Condemnation in Psychology ·
I wouldn’t say I’m one to judge; if anything, I struggle with the exact opposite issue. I seem to have this persistent, almost compulsive need to see things from the other side and find a way to justify their actions.

For instance, whenever I’m in a conversation and someone starts tearing into a third party or throwing out harsh criticisms, my immediate instinct isn't to join the fray. Instead, I find myself mentally scanning for any possible excuse or context that might make their behavior more understandable. 😲

Nathan Cox25 said:Prices are a bit higher in Chicago. Back home, a slice of cake used to run about $4.00—and I heard one lady even drove all the way to $10 just to get hers.

Honestly, it’s nonsense to say everything in the city is more expensive. It’s just those overpriced boutique bakeries inflating their margins. Everywhere else we checked in the metro area, the price for a single slice was a standard $4.00.
I’ve been avoiding this thread, honestly hoping I wouldn't have to come back here again.
My mother had surgery for breast cancer almost five years ago.
She went through chemotherapy, and up until now, her results have always looked good. Her markers were around 13.7.
Just last week, her breast ultrasound came back perfectly normal.
However, her most recent blood work from a few days ago showed her markers at 17.7.
Does anyone here know if a rise like this—while still technically within the "normal" range—is cause for alarm?
Is it actually possible for markers to fluctuate upward even when everything is fine?
She has an appointment with her Oncologist this Tuesday, but this waiting period is absolutely draining us all mentally.

I really have to share how much I absolutely loved sladek tajan!!

We decided to go with them specifically for the cake.
Honestly, it turned out even more stunning than I had ever imagined.
It was this incredible chocolate and dark and white chocolate parfait layered with raspberries.
Everyone at the party couldn't stop raving about those raspberry layers; they were a massive hit with every single guest.

The staff there are just wonderful—so warm and welcoming. When we stopped by to finalize the details, they were so generous they actually packed up a huge bag of free treats for us to take home!

If I ever decide to tie the knot again, they’d be my first choice, hands down.😍

but I was wondering, how far in advance do girls actually need to coordinate on a cake and dessert order? Is three months out considered too late?

Not at all. For us, we’re actually sitting just slightly past that three-month mark right now.

I’ve picked up several cakes and pastries from them myself; their customer service is top-tier. 👍

Don't they carry Tanya? I once grabbed some gold-foiled ones over at Absom that turned out to be quite impressive. Did you bother asking them about their packaging for deliveries?

I honestly haven't a clue, because we only ordered a single cake from them (which, if you ask me, is just one more point in their favor regarding service, considering we only took one item).

As for the cookies, my folks will be bringing some in from back home a day early. 😂
My grandmother, who is quite the baker herself, only trusts cookies made in that neck of the woods. 😂

Come to think of it, cookies are cookies. I don't imagine there would be any issue if my parents delivered them personally rather than having some big corporation or local bakery ship them out.
Or am I wrong?

I mean, the quality is proven, and that's what matters.

So, looks like it's straight to Offertiss!

Hey everyone, does anyone happen to know where I could pick up some clear, rectangular disposable trays for the tables? I'm specifically looking for trays rather than plates—I don't want the pastries looking cluttered or messy on individual plates; I really want them lined up in neat, organized rows. 😁

We went ahead and finalized the order for the cake at the Sweet Secret this past Saturday.

Monica was actually at the top of our list, but the employees and the manager were so incredibly indifferent and checked out that we ended up crossing her name off immediately.
Look, let’s be clear: their cakes are absolutely delicious. I have nothing against the quality of the baking. But when I try to get a straight answer through their messaging system, the experience is just maddening. I reached out to ask about a price hike they mentioned would take effect on March 1st due to the new state sales tax, asking specifically how much the increase would be. Her response? "I don't know, maybe a dollar, maybe two, I'm not sure." Honestly, give me a break. If you're running the show, how can you not have a clue about your own pricing? It's incredibly frustrating.
We’ve decided to move on from them. To be perfectly honest, I just can't stomach working with people who lack backbone or show zero interest in what they're doing.
And they still have the nerve to charge a delivery fee, even when you're practically living right next door to them. It’s a bit much, isn't it? 12 miles.

After that, we decided to head over to the Sweet Secret.
We showed up right after business hours, and since we hadn't called ahead, I decided to give the owner a quick ring just to let her know we were standing on her doorstep. She didn't hesitate for a second—she practically sprinted to open the door. Once we got settled, she and her daughter sat down right there with us. They didn't just give us the cold shoulder or try to rush us out the door; instead, they pulled out their catalogs, started taking notes, and really engaged in the conversation, offering suggestions and talking everything through with us.
They aren't going to charge us for delivery from the warehouse in Chicago to the distribution center in New York. In fact, they’ve offered to throw in a slightly larger cake at no extra cost just to make sure we're satisfied.
The cake features a stunning arrangement of fresh white roses and delicate mini roses—and just to be clear, those floral decorations are at the customer's own expense.
They even went through the trouble of packing up half a pound of assorted cookies for us to take home as a gift.

I prefer to call it "knowing how to sell yourself."
We decided to go big and do three distinct layers for this one. For the base, we went with a rich chocolate infused with Ferrero cream. The middle layer features dark chocolate paired with raspberries, and to top it all off, we finished with a decadent dark and white chocolate parfait—we even tucked a few whole raspberries inside the white chocolate just to get that perfect visual pop.

We couldn't be more thrilled!😍
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
I have a question that some of you might find a bit funny, but I’m being serious:
Is it actually possible for birth control pills to affect how easy it is to reach orgasm??
I’ve been taking Triqular and I am honestly thrilled with them, but—and this might just be a total coincidence on my part—I’ve noticed that reaching a climax has become significantly more difficult.

Does anyone here know more about the science behind this??
Doc... help... it hurts! in Health ·
I want to apologize in advance if this feels a bit off-topic, but I honestly wasn't sure where else to pose this question:

What is the actual legal requirement regarding when an employee needs to submit medical excuses to their employer?
To give you some context, my boss is being incredibly difficult about it—they’re insisting that even if we miss just a single day of work, we have to provide official doctor's notes immediately.
What does the law actually say about this? Am I truly required to be running back and forth to my physician just because I missed one day, or is there a bit more flexibility in the regulations than my employer is letting on?

Thanks,

Maybe God is punishing you for cheating (sorry, I just couldn't help myself—I'm kidding, obviously)😂😂

Look, don't panic; it sounds like you've just got a standard yeast infection.
Just head to your gynecologist and they'll get you sorted with some vaginal suppositories.

Even though my cycle has been totally regular for years and everything seems fine on paper, that underlying food anxiety hasn't quite vanished—I suppose once you deal with an eating disorder, there’s always a lingering shadow left behind. The fear of gaining weight still hits me hard (I'm about 5'6" and roughly 110 lbs).
I truly want to have children, but the idea that I have to "eat for two" absolutely terrifies me.
Is it actually a requirement for women to eat more during pregnancy?
I've read some things suggesting that most of the weight gain comes from blood volume, the baby itself, and the placenta, and that any extra weight is really just down to how much an individual woman's appetite fluctuates.
Is that just some old wives' tale?

The whole "eating for two" thing is definitely an old wives' tale.
You'll naturally end up eating more because your hormones will likely drive your appetite up, and you do need to make sure you're getting all those essential vitamins for the baby.
That said, you don't have to overindulge. You certainly don't *have* to go on a binge of potato chips and candy, but if you do, you're going to gain weight—which is completely normal. Whether you end up gaining 20 pounds or 50 is really up to you.
Hand cramping right before climax... in Women's Health ·
Rebecca Vaughn7 said:What you’re describing sounds like classic hypocalcemic tetany—essentially muscle spasms. If this only kicks in during periods of hyperventilation or deep breathing, it isn't usually an emergency. 🙂 Beyond the tingling sensations in your hands and feet, it’s very common to feel that "pins and needles" sensation around the mouth as well. You might also notice a specific type of hand cramp where the fingers curl inward at the knuckles while staying straight at the joints themselves. It can even affect the feet, causing them to point downward at the ankle while the toes curl.
When these symptoms flare up, taking a calcium effervescent tablet can often help. If it does, then we’ve likely identified the culprit. 🙂
If it only happens when you're breathing deeply, the best immediate remedy is to simply slow your breathing down or hold it for a moment to stabilize things. However, if these spasms start happening spontaneously without any trigger, you really ought to schedule an appointment with your doctor.

Could hypocalcemic tetany be what causes my hands to go numb for a few seconds whenever I raise them above my head, or when I prop my head up with my arm while lying on my side? Or am I just looking at poor circulation here?

Everything I mentioned happens specifically when I take deep breaths; it never seems to happen spontaneously.

Rebecca Vaughn7 said:Was she breathing really deeply? Did she feel lightheaded? Has this happened before during other types of physical or mental exertion? It sounds to me like it could be hypocalcemia—low blood calcium levels caused by hyperventilation—though there are plenty of other possibilities.
It might be a good idea for her to see a doctor and get some blood work done, specifically checking her electrolytes, including calcium and magnesium. She should tell her physician what actually happened, though if she feels awkward about it, she could simply mention it occurred during "physical exertion" to start. But if the doctor asks for specifics, she shouldn't feel any shame in telling the truth—believe me, it won't be funny to them. It’s their job. They have seen and heard much stranger things than this.
Take care,😉

This happens to me too, and not even in a sexual context. Once, I wasn't feeling unwell at all, just breathing deeply, when suddenly my fingers and facial muscles started cramping up. I had these intense tingles running through me, and it ended with me having to call 911.
Sometimes during sex, my facial muscles also cramp up slightly, and I get this sensation like my mouth is stuck in a whistling position.
I never thought it was a serious issue, but seeing this, I think I might need to schedule an appointment with my doctor. 🤷

(John Doe 162/39!? 🤔)

If she’s healthy—meaning her low weight isn't some byproduct of an underlying medical issue—then I don't see why she shouldn't be able to carry a baby.
The bigger concern for me, though, is how she’s going to sustain a pregnancy through to the end. Honestly, looking at her current weight, the numbers are pretty alarming!!

Anyone else struggle with a short fuse? in Health ·
The only real way forward, if you ask me, is to tackle your self-confidence head-on.
Looking at everything you’ve described—that knot in your stomach when you walk into a crowded room or a new social circle, that nagging fear that people might be laughing at you behind your back... those aren't isolated issues. They're just symptoms of a shaky foundation of self-esteem. Even the mood swings, like feeling on edge or uncharacteristically aggressive, are really just downstream effects of that underlying lack of confidence.
In my experience, you can't fix a problem by just treating the fallout. You have to go straight to the source.
How does a man decide to become an OB-GYN? in Women's Health ·
I honestly can’t wrap my head around the idea that anyone would choose OB-GYN as a specialty just to get a front-row seat to young, attractive women.
I mean, give me a break—who on earth actually finds looking at yeast infections and discharge thrilling? 🤷🤷
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
I’ve finally made the decision to start on hormonal contraceptives, so I’m trying to get my ducks in a row regarding the logistics. Does anyone know exactly which tests and screenings I should be asking for at the doctor's office, and more importantly, what kind of total damage am I looking at in terms of costs?
I haven't had a chance to scroll through every single reply yet, so please forgive me if this has already been covered.
Basically, I’ve been dealing with some persistent issues with my nose—my right nostril is almost constantly blocked. It looks like I’m eventually going to need surgery just to breathe properly. What I’m wondering is, if someone decided to go for a bit of an aesthetic touch-up at the same time, what kind of price tag are we looking at? My assumption is that insurance won't cover any of the cosmetic side of things, so does the cost follow the standard rate for rhinoplasty, maybe somewhere in the range of 7-10 $0.00??
