I'm specifically looking at the situation at home, for instance. Those people essentially make up your entire world. There's the option to just go off on your own, or perhaps finding some sort of middle ground through compromise.

Oh, come on, it's not like we're all gonna pack our bags and run away just because we don't like what's for dinner. I was talking about the heavy-duty, life-altering stuff. Like, say, a husband getting violent with his wife. Instead of just getting out of there, she sits around thinking she can somehow fix him 🙄 Or imagine having a boss at work who treats you like absolute property. Seriously, there isn't enough money in the world to buy back your peace of mind.

It’s heavy, knowing I’ll be managing this condition indefinitely, just constantly hoping to stay in remission for as long as possible. Looking back at the stretch between age 14 and 19, I went through six episodes—which works out to a little over one episode per year on average.
Lately, I feel so disconnected from myself. I struggle to trust people, I find it hard to believe what I see right in front of me, and I definitely don't trust what I hear. Everything just feels... surreal, like nothing is quite real.
To be honest, I’m scared of what life has in store.

Look, at the end of the day, the most important thing for anyone dealing with mental health issues—regardless of whatever label the doctors slap on you—is working on the actual quality of your life. If you don't have a job, go find one. If you're single, look for a partner. If people at home or at work are treating you like garbage, get away from them. Period.

I know, I know—it's way easier said than done, and let's face it, we're never going to get our lives perfectly sorted out, but if we just sit around on our butts waiting for things to magically fix themselves, they aren't going to.

Oh, please, recovery...
As long as we can actually get through our daily grind without falling apart, that's what matters

Anyway, I’m heading out to the coast for this long weekend 👋

Enjoy yourselves 👋

In a weird way, that’s actually a good thing.

Because look, once a patient decides all these psychiatrists are total morons or that they're actively out to get them, you've pretty much lost the battle for recovery.

Shock therapy is nothing more than a temporary band-aid for the symptoms

So, the divorce is finally settled 😍. And I still reign supreme. We reached an agreement, a mutual understanding if you will. Regardless of how it went down, I’m still the one in charge. Even though I tend to view the world through a somewhat detached, almost clinical lens—as if I’m perpetually observing from a distance—this actually hit me quite hard on an emotional level. ☕
But the dust has settled and everything is resolved. I still rule. 😍

That isn't being emotionless, man—that's just being battle-hardened. 😎
Richard Wilson4 said:And why wouldn't they set up headquarters in Chicago if this is all meant for America? Might as well let our people make some money.

Aren't you guys basically defending the whole Region just because of the money and the economy?

Look, I don't know why the HQ is there—honestly, that's totally beside the point for what we're actually talking about here.
Some people out there seriously seem to be rooting for a conflict that just never ends.
I mean, honestly? It’s just a massive clusterfuck—nothing brings people together quite like shared chaos.

But hey, like they say... "the cultural assimilation of Americans into the US Army Corps of Engineers." 🤦
Richard Wilson4 said:When I actually cast my vote for someone like him—or more specifically, his party

Look, that’s just not happening as long as the Republican Party is still pulling the strings.
The truth is, people only bother voting for the Democratic Party because they're desperate to kick the Republican Party out of office.

Honestly, you’d have to ban this whole criminal enterprise known as the Republican Party—they're basically the root of every single problem we deal with here in the States.☕

It honestly feels like the people closest to me often assume I'm the one to blame for what I'm going through.
Not too long ago, I was dealing with a situation where I felt like I was constantly communicating with another dimension, and my dad would absolutely lose his mind over it. He’d constantly grill me about why I was spacing out, and when I finally told him I was hearing voices, he just started snapping at me, telling me I needed to stop listening to them.
But look, if you had someone standing right next to your ear screaming at you for hours on end, you wouldn't exactly be "listening" either, right?
So, how am I supposed to not feel like it's my fault when everyone around me is constantly judging me for it?

It's always easy for them to talk when they haven't lived through it. 👎

I have this coworker who deals with schizophrenia, and people at work actually have the nerve to tell him he just needs to "toughen up" and quit his meds.
I'd love to see those geniuses try to navigate life if they were in our shoes for even a second. 🙂

Noah Garcia4 said:Sure, you were just lying there. 😉I’ve spent my fair share of time wandering those hospital corridors alongside the addicts, the manic types, the folks battling bipolar disorder, depression, or PTSD, so I definitely get how heavy that atmosphere feels. But my question is this: once you finally step out of those doors and head back into the real world, is that something you just have to carry with you for the rest of your life? 🍿
And you’ll always find yourself stuck being treated like a second-class citizen.
The most well-meaning advice you ever receive is usually just some guy who claims he knows a few people dealing with schizophrenia saying, "Oh, it’s actually not that bad." Honestly, I could follow that logic myself—I could just stop complaining and tell everyone how fantastic everything is, and after a while, they might eventually buy the act, but they’ll never truly forget that you’re fundamentally unhinged. It’s an interesting social dynamic; when someone presents with a physical ailment, people tend to lean in with genuine empathy, but schizophrenia seems to carry this repulsive quality that triggers the exact opposite reaction. Even for someone like you, who actually understands the reality of it, that stigma is hard to shake. ☕

The thing is, way too many people out there think we’re somehow responsible for our own illness. 🙄

Larry Lewis said:It reminds me of that awkward social dance—you tell someone you've been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and you see their expression shift instantly; they get that look of pity, offer some hollow wisdom about how "it must be hard living with today's medication," and within minutes, they've completely checked out of the conversation. It's exhausting.

But—and this is the cynical truth of it—if I had walked up to them and mentioned I owned four houses, two condos, a Harley, and a BMW, they would have suddenly become my absolute best friend overnight.

Finally—the guy actually figured it out. It only took him this long to realize that most people are just absolute idiots. 😍

I don't know, man—you used to be all over this thread constantly, and now you barely show up once a day 😬

But hey, honestly? Better to be slammed with work than sitting around with nothing to do, right? 👍

Alexander Mitchell5 said:Hi everyone! I’m new here... and honestly, I have a massive problem weighing on me. It’s so overwhelming that I’m terrified it might be something I can't fix. I’m still figuring my way around the forum, so please forgive me if this isn't quite the right place for a question like this... anyway, the main issue is that I am dealing with an intense, paralyzing fear. The thing is, I can't even pinpoint exactly what it is. I absolutely cannot be alone for even a single minute without feeling like I'm losing my mind. But it isn't a fear of burglars or people in general—it's something else entirely, though I can't put a finger on what it is either...

You don't have schizophrenia

Look, you aren't schizophrenic👍
You should probably check out the "anxiety" or "panic disorder" threads instead—they seem more like your speed.

The data suggests that immigrants face less stigma than almost any other demographic mentioned—ranking just above those living with mental health challenges. It’s a curious hierarchy when you consider that groups such as Black Americans, Hispanic communities, women, individuals with physical disabilities, or those living with HIV/AIDS all seem to carry a heavier social burden in the eyes of the respondents.

Man, so they actually take Americans seriously as a nation now? Give me a break. 😁

Most Americans couldn't even point to their own country on a map if their lives depended on it—and yet, they genuinely believe the US government is out there fighting for democracy all over the world. It’s almost funny, in a dark sort of way.

Noah Garcia4 said:we should probably embrace that crucial stage of recovery too🧐 😉☕

That isn't some kind of remission—it's just basic logic.

Look, being brutally honest is great if you're living in some perfect utopia, but let's face it—this world is anything but. ☕

Noah Garcia4 said:It’s fine, everything is holding steady for the moment 😬. But you know, I don't want to get too deep into the weeds here. It might be time to put a little yellow light on my tendency to be borderline manic with how open and blunt I am on this forum. I have to wonder just how much longer I can sustain that level of unfiltered honesty before I hit a wall. ☕

That’s what I’ve been telling you this whole time!

Finally figured out how to act properly, huh? ☕
