They’ve been playing like this throughout the entire tour this year. Honestly, they haven't sounded this good in a long time.

Interesting take. So he should have just kicked the bucket and left his wife and three kids behind? Besides, the booze trashed his health and wrecked his marriage until his wife finally kicked him out.
Then he decided to get sober.

To me, it takes real guts to do that. If he’d kept drinking, he would’ve just been a coward.
A lot of these self-proclaimed "hardcore metalheads" call him soft now, but he’s more of a man than any of them will ever be. Actually, better to say he's more of a human being.

Man, people don't get it. If the last album you actually liked was And Justice for All, that was nearly two decades ago. It's about time you moved on and stopped whining. That version of Metallica hasn't existed for fifteen years, yet somehow fans still act like spoiled brats, demanding the band play fast, stay aggressive, grow their hair long, and get wasted—just so they have some "real metal" band to brag about.

The reality is these guys are in their 40s now. They have families and kids. They've realized that if they want to raise their children and actually see them grow up, they have to change how they live.
Of course that changes the music.

You expect them to be rebels? Give me a break. Hetfield takes his daughter to ballet classes every week. He plays with his kids and spends most of his time sober with his family. Yet, pissed-off metal fans think that's "bad"—that he needs to be a rebel, drink, swear on stage, and ruin his life just to satisfy them.

I guess some people think it's "cool" to stumble home high, bloated, and maybe even lay a hand on their wife or kid. That's what they're looking for.🙄

Nothing beats 😳

Man, I used to love this band. Honestly, they’re still my favorites and the ones I listen to most, but that last album was a real letdown.

The issue isn't just one bad album, though. The overall musicianship has slipped, and what bugs me most is the vocals—James Hetfield’s voice has definitely "declined," if you know what I mean.

That edge is gone. Looking back at the 1987–1993 era, the beast sounded like they were spitting venom.

But they did this small tour this year, sort of an escape from the studio, and they called it that. It totally caught me off guard.
For me, 2003–2005 was the absolute rock bottom for Metallica. As someone who's been listening for over 18 years, I'm telling you, it was the pathetic, lowest point I've ever seen. Hard to believe a band could fall that far.

However, like I said, those shows this year were phenomenal. The playing, the stage presence—it was all great. They haven't sounded this good in a long time. And they nailed it show after show. Just solid.

It gives me some hope that the next album might actually be good, and it makes me want to catch them live again. A Metallica show is a spectacle. You have to experience it; it’s not just a concert, it's something on a scale I can't even put into words. 😁 😳

Oh yeah, if anyone's interested, they played two new tracks on that tour that should be on the new record. Here are the links:

I completely agree with the idea that you find something new in their songs every time you listen. When I switch to other bands, some get old fast, while others I'll revisit. But when I put on Metallica, nobody else even comes close.😈 🙏
Dealing with drug addiction in Health ·
Once an addict, always an addict. There's no such thing as being "cured." It’s really just a matter of when life hits you hard enough to pull that trigger again—one bad break and they're right back in the cycle.

I mean, look at us smokers. Take me, for example; I went four years without a cigarette, then boom, back at it. Or look at alcoholics. Someone can go years sober and then suddenly, something snaps and they're drinking again. Life just happens...
Now imagine dealing with heavy stuff like heroin. Give me a break. "Getting clean" is a myth.🙄

It's just a waiting game, which is pretty sad if you think about it....

The only real solution is to never start in the first place. That's why prevention matters. We have to reach kids and make sure they never even touch that garbage....
Lisa Moore7 said:Man, I just can't handle the smoke anymore. I smoked for about a year, maybe two packs a day, then caught some nasty virus with a sore throat and just quit right there. I wanted to light up a thousand times, but every time I thought about it, I knew if I actually took a drag, it would hit me so hard I'd throw up. So I never touched a cigarette again. Even now, I'll occasionally crave one with a beer, but I know I’d bail after the first puff just to avoid ruining everything.

Look at my situation. I didn't smoke for four years, then I finally lit up. It felt incredible—hit me like a freight train—and I inhaled like I'd never stopped.
That's the part that sucks the most. If I had just gotten sick or felt nauseous from it, maybe it would have been easier.

Once I slipped up like that... there was no going back.

On the flip side, I started smoking in 5th grade, and by 8th grade, I was already through a pack a day. No point hiding it from the adults; they already knew.

When I eventually quit, I was doing two packs a day, sometimes three when I went out with friends.

Now I stay under a pack, but lately, I feel like I'm sliding back up. At first, I was doing "less than half a pack." 🙄
Round 2 in Movies ·
The movie was terrible. At least for me.
I thought the first one was great—actually engaging and fun—but this? It was so tedious and drawn out I had to fight the urge to just fall asleep.

This lady really added something unique to the whole genre🙏 🙏 of kung fu movies, and she even changed my outlook on life a bit back then...

I watched a few of her films a long time ago.

The one that sticks in my mind most is "Police Academy 2," which was dubbed over here back in the day.😁
She stars in it alongside another Chinese actress, and man, it was a great movie. I had it on VHS and watched it a hundred times as a kid just for the fight scenes. Especially the ending—seeing what those women could do and how they fought.🙏
They play two cops who run into some mafia trouble, obviously... the movie wraps up with them storming the main villain's villa, taking out a mountain of nameless goons by themselves before finally facing off against the big bad.
My memory is a little fuzzy............ I think I still have that tape tucked away in a closet somewhere.🤔

I'll try to dig it out tomorrow and give it a rewatch. I'm curious to see how it holds up after all these years... if I can find it.

I'm with you. Those movies—Planet Earth and Riddick's Chronicles—are top tier.👍

Arnold Schwarzenegger🙏

He’d take down Sly in a heartbeat, though looking at today's so-called action "heroes," I have my doubts 🙄 .
I was watching some Bournov movie the other day and honestly, who are they kidding? Matt Damon could probably get handled with one hand tied behind his back in a real fight.
Back in the day, Arnie could have ripped an arm right out of your socket.
Same goes for Sly and Segal—those were the days for action movies, not this modern stuff.
But out of all of them, Arnold Schwarzenegger is still king.

As for extreme bodybuilding, there's a limit. You shouldn't go overboard.

Carpe Diem Baby, One, The Unnamed Feeling, Bleeding Me, No Leaf Clover, Minus Human... there's more, but those are the ones hitting hardest right now.

This is what a guy can look like:

And here’s a shot of Arnia 😁

Can a woman even look like that?🙄

As for the first post, I’m also sick of the gym posers.
It drives me crazy seeing guys who just wander
around the floor waving their arms around like they're actually working out.

That screening this past Saturday was a total disaster—likely some outdated copy from before we actually knew what digital tech could do.

And here I was thinking that’s just how it was supposed to look. 😬

Good grief, people. This movie was filmed back in 1956. What did you expect?
Personally, I thought the plot and the look were totally fine. I’m strictly against messing around with new technology on classics like this—especially when it comes to "improving" the picture quality or whatever other nonsense they try to pull.

I actually love watching old sci-fi movies like this. The special effects are half the fun for me.😉

P.S. Imagine Star Trek with Nielsen instead of Shatner. Thoughts? 🙂

I almost cracked a smile a few times seeing Nielsen.👍

As for Star Trek, no way. Shatner is the man.😁

Push-up routine/tips? in Health ·
I do my pushups at a moderate pace—slow reps, if you want to call them that. I don't bother with them at the gym; I just save them for when I'm working out at home.
I’m not trying to crush myself with some intense, high-speed set just to pass out. Instead, I do three sets of 40, moving slowly to really feel the burn in the muscles afterward. I used to do fast reps, but I eventually realized that going slow is actually more effective. It's harder for me that way, and I get a much better mind-muscle connection.
Of course, I pair all this in with my other exercises.
