Nathan Hill13 said:Master! I bet people in the West just made that word up. I've never heard anyone over in Japan actually use it like that. In Japan, "sensei" basically means "someone who's lived through more than you." You could fail your way to the bottom, and suddenly you're a "master" 🤣—if you feel like calling yourself that.
Sure, certain things click—new perspectives, new ways of thinking... but honestly, that's just when you realize you're still a total amateur. Then you start training even harder just to prove you actually deserve that "belt" you're wearing.
Bottom line? You gotta grind and grind for twenty, maybe thirty years before you can even claim to have been a decent student, let alone a teacher.
When someone says "master" in the US, I think of a plumber, a carpenter, or a mason... not some "martial arts master." 😁

I need to hit a specific weight by a certain date. Right now I'm sitting at about 165 lbs, but I need to be down to 155 lbs.
I'm not joking around here. And I definitely don't want to lose my muscle mass. So, is there any way to drop—or rather, "sweat out"—those extra 10 pounds in just two weeks without feeling like total garbage or crashing?
The fact that the weight comes back later is actually a plus in my book. 🙂
Austin Phillips3 said:How much weight can you actually drop in a week or two without feeling like total garbage? I’m talking about losing it without that soul-crushing exhaustion or completely wrecking my blood work. Is there even a limit?
Losing weight isn't just about starving yourself. It’s about hitting the gym every single day, sweating your soul out, and actually putting in the work. You think you can just stop eating and call it a day? Please. Get real. 😬

...so let's get this show on the road;
-real talk, I hit the gym every other day for about two hours, sometimes I'll go a few days in a row, but it doesn't last long because my body eventually screams for a break, so basically it all boils down to every other day...
...that 30-minute window felt way too short; I could never find it worth my time to schedule my whole life around just 30 minutes...but hey, I'll leave that out there...
