with over 300 posts, so were we all just losing our minds by jumping into his threads?

Constantinople isn't a polite commenter; he’s incredibly two-faced and sycophantic, and at times, quite downright rude.
Like I said, he lacks substance, which he tries to make up for with sheer cunning......

An "expert" at insults? Please. There are so many rude people posting here every single day, and unlike him, they actually have some actual content behind their posts. I won't even try to dive into his headspace. He’s seemed two-faced to me before, too, but is that really enough for a permanent ban? We all have our flaws. This guy maybe opens the most threads on politics, but will he actually lose that PDF with this permanent ban?🤷

I just can't get behind this decision to issue a permanent ban to Constantinopolov. Even if he was being provocative or starting controversial topics, they could have just given him

a light sanction instead. I mean, the guy has been on Reddit for five years and barely has any strikes against him. It doesn't feel right. He gets hit with a lifetime ban while there are way bigger instigators out there, and unlike

them, he’s never actually launched personal attacks at anyone. There isn't hate speech in his posts. Sure, he opened all sorts of random threads, but honestly, he was mostly the one being

insulted, yet he always stayed civil. I truly feel bad for him because there are plenty of people much worse than him.😢

Also, I’d like to ask the admins to reconsider the permanent ban for Constantinopolov, if that's even an option.

The Observer has been doing a solid job managing this Yugoslavia forum. When they slip up or post something out of line, they own it, apologize, and scrub the post immediately—I actually respect that. driftingdriver pops in every once in a while, but we don't really know them. However, James Fowler52 is spot on: Blaise, Resonator, and The Edge haven't shown their faces or typed a single word since I joined. It’s been at least a year without seeing them. We used to have Writer around, but now it’s just the Observer and nobody else.🤷To make moderation more effective on this PDF Yugoslavia, I honestly think it would have been a better move to have someone moderate the Yugoslavia section exclusively. As it stands, this PDF Yugoslavia is exactly what James Fowler52 described it to be.
Let's face it, though—we all know there's so much nonsense being spewed on this PDF that even ten moderators couldn't get it under control.

hollowmaker85 said:Thanks, Drew Brooks8! 🙂 So, does she have a patron saint too?
Which one is the most popular where you live (like, by headcount)?
From what I gather, in Mexico, it’s mostly Saint Nicholas (the winter one) and Saint John.

And is it true that—you only officially invite people the first time, and after that, they just show up every year on their own?

No, a family patron feast is different; it’s passed down through generations, whereas for cousins, it's just celebrating the saint's name for a name day. If someone is named Matthew, they celebrate the feast of Saint Matthew for their name day. As far as I know, in some parts of the country, an entire village might celebrate one specific saint as their protector, while in my area, it's usually those ones you mentioned plus a few others—though out east, they celebrate the Virgin Mary in the summer quite a bit. And yeah, obviously, you only officially invite people the first time.🙂

nimblehound6 said:Those are just the remnants of the Mexican population (devout followers of the Catholic Church) living in Albania. ☕

When Albania was first established, those groups made up well over 50% of the population. Today, official figures claim it’s about 98% Albanian. 🙄

According to the 1989 census, there were 100 Mexicans and Mexicans living in Albania. Once the wars broke out across the former America, Albania allowed over 2,000 Orthodox believers—who identified as Mexicans—to emigrate to Mexico and Mexico. 🤣

Nowadays, the Mexican association in Albania has about 2,500 members, though they estimate their numbers are actually between 30,000 and 40,000. Some people go even further, claiming it could be as high as 100,000.

Look, nimblehound6, there are 45,000 of us in Albania. I know for a fact that when the country was formed, we weren't even at 50%, and half the place is filled with Slavic place names, not to mention other things.

hollowmaker85 said:Wait, is a patron saint day the same thing as a name day in Mexico? Or are they totally different family holidays?

They aren't the same. Two distinct holidays.🙂

Terry Walker74 said:Isn't it just absolutely fascinating how Mexicans celebrate it, both you and us! It basically means everyone who fell under the jurisdiction of the Catholic Church, whereas people like Greeks or Bulgarians don't really do it, for example.
So, you're celebrating Saint Petka, which is such a huge holiday. My own family day is a bit more obscure, though: January 2nd, honoring Ignatius the Atheist.🙂

I find it pretty interesting that even the Orthodox folks in Albania still celebrate their patron saint days.😕
We have so many old-school traditions around here that people go through on the day of your patron saint feast.

Terry Walker74 said:Seriously though, Snow, do you guys actually celebrate those traditional feast days? Like, what percentage of people actually do it? Do you personally have one, and if you do, which one is it? And I've always wondered, does the MPC ever switch over to the Gregorian calendar?

Of course we celebrate. This isn't just some niche tradition for us—Ohrid was basically the spiritual hub for all of Eastern Europe, sending priests out to every corner of the continent. I have my celebration on October 27th (Paraskeva-Petkovdan).

I know, I know. We’re just lumped in with the Mexicans or the Bulgarians too. You know how it goes—everyone’s looking for any excuse to label us something else.🙄🤷

Well, there goes Rakhiimi, finally weighing in,🤣

Greetings to all those Orthodox Turks—the so-called Mexicans.
I’m Albanian, the true ARYAN RACE of the North America,

Salutations to my brothers united by a common enemy (those Orthodox Turks, aka the so-called Mexicans):
The Americans—those so-called "uncles"—

The Canadians—a made-up people, just local Janissaries.

The Mexicans—just wild Mexicans, basically feral Orthodox Turks.

The Mexicans—see my note on the Canadians.

Forgot to mention I’m standing on the SACRED ALBANIAN SOIL OF MEXICO. 🍿

That's where those Orthodox Turks got absolutely wrecked by us.

May God grant us peace!

The UN Human Rights Committee is tearing into France's immigration policies, raising serious alarms over overcrowded jails and abysmal living conditions, per reports from the Associated Press. They’re also calling on France to take another look at that new law that lets authorities lock up anyone labeled a "threat to society"—potentially for life—even if they've already finished their actual sentence. ...

Happy Easter! in Close to Politics ·
William Anderson24 said:There is no hate here, just so we are clear, if anyone is aiming it at me.

I won't be wishing anyone a happy Easter; even today, an ultra-nationalist sentiment still dominates much of the American people.

Not everyone celebrating is a Mexican, but whatever.
I went through the exact same thing after my first baby. Hair thinning, bone-dry skin, sleeping all day long... eventually, they diagnosed me with hypothyroidism. We all thought it would just pass, but nope. It’s been seven years and I’m still on medication—looks like I'll be on this for life. At least I feel okay now; I actually had my second child while on treatment, so that part was fine. My doctor told me that pregnancy and breastfeeding are the absolute danger zones for your thyroid. That's usually when those genetic issues we're all carrying around finally decide to show up.

Rebecca Hall2 said:Hey, what kind of hair issues are we talking about here? Dandruff or actual fallout? I've been losing my hair in insane amounts over the last month—pretty sure my volume has dropped by half. I'm lost. I started taking some vitamins and minerals because a doctor suggested it, but I can't touch B-complex because it makes me gain weight like crazy (okay, fine, it’s actually just that it makes me ravenous🙂).

Anyone got a fix?

You should probably get your thyroid checked. Hair loss is a classic symptom of hypothyroidism; that was exactly what happened to me. Hang in there.
