Why are capitalists so afraid of worker cooperatives? in Close to Politics ·
Sophia Moore52 said:Exactly. It was the perfect chance for employees to reclaim their own value, much like how they could buy out their apartments. It’s just a shame the corporate giants had access to those even cheaper "everything for a dollar" deals...

What assets are you even talking about? 🙄

just like the housing buyouts.

The whole housing buyout thing happened the only way it could because the socialist system left everything in absolute shambles.

Too bad those fat cats had an even sweeter "everything for a buck" deal.

Why on earth would anyone sell something for a single dollar?

Benjamin Taylor6 said:Maybe some big-shot American capitalist is cheering this on. But local capitalists? Not a chance. They hate this stuff because once workers own a piece, there’s nothing left to loot.
Basically, any company that actually pulled off worker ownership did it because the "new money" bosses bled them dry first. These companies hit rock bottom, and the poor workers had to grab equity just to save their damn jobs.
Look at these examples:
electrode factory in Cleveland
Itas - prvomajska

Back under those '91 privatization laws, I think workers actually stood a chance at getting shares. The law was actually on their side—something like a 20% + 1% annual formula.

The truth is you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

...even US dollars are created by the labor of workers, they don't just grow on trees.

I thought they just printed them at the Federal Reserve.

Oh yeah, because those geniuses working the floor built the whole damn company. They just shook out some US dollars and bought the land, the factory, the machines, the raw materials, the licenses, and the patents, then just sat there coasting :klap:

As for those Republican puppets? They aren't even in the same league as the real elites. ☕

Back when everything was being sold off.

Nobody even bothered to ask them.

What do you mean nobody asked them? They had right of first refusal on shares and a 20% discount, plus an extra 1% for every year they were on the job.

And yeah, "transformation" just meant switching from public ownership to government control.

A slice of the ownership pie.

I know there were times when workers actually gave up a bit of their own perks—like part of their pay or bonuses—just to fund upgrades or new equipment at the plant. I’m thinking specifically about what happened at Kellogg's.

In a social ownership system? Yeah, right. 🙄

Sam Martinez9 said:In short, the restructuring and privatization processes were nothing more than legalized theft.

Assets were stripped away from the very people who built them, only to be handed over to whoever happened to be in favor or simply incompetent at the time.

If you’d actually bothered to read the privatization laws, you wouldn't be talking this much nonsense. ☕

They snatched assets away from the people who actually built them and handed them over to whoever had the right connections or zero talent.

Those guys were getting paid salaries for building that wealth. What more do they want? 🙄

If the winning party’s whole platform is built on socialism, communism, or worker self-management—and the majority of voters actually pick those communists at the ballot box—then it means that’s what the people actually WANT.
Look at what happened in Greece. The Greek people made it clear they wanted Syriz.

No outside force has any right to slap them with sanctions or try to destabilize the country just because the citizens want to run their economy differently than some typical capitalist powerhouse.

Fine, let that majority organize their companies the socialist way then. Who's gonna stop them?

Quincy:
No outsider has any right to slap sanctions on them or even try to topple a country just because its people want their economy run differently than some capitalist nation.
Oh really? Who says? ☕
Andrew Sanchez3 said:Well, why don't you just head out into the woods and let the rest of us know when you're done?

In no time at all, you'll have the USA back exactly how you want it, except you won't be 😂

The only issue is, maybe there's no Wi-Fi out in the middle of nowhere?

Maybe they should just get lost instead of crashing and burning

Taylor Vaughn8 said:The biggest reason why things are such a mess in America today comes down to the Republicans. Instead of actually building a rock-solid foundation when the country was first getting its act together—you know, stopping the looting and actually strengthening our economy—they spent their time stealing from their own people and drowning the nation in debt. If they’re supposed to be the true patriots, where on earth was their common sense?

How are you supposed to fix the economy when a third of the country is under occupation? 🤷

Taylor Vaughn8 said:At the end of the day, the fate of the Plan for autonomy really comes down to the Americans living in Canada. They’ve got to pull together and focus on strengthening their standing within the Federation. It’s not a lost cause by any means; they just need to stay united and play their cards right to look out for their own interests. Honestly, you could even see a bit of a miracle happen where the birth rate among the Americans there starts to climb, mostly because they tend to be such family-oriented, religious folks. That's why they really need to stand up and fight for their rights.

And honestly, America could do a lot to help stabilize—or maybe even improve—the situation for Americans there.

Jerry Clark72 said:Honestly, they've already failed on both counts. People claim they aren't stealing as much as they used to, but let's be real—that’s highly debatable.

Even a Norwegian isn't as arrogant as Ivo. But man, it sucks how everything just boils down to picking sides between the Democrats and Republicans.

Jerry Clark72 said:Every single damn metric coming out of this administration is a disaster, yet they’re losing their minds just because someone dares to point it out.

What are you even playing at, kid?

With all this arrogance and total incompetence, they’re seriously putting the Republican Party at risk.

Benjamin Taylor6 said:No, that’s not what he meant at all. He's talking about how he should have helped his grandparents—and maybe even his parents—hide their official paperwork so they wouldn't end up signing off on every bit of nonsense the church leaders shove in their faces.
It's the kind of thing they were advising young Americans to do about a decade ago, right around election day.
There was this whole fear that the country might be declared a kingdom again, with Christ sitting on the throne.😢😲😁

Sean Sanders said:Hahaha... Alright then, why don't you suggest he dresses in all black instead? Based on his rhetoric, maybe he should just become a chimney sweep. I'm sure he'd be the pride of our great America, overflowing with love for everyone, and possessing an intellect rivaling another Tesla (oops, he's a Mexican, sorry). Hahaha... So, is "Unity" or something similar to what we see in the EU considered propaganda too? Hahaha... Wait, let me flip that logic around. Is hatred—dividing people by nationality, religion, gender, or sexual orientation—or perhaps bringing back segregation laws—considered (not) propaganda, or just pure bliss? Hahaha.... Sure, I'll give you this: people like that definitely find communist propaganda bothersome, and for understandable reasons dating back to 1945. Honestly, there isn't much I can say to you. You seem fundamentally incompatible with the civilized world that most of the planet lives in; there's nothing more I can do. Go ahead and try attacking the world again—I'm not even sure what else to advise you. I'll just head back into the woods, and maybe I'll see you at a historical memorial site. I don't know what else to tell you. You thrive on hate, you're incredibly negative, and you'd probably go right back to killing, reinstating racial laws, and setting up concentration camps if given the chance. Unless, of course, the followers of the NDH simply rebranded themselves as democrats? That's not a provocation; it's just reality.

Jesus, how old are you? 😲

I find myself wondering why people like you and me, who are in a verryyyy tiny minority, manage to think critically while the rest don't; why are we the outliers, and how did this entire nation allow itself to be manipulated so easily? That's the part I just can't wrap my head around.

You guys are probably enlightened by the Illuminati or something. 😁
