I’m hoping this question doesn't come across as foolish, but do you all practice internal ejaculation while you're on birth control?
I'm planning to get back on the pill, and looking back to when I was with my ex, he never used to finish inside me. My new boyfriend has that desire, and I know it's something almost everyone does, but I’m still feeling a bit apprehensive. When you're using a condom, at least there's visual confirmation that nothing happened (in a best-case scenario 😬), but with him, there's no way to be certain. I am extremely disciplined with my medication and have never missed a dose, so theoretically, there shouldn't be any cause for concern; however, I can't shake the memory of what happened to my friend. Even though she was on the pill, her gynecologist confirmed she had actually ovulated 😱.
I started a thread on this a few years back—I believe it was around the time the Ritz situation unfolded—simply because I wanted to understand the collective mindset of people who engage in this kind of behavior. To me, it isn't even a matter of criminology; it’s pure psychology. My personal take is that there is absolutely nothing going on behind their eyes when they act out, which is arguably the most significant issue here. It is a total blackout. They operate in a state where the concept of prison doesn't exist, nor does the reality that they might actually kill someone. I find myself wondering if even harsher prison sentences would make a difference; while I certainly advocate for them to rot behind bars, I suspect that wouldn't necessarily prevent this next wave of senseless nonsense.
My period finally arrived today, 🙂 though I can't help but worry about what might happen if next month doesn't follow suit; there's just this lingering uncertainty regarding how these remaining hormonal shifts are going to settle.
Sophia Wells72 said:It really comes down to returning to a more balanced lifestyle. For some people, losing a few pounds, getting active through daily walks or light jogs for at least thirty minutes, and cutting out processed sugar is enough. Adding some herbal tea or focusing on a bit of detoxification while managing stress usually helps everything settle back into place. Personally, I managed to regulate my cycles quite well over the last few months, though this current one has stretched out longer than usual, and I am fully aware of why. I quit smoking, which led to increased appetite, and between all the holiday dinners and heavy sides, I haven't been particularly disciplined or active lately. Now, I need to get back into a healthy routine because I had finally managed to stabilize my PCOS; my ovaries were clear, and my overall health and cycle timing were excellent. I wish you the best of luck—if you have decided against hormonal birth control, you can certainly manage 👍 .
Ha, perhaps I wouldn't be so hesitant if I weren't seeing someone. As it stands, I am almost tempted to go back on the pill simply because I cannot stand using condoms 😢 thanks for the kind words, and I will check back in once things have settled down (if they ever do).
You have absolutely no idea how paranoid I am being right now. 🤣 During my exam, the doctor actually asked if there was any chance I was pregnant. I told him no, because I had stopped seeing my ex long before I quit my birth control, and since starting this new brand, we’ve only been together a couple of times without any issues, so I figured pregnancy was statistically impossible. But of course, once I left, the paranoia set in and now I can't stop overthinking everything. I mean, he would have seen something on the ultrasound, wouldn't he?
Regarding my period, it was never reliable to begin with. Right before I started birth control two years ago, my cycle skipped two months entirely, and I decided then that I was done with it—I couldn't deal with carrying pads everywhere at twenty years old just to avoid an embarrassing accident. So, I started the pill, met a guy, and everything worked out fine. In a way, I'd happily go back to them, but then again, if the whole point of the pill is to regulate your cycle, I don't see how they actually helped mine much. 😢 I can't imagine relying solely on condoms, but lately, I've been questioning how healthy these hormones really are, considering I took them for two years and now my symptoms are just as bad, if not worse.
Also, just as an aside. Since I stopped taking the pill a few months ago, my appetite has gone through the roof—I've put on quite a few pounds—and I'm noticing I'm getting much hairier. Thank God I haven't broken out with acne, though I have noticed some on my back.
I posted about this issue a month or two ago, and while some of you were able to soothe my nerves back then, I find myself right back in the same anxious headspace.
To give you the context, I was on birth control for two years. Once my previous relationship ended, I decided to stop taking them after consulting with my OB-GYN. My last period arrived on July 31st 😢 and I tried to be patient, knowing that things usually take a little time to regulate after coming off hormonal contraceptives, but my anxiety eventually got the better of me and I scheduled an appointment. My doctor prescribed Duphaston—two tablets a day for ten days—noting that my period should arrive within two or three days of finishing the course. I finished the tenth day the day before yesterday, so I am currently off the medication. He mentioned that if nothing happens, I have enough pills left for a second ten-day cycle, which I would start fourteen days after the last dose.
Logically, I know there is still time for my cycle to return, but I can't help feeling increasingly paranoid about the whole situation. During the exam, he performed an ultrasound and noted that my left ovary appears polycystic, though there are no cysts present; I just can't understand why my period hasn't started. 😢 To make matters more complicated, I started seeing someone new about a month ago, and now I am spiraling with the fear that my delayed cycle isn't just hormonal, but because I've become pregnant. We have been using protection and the condom didn't break, but my mind is racing.
I am profoundly directionally challenged, and I don’t believe there is any cure for it. I could visit the exact same location a million times with someone else, yet if they are the one navigating, I simply stop looking at where we are going. If I were tasked with finding that same spot on my own, I would be utterly lost. It is somewhat embarrassing to admit, but I have three aunts living relatively close to one another, and even though I visited them constantly growing up, I wouldn't be able to find their neighborhood alone. I used to find this trait amusing, right up until the moment I started driving. Now, I use my car exclusively for quick trips around the suburbs or when I am accompanied by someone else. While I am actually quite a capable driver, I simply lack the nerve to drive into the heart of the city because I fear getting lost and causing some sort of traffic chaos. Whenever I have to head somewhere unfamiliar, I feel a genuine sense of nausea in my stomach. It offers a small amount of comfort to see how many other people struggle with this same issue, but nonetheless, it remains a persistent and growing source of anxiety for me lately.
It isn't exactly a matter of concern, though I wasn't quite sure if I’d have to head over to the local pharmacy to pick up some Dabron or something similar if it didn't arrive soon. It isn't as if I'm sexually active, so there isn't really any reason to be worried about anything. 🙈
Brian Mitchell44 said:Hang tight, it’ll come. 🙂 It took me a good few months just to get my cycle back on track after I stopped. 🙂
On another note, I fully intend to stay on the pill moving forward, but since I don't have a partner at the moment, it felt unnecessary to keep it going, so I arranged a three-month break with my OBGYN. If it doesn't return within those three months, should I reach out to him then? 😁 Honestly, I absolutely despise the waiting game—having to worry about wearing light colors or constantly relying on pads. Plus, the bloating is unbearable. Ugh. 😠 Birth control really is a game changer.
I stopped taking my birth control pill over a month ago. However, my period hasn't shown up at all. It was supposed to arrive a few days ago according to my schedule. Should I just wait it out and see if it comes, or is the standard procedure to head straight to the gynecologist?
Maria Fisher46 said:Based on what you've shared, there is a possibility that this marks the onset of infectious mononucleosis. That early stage can often be characterized by findings similar to yours: the gradual emergence of atypical lymphocytes and, occasionally, an increased proportion of unsegmented neutrophilic granulocytes (though a value of 0.04 or 4% represents only a negligible elevation in unsegmented granulocytes). And, naturally, there is the sore throat, in which case one would expect other symptoms to follow.
However, atypical lymphocytes can also be present in various other conditions. For instance, it could be a different viral infection, or perhaps something else entirely. The presence of atypical lymphocytes isn't a specific diagnostic marker, so a definitive diagnosis cannot be made based on this finding alone. Without a physical examination, it is impossible to determine exactly what is happening. 🤷
Because of all this, you should check in with your primary care physician. 😉
Thanks... and since I'm actually on vacation right now, I'll have to find coverage. 🙄
I had some blood drawn yesterday to follow up on my iron levels, which I’d been supplementing for about three months. The iron looks fine now, but there's a new, somewhat strange finding on the report. My non-segmented granulocytes are elevated (0.04), and the morphology section mentions toxic granules and some atypical lymphocytes. Can anyone tell me what this actually implies? I did a bit of digging online, and apparently, this can pop up during an inflammatory response, and coincidentally, I woke up today with a sore throat. Could that be the cause? :hipohondar:
I’ve decided to go ahead with the pill after all, but I’ve run into another issue. About four hours after taking it, I ended up vomiting. The pamphlet for my birth control—Cilest—says if you vomit within twelve hours, you need to take another dose. What has your experience been with this? I haven't taken a second one yet. 🙄 It’s not that we’re having sex anyway, so pregnancy isn't really a concern for me. 😬
I find myself facing a dilemma that requires a resolution within the next fifteen minutes, 😁 primarily because I am due to begin a new pack of birth control pills. To provide some context, I have been on oral contraceptives for exactly two years. My first year was spent on Yasmin, followed by a second year on Cileste after finding that Yasmin didn't quite suit my system. A few months ago, following a breakup, I consulted my gynecologist about taking a break from hormonal regulation, since my primary reason for use has always been managing irregular cycles rather than contraception alone. He suggested a three-month hiatus. However, I chose to continue my regimen to avoid the hormonal fluctuations, emotional eating, and breakouts that tend to coincide with my exam periods. Now that finals are winding down, I am sitting here with one pack left and wondering if there is any practical purpose in taking this break. The pills work exceptionally well for me, and I intend to stay on them; furthermore, it seems highly probable that a new partner will enter the picture in the coming weeks or months. Would it make sense to take this break simply because I’ve hit the two-year mark, and then just rely on condoms once things get serious with someone new? 🤣
I hope you can see the logic behind my hesitation. Essentially, I am wary of potential side effects from stopping, and I know I will become incredibly paranoid if I engage in sexual activity without the security of the pill—especially considering I fully intend to resume the medication after a three-month gap anyway...
I’m personally casting my vote to have the original threads reinstated. To be clear, I am neither an adulteress nor a jilted partner—hopefully 🤔—nor am I a mistress, but I always enjoyed dropping by certain topics to read through the advice. Back when we were moved over to DiK on the US site, I actually posted in the "Just broke up with my boyfriend" thread. At the time, new people would join in to poke fun at us, or someone who had just gone through a breakup would show up looking for a bit of levity, only to find they couldn't locate the discussion on the US site anymore. It seems rather foolish to relegate such topics to OFF topic; I don't see how moving them there will stop the constant back-and-forth arguments from happening anyway. Or is that simply no longer a priority?
I found the whole experience quite uncomfortable, and frankly, I still feel a bit uneasy about it. It feels more natural to me to see a male gynecologist; since I’m dealing with male anatomy regardless, it seems somewhat illogical to insist on a female practitioner 🙂
I went through a nearly identical situation, though my guy was incredibly eager about me; however, he wouldn't commit to a relationship for similar reasons because he had just ended things with someone else, and we were facing a summer where we barely saw one another for two months. It bothered me deeply, yet I kept up the texting—we spoke dozens of times a day, so it wasn't just about physical meetings—and I held onto the hope that something might blossom after the summer, which eventually did. That said, even once summer concluded, he still wasn't ready for a commitment, at which point I simply told him thanks but no thanks, and he managed to get his act together quite quickly once he realized he actually missed me. Perhaps your situation requires that same approach. I am already quite settled in my current relationship. Regardless of how this plays out, you should stop reaching out to him and let his actions reveal whether he is truly interested or not. If he does reach out, wait until the following day to respond, perhaps mentioning you were out at a party or something; essentially, act as though his sudden presence doesn't affect your life one bit.
I find it impossible to understand men who string you along like that only to suddenly decide they aren't 🤷. And it isn't even as if he just wanted something casual. In fact, mine wouldn't even sleep with me because he wasn't sure of what he wanted, so at least I knew he wasn't using me, but rather that he was just indecisive. 🤷
I’m struggling to follow your logic here—did you take two tablets in a single day, or did you mistakenly grab the Friday pill today on Thursday? If it's the latter, just take the Thursday tablet tomorrow and consider the matter settled. It really doesn't change anything; those labels are purely for our own convenience to track whether we've missed a dose. Regarding what Daniel Lopez mentioned, I'm not entirely certain how the protocol works for three-phase packs if that's what you're using, but if they are standard pills, there shouldn't be an issue, as the hormone levels remain consistent across them.
This is a direct quote from the official CILEST® website.
Once you’ve gone through your first pack of CILEST®, take 7 days off—that's when your period happens. Once those 7 days are up, start your next pack, regardless of whether you're still bleeding or not. You're supposed to start the new pack on the exact same day of the week every single time.
So, like I already told you—you don't take anything for 7 full days, then on the eighth day, you start the next pack. Period. 🙂
Well, it seems everything remains exactly as it was. 🙂 You're welcome.
I posted this question on another thread, but there’s no harm in asking here as well. I have the instructions in front of me, yet I find myself quite confused.
So, when I was taking Yaz, this was my exact routine: I would start a new pack on Tuesday. I’d take my very last pill on Monday, and then begin the next cycle on Tuesday of the following week. Essentially, a seven-day break, starting the next pack on day eight. Does the same logic apply to Loestrin, since that is what I am using now? All these conflicting details are making things difficult for me.😢
