Maybe saying they 'screwed up' was a bit of an overstatement. Nathan Morris3 already mentioned there was a $15k cash limit, but honestly, we could have negotiated that up to $40k if things had gone differently. But that ship has sailed now, so whatever. Right now, I'm trying to get my old man up to speed on the whole situation. It’s making things a little messy on my end, but it’s definitely better to run this through his account rather than mine.😁 At any rate, I'll be out of this very soon.
Melissa Sanchez17 said:Honestly, looking at all these "cake" buyback schemes lately, I’ve started thinking we’re headed straight for a future where the only thing left will be a shady black market for gold and silver—whether you're trying to buy it or offload it.
The real headache is that using cash is increasingly being treated like a criminal offense. Sure, you could technically funnel everything through wire transfers and bank accounts, but the bastards in Washington want to micromanage every single cent you move.
Honestly, if we’re talking USD, that option to buy back three units works perfectly for me. It’s a solid deal. I’m just a five-minute walk from the Empire State Building🙂
I was actually looking at this https://www.exxonmobil.com/en/about-us/our-history but honestly, what you've got there looks pretty decent right now.
From what I can gather on their site, they offer cash payouts in USD up to $1,500. If they can do it in USD without needing a bank account in New York City and let me pay it out in installments, then I’d much rather go with them.
I’m going to try to hammer out a deal with them tomorrow.

It still exists. But they aren't doing walk-in sales anymore; everything goes through a bank transfer.
Edit: Word is you can still walk out with up to 15k in cash, but don't hold your breath—they don't exactly guarantee they'll have that much sitting in the vault when you show up.
Yeah, they offer lower Purchase price rates if you aren't an established client, and they'll pay out in cash up to $35 Between those rates and the conversion fees, I’d be losing half my paycheck. I’m going to have to run everything through a bank account—damn it all. The IRS is definitely going to find out I exist.
I’ve got a feeling that Massimo is playing favorites with their pricing, likely charging non-clients a premium compared to their regulars.
I just wrapped up an exchange with SMH, and let me tell you, they just moved the goalposts on me. They're insisting everything goes through the Bank now, which is a total non-starter for my setup.
I get where you're coming from, and honestly, I’m on board with most of what you're saying. But if you ask me, you're being way too optimistic about the upside. If everything actually hits the fan and we see a total collapse, I don't think an ounce of gold is going to buy you much more than a beat-up used Honda Civic.
Got some news here—honestly, I wasn't sure if I should drop it anywhere besides this gold thread. If I posted this on Acceleration or Exodus, people would probably accuse me of heresy.😁
I just don't get it. How can a national debt be three times larger than the entire world's GDP? It’s like someone claiming they slept with three times more women than there are actually living on Earth.😛
Frank Richardson said:I’m quite a bit younger, so I wasn’t even around back then, but those early 80s albums are my absolute favorites. For me, Udo Dirkschneider and Accept from that era are just 🙏
Best wishes to you and the kids. 😁
Accept is probably the only metal band that actually meant something to me that I didn't personally see live. I still remember when my copy of Restless and Wild arrived from Atlantic Records in Scotland (it even had some US dollars in the sleeve 😁 ). I drop the needle on the record, hear that initial crackle, and then suddenly there's all that heavy German folk influence kicking in. You really have to wonder about the audio quality of that era, especially when Udo Dirkschneider lets out one of those signature high-pitched screams. 🙏
Thanks for the shout-out to the kids. They loved the cooperative, and I'm sure they'll dig 👍K3P too.
Anthony Evans78 said:Actually, it matters quite a bit. The Germans sent their gold to the USA for safekeeping. Period. When that gold is returned, it should be the exact same bullion that was originally sent. Since it isn't, it suggests the Americans dipped into the reserves and had to plunder gold from places like Iraq, Libya, or Ukraine just to give the Germans "their" gold back. Doesn't that alone destroy any trust you have in someone tasked with guarding your national wealth?
I just don't get the logic behind that. It’s like asking a leopard to babysit a gazelle. They even sent stuff to New York City for storage back then. I highly doubt anyone was actually asking the Germans for permission during that era.
Frank Richardson said:Personally, my only real gripe is that AC/DC doesn't have Alice Cooper fronting them anymore, but it is what it is. It’s going to be a massive show, though, and I’m betting Madison Square Garden will be absolutely packed.
Alice Cooper isn't singing anymore? 😢 Then count me out. Even if they were one of my absolute favorite bands back in the eighties.
BTW... I'm taking the kids (ages 8, 10, and 12) on a Harley-Davidson trip 😈
Look, there are plenty of people on this thread who know way more about silver than I ever will, so they’re better suited to answer your questions. Personally, I’ve never actually bought any silver, though I’ll probably head over to Estonia in the next couple of months to look into some things and get a feel for the market.
As far as I'm concerned, if I do dive in, it's physical bullion or nothing.
