Hi everyone, I'm not entirely sure if this is the right spot to ask, but is it true that this forum is shutting down in just a week?
It feels strange that there hasn't been an official announcement posted somewhere for all the members to see. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this rumor?

If it really is happening, don't you think it would be only fair to announce it properly so people aren't caught completely off guard?
Casey Bennett said:Profiles are approved manually. The admin probably hasn't had a chance to clear them yet. You can use that new profile to report the post from this thread, and then I'll send over the journal.

Thanks for the reply. How exactly should I report it? What button do I need to click?
Hi there, what should I do if it's been a few hours since I opened my account (I got the activation email and confirmed it), but I still haven't received word that my profile has been approved?

Does this mean my profile wasn't accepted, or am I just still waiting? I want to close this account and just stick to using the new one.
Hi everyone

I decided to join this thread because I’m weighing my birth control options. I recently started a relationship, and now I’m stuck on what to choose. Honestly, after reading about all the side effects of the pill, I’m feeling pretty conflicted about them. Aside from condoms, there doesn't seem to be much of an alternative for young women who definitely don't want kids for a few more years.

Up until now, my boyfriend and I have just been practicing withdrawal. I know it isn't the smartest move, but condoms just kill the spontaneity for me—I don't know how else to put it. He finds them a bit distracting too, but I’m sure I can talk him into using them. I just want both of us to enjoy ourselves without that constant mental load, and without him having to stay tense just to make sure he doesn't finish inside me. That part is really a dealbreaker for me.

So, right now, our only real option seems to be the pill, but from what I can see, most women experience some kind of negative side effect. Even when they switch from one brand to another, or try a second or third type, the issues persist.

And I’m not even talking about minor things like skin breakouts or a little extra cellulite; if you watch your diet, those are usually manageable unless it's an extreme case.

I mean the stuff that completely messes with your hormones. My biggest concern is libido. From everything I’ve read and heard from girls in my circle, most people see a massive drop in sex drive once they start the pill. How do you all handle that?

My take is that the pill probably doesn't affect the libido as much for women who naturally have a very high drive. Even if it dips a little, it should still be plenty. 😁

That’s just how it looks to me. It feels like there aren't many great options if you're in a long-term relationship and want to stay totally relaxed and unburdened.

It feels like I’m the only one seeing this. Or maybe I’m just overthinking it.

I know if just one person ignores your greeting, you can easily blame them. But when it happens with multiple people? That points to a bigger issue with how I'm being perceived.

I’m not trying to force an interaction here, but it feels incredibly awkward when several different people ignore me repeatedly. It’s even weirder because those same people will offer a quick hello to someone else—someone they aren't even close with. They aren't stopping to chat; it’s just a polite nod. And that third person has the exact same social standing as I do. We’re basically on the same level.

And it isn't like they have noise-canceling headphones on. They are walking right toward me, or I am walking right toward them, and... nothing. Just silence.

There have been times where I’ve said hello and received zero response. And trust me, I’m not so quiet that they wouldn't have heard me.🙄

Has anyone else dealt with being totally ignored by neighbors or people at the bus stop? Like, they won't even give you a nod, even if you’ve known them forever. I don't mean one specific falling out with a single person—I mean when it happens with multiple people at once. It keeps happening to me. I can't tell if people just find me awkward because I'm shy. I'm not exactly the type to go up to strangers and strike up a conversation. Maybe I actually come across as unapproachable..

For example, take the parents of a girl I grew up with in middle school. I see her mom on my way to work most mornings. One morning, she actually said hi and we chatted for a second since it had been a while. Then, the very next morning—and every morning since—total silence. I say hello, and she just ignores me. Yet, I see her greeting everyone else perfectly fine. So, it’s clearly not her personality.

I admit, they're just acquaintances and I shouldn't let it get to me, but it’s starting to really bother me. It makes me feel like there's something fundamentally wrong with me when everyone else gets a friendly "hello" and I don't.
It doesn't apply to everyone, but it definitely applies to quite a few people.

Has anyone else gone through this? How do you handle it? I just want to stop feeling like an idiot.

Carl Rivera43 said:Look, we’re talking about everything under the sun here... obviously there's a ton of chill topics to dive into. Right now, I'm aiming for about once a month... but hey, if you guys are feeling it, we can definitely pick up the pace. I'm totally open to suggestions! Just do me a favor and give me at least two days' notice if you want to schedule something or handle business stuff.

So, basically, two or three people meet up once a month on average? Got it. 😁 Not exactly seeing much action here.

It seems like these meetups have really died down across the whole site.

But alright, thanks for the answer. 👍

Lisa Mitchell said:I only made it to one since I don't live in New York City, but the thing that really stuck with me was how you can just talk about psychic issues without any of those weird social taboos, which is something you almost never get to experience in the real world. Obviously, that doesn't mean every single conversation revolves around that sort of thing, of course.

Is there a schedule for these meetups? Is it more of an internal thing for long-time members who already know each other?

And does everyone feel pressured to talk about their problems?
If I were to show up, I wouldn't want to dive into heavy topics; I'd much rather just chat about casual stuff.
Alright, how many days, weeks, or even months does it actually take for a profile to get activated so I can finally start posting messages and threads? I don't get why this takes so long. Does every single moderator really need to hold a meeting just to grant someone access?

Honestly, I’m about ready to ditch this annoying profile, open a brand new one, and just start over from scratch using only the new account. But I can't—I'm stuck having to post through this one.

What happens if someone doesn't have an old profile and is just opening one after years away? They have nothing to verify themselves with.

Who should I contact, and what steps should I take?
I'm not some troll; I just want my profile activated already.

Hey there, I'm in my late twenties and looking for someone around my age to chat with—nothing more than that. I’d prefer a woman, but I'm not strictly set on it.

I'm not searching for a best friend or a soulmate; I just want someone to exchange messages with occasionally, as long as we both feel like talking. That's all.🙂

Just a heads-up: I probably won't be able to reply every single day. There might even be stretches where I'm away for a few days, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can.🙂 If that doesn't work for you, please don't bother reaching out.

I’m looking for someone to talk to. My head is a bit of a mess right now and I have a lot on my mind. I can't really open up to the people in my immediate circle, so if anyone is willing to just listen without judgment, I'd really appreciate it.
I'm more than happy to return the favor if needed 🙂

Just a heads-up: I'm not really looking to meet up or hang out in person. Maybe down the road, but not right now.

🙂

I’m a woman in my mid-twenties, currently navigating a bit of a depression. I feel like I can't see a way out of my current situation right now. If anyone is willing to listen without judgment—someone who has the patience to hear me out—I am more than happy to offer the same in return.

Hi everyone! :-)

I don't hang out on this forum very often, nor do I spend much time on the Psychic Sofa, but this is such a great topic that I wanted to stop by. I'm looking for someone strictly for pen-palling—meaning no meeting up in person, at least for now, and probably not ever.

I'm feeling a bit stuck in a fog lately. I'm not really looking to dump my entire life story on anyone, but rather just chat about everyday things and random situations. If anyone else is feeling similar, maybe we can help distract each other from the heavy stuff weighing on our minds.

Talk soon 😁

Nathan Kim10 said:The whole point of psychotherapy is to vent and get everything out. There shouldn't be any shame in that. An antidepressant is supposed to lift you up, not drag you down. Just talk to your psychiatrist about it.😉

I’m honestly worried she might take it the wrong way. I don't want her to feel like I'm criticizing her professional judgment or saying she's doing a bad job. To be fair, I’ve always been skeptical about medication, but when things got really heavy, I was willing to try whatever would help. My mindset was that the pills should just be a temporary bridge—a little nudge to get me through the worst of it—while I do the actual work in therapy to fix my thought patterns and reactions. If I don't change how I process things, meds won't get me very far. So, what do you think? Should I be completely blunt with her and tell her that I'm genuinely struggling right now? If you think being that transparent is the move, I'll do it. Thanks so much!😉

I have a question: I’ve been on a new medication, Alvent—it's an antidepressant and anxiolytic combo—for about two months now. I’m also taking Xanax once a day along with it, as prescribed by my psychologist. For a while, I actually felt pretty good and had plenty of energy. But for the last two weeks, I’ve felt completely drained. It doesn't matter if I'm relaxing at home or busy working; the fatigue is constant, though I notice it a bit less when I'm occupied. Even my motivation to exercise has vanished—I used to hit my stationary bike every single day. I’ve brought this up with my psychologist several times, but she hasn't offered any real solutions or changes.😢I really don't want to turn into a "zombie." I'm worried these pills are doing that to me, even though I'm on the lowest possible doses just once a day. I've considered seeing a different doctor, but I'm not sure if that would actually solve anything. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? Even though I go to psychotherapy regularly, I feel awkward telling her that I feel like she's just "pushing pills" on me. I feel like I need more support from the therapy side rather than just more medication. Does anyone have any advice?😢
Got a boyfriend, now he's gone ghost. in Psychology & Therapy ·
I don't think this is okay at all. Sure, you'll naturally see less time for friends during the honeymoon phase, but people seem to forget that their partner might be feeling lonely. They genuinely want to spend that quality time with the person they're dating, yet they get shut out. It’s sad... I've been through this more times than I care to admit, and I've promised myself I'll never lose sight of my friends when I start a new relationship.😉

Is it safe to take brewer's yeast and Plibex (Vitamin B complex) at the same time as antidepressants and anxiolytics? I'm just wondering if they might interfere with my medication or cancel out the effect. Right now, I've started on a newer drug on the market—Venlafaxine..
Does anyone know (ladies, specifically,,) where I can pick up those bracelets that are connected to a ring, like a little chain? You know, the ones joined together as a single bracelet-ring piece, similar to what belly dancers wear..?😁
