Winter training plan - any tips? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
redbison8 said:So, regarding running, I'm wondering what the critical temperature threshold is for lung health—or whatever else might cause unwanted complications...

There’s no such thing as "too cold"—there’s only inadequate gear.😉
Last winter, I was out running in 10°F weather without a single issue.
Honestly, my biggest headache isn't the temperature; it's finding a decent place to actually run—unplowed, icy roads and frozen sidewalks are a much bigger mess than the cold itself.
Thermal leggings, a thermal base layer, a buff, gloves, and a hat... and you're good to go.👍
Cycling and smoking in Cycling ·
Gerald Moore5 said:Can you ride bikes and smoke at the same time? It’s a bit of a question, isn't it?

I haven't the slightest clue. I don't smoke, and I don't drive.🤷

rapidscout26 said:There’s nothing quite like those former smokers—they're built different.

David White5 said:The ones who get the most worked up are those bitter types—you know the ones—who can't stand seeing former smokers move on.

The ones who think they’re the biggest shots in the room—those are always my favorite.😬

All jokes aside—smoking is an undeniable handicap when it comes to athletics. Spare me the anecdotes about seeing some guy who smokes like a chimney still sprinting uphill like a pro. If he wasn't smoking, he’d be even faster. Period.
It’s the same story with Prosinecki—as someone pointed out earlier. The guy was a pure genius, but his fitness was always a mess, mostly because he couldn't quit smoking. If he hadn't been a smoker, he would have been right up there competing for the title of best player in the world.
Why can't I see certain users' posts or threads? in Forum Help! ·
Jeremy Grant79 said:Has anyone actually looked at the thread title? It literally asks why I can't... 🙂

It’s Friday night—it's been a long week—only to find out I apparently lack the basic ability to track people on this forum. 😁

Exactly. Honestly, if you're going to lead with "I can't," you should just be banned from the site permanently.☕

I’m expecting something like 2-0.
Frosinone is playing absolute garbage right now.

Have you actually watched any of their games lately?
They were arguably the better side against Bologna—just unlucky to lose. Against Roma, they conceded in the 93rd minute despite being equal competitors with several clear chances.
The play is solid enough—they just can't find the back of the net. Given all those absences at Juventus, I wouldn't touch that bet. Definitely no value there.

I’m a total novice when it comes to this stuff, but I caught an episode of Dr. Oz today where they were diving into this exact topic.😁

Apparently, body fat basically absorbs your testosterone—so if you're struggling with being overweight, that should be your first priority.

Also, you should cut back on bread, pastries, anything doughy (puff pastry, pizza, pies...) and sweets.
Not entirely sure why, though. I wasn't paying close enough attention to catch the reasoning.😁

I just thought of that old joke where a guy is selling college degrees for pocket change. Someone asks him, "Can I get one for 800 bucks?"
— Sure... but I’ll have to give you a little quiz first.😬

Teachers—can I join in too?🤔 I think I've finally figured this one out.😁
Never thought I’d be the one asking this...😁

Where in the city can I find a good selection of men's bags?🤔

Just picked up a new (larger) wallet along with a new phone—now they barely fit in my pocket and it's looking incredibly bulky.
Basically, I need a small bag for the wallet, the phone, and maybe a few other bits—something that hangs over the shoulder (I'm really not a fan of those waist packs). Where can I pick something like that up?🤔

I’m new to this "I have no friends" thread, and I also saw some talk about group meetups for the forum members. Since I missed out on the previous ones, are there any plans for more hangouts down the road? 🕺

There’s a USA meetup this Sunday, heading out to Mount Rainier. You're more than welcome to join—along with anyone else who's interested.😉
Terry Collins9 said:If you actually want a quality thermos that holds heat and stays sealed—avoiding that mess in your bag—you should probably head to an outdoor retailer like REI or Bass Pro Shops. The price tag might give you a bit of a shock, but hey, isn't it worth it to not have a soaked laptop?

If you're looking for the budget route, Walmart usually has them for about $10. No clue how the quality holds up, though.🕺

fadedhawk38 said:Does anyone know a custom t-shirt shop in the city—something that does small runs, maybe just one or two pieces at a time, rather than mass production? I’m looking for decent print quality without getting gouged on the price.
(Ideally, nothing on the East Side, since I’m stuck out in the West End, haha)🙂

I recently had a shirt printed at Best Buy over in the suburbs. Since you're on the west side of town, it shouldn't be a long drive for you.
Overall, I'm happy with it—price was fair and the print looks great. A shirt costs about $6.75 (they let you bring your own, too), and single-sided printing is around $30 or $13 (not 100% sure on the exact change), which is a steal since I couldn't find anything under $33 anywhere else in the city.

lonefalcon41 said:We could hit up the Museum of Broken Relationships and then grab some beers after if you guys are down. 😒

Shoot me a DM. 🎉

Since some people here are chronically sleep-deprived, I’m voting for Saturday. 😁

And hey, Carl Rivera43, don't forget to bring that pipe for the museum. 🤣

My girlfriend and I checked it out recently—honestly, we weren't exactly blown away. The whole "museum" is basically just a few hallways with framed stories pinned to the walls. We were expecting something a bit more innovative and substantial.

Time to throw my two cents into the ring.😁

Everton vs. Q.P. Rangers | 1 @1.45 (1.55 in the parlay), f+2 @2.15 @SS(3-1)

Everton’s hit a bit of a slump—only one point from their last three matches. Honestly? Looking at who they played, it’s hardly a shocker. They kept things tight against Tottenham and Man City, losing by the narrowest margins without being totally outclassed. Their only real stumble was a home draw against Hull, but let’s be real: Hull basically scored on their only shot in the box. I suspect this dip in form is just the fatigue setting in from playing mid-week Europa League fixtures—that Thursday-Sunday grind is brutal. In fact, they rested almost the entire starting lineup during their last European match specifically to ensure they come into this game against Q.P. Rangers fresh and hungry.

As for Q.P. Rangers, they are easily the worst traveling side in the league. Seven away games, seven losses—and they’ve failed to cover the spread four times. To make matters worse, their top scorer, Austin, is out on suspension and won't be seeing any action. I simply don't see how they hold their own against a much more talented Everton squad.

Anyone betting on the Egyptian league?😁

The Zamalek vs Wad Degla cup semifinal is happening today. Based on every single statistical metric out there, Zamalek should be the absolute lock here. So why is the payout sitting at 1.65 in SS?🤔

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich 1 (2.60) DraftKings (1:0)

The last three meetings in Madrid were all wins for Real—and looking at their home record this year, they’ve taken 13 out of their last 14 matches across all competitions (their only slip-up being against FC Barcelona). Real is the favorite against anyone stepping onto the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu; I expect them to deliver tonight.
Michelle Murphy68 said:The whole situation feels a bit surreal—I finally started seeing this guy yesterday. He’s actually a friend of my brother, so we’ve crossed paths before, but yesterday was the first time we officially made things "exclusive."

I’m struggling to follow the logic here... you’ve known him for a while, you finally hooked up (or whatever "started seeing someone" implies in this context)🤔 and suddenly you're an official couple?😳

If things move at this kind of breakneck speed for you, you might as well just hand him a spare set of house keys right now.👍
