I’m checking in because I’m dealing with the exact same thing.
I recognize this part of my personality, and frankly, I hate it; it just wrecks the harmony between me and my partner. Objectively speaking, I know my strengths and weaknesses, and this specific brand of jealousy is undeniably my biggest flaw.
I haven't quite figured out how to manage it yet.
The author seems to have more control over it than I do, mostly because I can't actually hide how I feel. Even when I try to sweep it under the rug, it just resurfaces with much more intensity. It’s honestly embarrassing.
For instance, I'll decide to go a few days without checking up on his best friend—a married woman with kids living halfway across the country whom he hasn't seen in years—only to cave and see that she liked one of his photos. It completely destroys me. I realize how irrational it all is, but the emotions just swallow me whole.
Chicago girl, late twenties, looking for some cool people my age!
I’ve been feeling a bit isolated and, honestly, pretty melancholic lately, though a stimulating conversation or decent company always manages to pull me out of it. I'm going through a strange phase where I feel like I have so much to offer and a genuine hunger for connection, but for a variety of reasons, my social circle has shrunk significantly. I'm hoping to meet someone outgoing and easygoing through this.

Since you’re getting all specific about the inheritance, I gotta ask: are you an only child? Is this all riding on your shoulders?
The answer to both is yes. However, not everything that glitters is gold, and the backstory here is actually quite dark and tragic. I highly doubt anyone would want to get involved with me if they knew the full story.
Three apartments in Washington, D.C. (two of them Downtown), a house in Washington, D.C., a house in Appalachia, two houses in California, and a house in Key West. There is also some farmland, forests, and vineyards.
Hey everyone.
We're all in the same boat here, each carrying our own baggage.

I'm looking to find a new circle of people—a community for mutual encouragement, support, kind words, and actual conversation.
I'd love to hear from anyone in the Washington, D.C. area, roughly my age (mid-20s to early 30s), who is well-intentioned and easygoing.
Since I fall victim to the seasonal flu every single year just like 99% of the population, I’d love to hear your best advice on how to actually protect myself before it hits
Which vitamins are actually worth taking for prevention? Does anyone rely on specific teas or other supplements?
Beyond the usual routine—bundling up, avoiding stuffy rooms where everyone is coughing and sneezing while germs fly everywhere, and making sure my scarf, hat, and gloves are ready to go soon😉... do you have any other pearls of wisdom?🙂
Honestly, if anyone actually understands what you’re going through, it’s me. It isn't even really about my skin; it's everything else, to put it mildly. I can't stand my hair—it's brittle, breaks constantly, and gets greasy way too fast. My face, my features, my entire body... I just don't see anything I like about myself. Not even my fingers, which feel blunt, or my bitten nails. Even my personality isn't exactly winning any awards.
Then there's the fact that some people actually seem to like me exactly as I am. My boyfriend won't stop telling me how beautiful I am, which honestly brings me to the verge of tears sometimes because when he talks about me like that, it feels like he’s describing a complete stranger. I simply don't recognize myself in his descriptions.
On the flip side, there's my mother, who never misses an opportunity to point out every single flaw, making me feel even worse about myself.
My friends tell me I'm pretty, too...
but I... I just find myself repulsive.
I get how you feel; I actually had a 😢 friend who dealt with the exact same thing. I told her more than once that she could always count on me to listen whenever she needed to talk, though I never pushed her to open up if she wasn't comfortable. In the end, we haven't spoken since last summer; she just ignores my messages, and her mother is always incredibly dismissive whenever I try to call her.
