For those of you who find yourselves staring at a blank white screen... there is actually a very handy little button right in your browser called "back," which should take you straight back to the reply editor where your message is still sitting. Alternatively, you could just hit reply again or simply copy and paste everything 😬

That would imply that all the other "standard" retailers will be stuck selling them for around $2,000 to $2,200 once they actually hit the shelves. 😬
It’s actually kind of funny seeing Best Buy occasionally undercut everyone else like this... even if it's just a promotional price where you dodge some sales tax, bringing it down to roughly $1,800, it isn't really a bad deal at all. 👏
S1hr, you should go ahead and sign up for the PCE program; just drop a question in the UZI discussion thread or shoot them an email directly, and if you decide to register for the PCE, you can actually snag an extra 3% discount on your order.
I’ve actually decided I’m just going to pick up a new computer at Best Buy, which frees up my budget to finally invest in a high-quality headset instead. It honestly feels a bit redundant to have a dedicated hi-fi setup sitting right next to my PC when I'd only be using it because of someone else's stubborn insistence on listening to music via USB. 😁
darkowl72 said:Try plugging the speakers into the front jacks and your headphones into the rear ones, and you might see things clear up... I honestly don't think the motherboard should be the culprit here...
Edit:
It seems like certain batches just have subpar internal components that start failing prematurely. Unfortunately, there is a massive chance that those specific defective units end up being distributed in markets like ours 😬... You should reach out to Genius; just send them a few Links to similar reviews and mention that this is already your second set. Ask if they can authorize a local exchange through Best Buy so you aren't stuck shipping these off to some warehouse halfway across the country...
Oh wow, I had no idea; I feel a bit silly for not realizing that sooner. I was actually starting to feel pretty embarrassed about having to drag these speakers back to Best Buy for a second time with the exact same issue 😁😁😁😁
Well, I am still under warranty, so my plan is to draft an email including links to these complaints and demand another replacement. It is incredibly frustrating to realize I'm getting a second pair of speakers only to face the same headache within a few months... Honestly, it makes me want to just give up on this model entirely and see if there are better options in this price range.
https://www.amazon.com/speakers-100...1&pageNumber=1 I am currently weighing whether I should just toss an extra $200 $133 toward a different brand or simply ask for a full refund. That 2.1 setup was actually quite convenient because I could tuck the subwoofer on the floor and keep the two speakers on my desk for a perfect little setup 😲🙂😁
I recently swapped out my speakers for a fresh set, but after just two months, I’m running into the exact same headache. I was right in the middle of a session of Diablo 3 yesterday when the audio just completely cut out. Interestingly, if I nudge the volume up or down using the scroll wheel on my Logitech keyboard, the sound suddenly kicks back in. I’m starting to suspect there might be an issue with my motherboard, especially since the headphone jack on the front of my PC case works perfectly without any interruptions at all.
Does anyone know of a way I can troubleshoot this effectively, besides buying yet another pair of speakers just to test them for a few days? 😁
Michael Jackson10 said:Just one little tip from my experience: whenever you aren't actively using it, try to clear out any loose paper and close the tray or lid. These specific models that lack a proper enclosed tray or even a simple cover have this one annoying quirk where dust and debris tend to settle inside over time. Once you power it up, that buildup gets sucked right into the drum, leaving you stuck with those annoying little spots on every page for the entire life of the toner cartridge—I learned this the hard way working in an incredibly dusty environment with heavy daily usage. I once had a unit pull through a whole stack of paper during a manual duplex print job that was already jammed and full of staples, so now it just sits in the garage serving the kids for their occasional school projects.
I know exactly what you mean. I used to work in a print shop for years before it eventually became part of my family's business, so I've seen just about every possible issue you could run into with hardware like this. 😬
I'll most likely end up going with that HP in the end; I'll just tuck it away in a corner of the room so that when I need to print something, it's just a quick click and done, because I really don't have the patience for wrestling with cables every single time. 🕺
Drew Castillo5 said:My experience. I’ve been using my Xerox 3140 for a few years now, and it’s been a reliable little workhorse for me. So far, I’ve put about 12,000 pages through it, and I'm currently looking into getting some more toner. $57I’ve personally managed to get about 2,500 pages out of it so far. It just sits right there on the floor, constantly exposed to all the sawdust in my workshop, yet it keeps running flawlessly without a single hiccup.
It’s a bit of a shame, really, because it lacks Wi-Fi connectivity. 😁
hollowmarlin27 said:It’s become quite clear to me that these printers aren't exactly meant to be disposable items.
I’m looking for a printer that won't completely give up on me after churning through maybe a thousand pages a year—or perhaps if I'm lucky, it might even last two years. I don't feel the need to go out and buy some heavy-duty industrial machine just for that level of usage. Since I'm picking this up here in the States, I'm perfectly comfortable spending anywhere from $100 to $200 to get the job done right.$100 Honestly, I don't really mind whether I deal with the manufacturer directly or go through the retailer; if anything happens, that warranty is my ultimate safety net. If they decide to just hand me a brand-new unit in a year's time, then so be it—I'm perfectly fine with that outcome.
Michael Jackson10 What are your thoughts on that HP model?
So, what’s your actual recommendation here? If we’re going down that road, maybe I should just grab that extra Canon ir5075n sitting in the corner waiting for better days and let it handle about 20 pages a week?
Could you give me an example of what actually makes sense to buy within a budget of roughly $110 to $130?
It’s easy enough to say "you'll lose money here but save it there," but I'd love some specifics. Give me a concrete example of which printer is actually worth it if I'm only printing a couple hundred pages a year.
P.S. Where on earth did you find that burger, man? 👏
EDIT:
As for this HP LaserJet P1102W, even if it only gets 500 prints out of it, that could easily last a year or two. At that point, it isn't a huge deal to just grab an original toner and keep things running for another year or two, provided the hardware holds up. Besides, it’s strictly for black and white anyway; color isn't even on my radar.
So, what you're essentially suggesting is that if I'm only printing, say, ten pages a week, it actually makes more sense for me to just shell out the cash upfront $500 for a dedicated printer. Personally, I’d much rather drop $500-$200 now and then simply pick up a brand-new model in about three years when this one eventually gives up the ghost.
I've been doing a bit of extra digging online, and this particular option is looking like a real win-win situation to me, though I'm curious if anyone here has actually put it through its paces?
hollowmarlin27 said:When you're looking at buying something like this, you really ought to ask yourself one specific question regarding your investment timeline—essentially, over what period of time are you spending those $500? $200 In other words, after how many usage cycles would you feel perfectly fine about making that exact same investment all over again.
Once you've settled on that, take a moment to look up which older models preceded the devices mentioned above.
Then, I’d suggest checking back here on the forum or doing a quick Google search combined with some forum digging to see if those previous models actually lasted through their intended lifecycle before someone inevitably sent them off to a recycling center.
It's quite straightforward, really.
With any other option, at best, you're just subsidizing the federal budget by 25%, padding a retailer's pocket by 10-20%, and covering a payment deficit of 50% every year or two.
So, my advice is to just ask someone here who actually spent $500 $200 and found themselves completely satisfied two years later without feeling the urge to replace it.
Well, I certainly follow your logic, but my last printer was in the $12,000 to $15,000 range 🙂 ....which is why now, when I need a basic home printer for maybe 300 pages a year, I don't want to sink a massive amount of cash into it only to have to buy a new one in three or four years; so, let it be. Besides, for color jobs or anything over 100 pages, I'll just send it to a local photo lab and pick it up five minutes later.
I'm currently looking for something cheap with Wi-Fi so I can avoid running cables everywhere. I know the old adage "buy cheap, buy twice," but honestly, I just don't feel like dropping a fortune on a printer right now. It feels like finding an "okay" printer at this price point might actually be harder than finding a solid one once you cross the $1,500 mark.
Hello everyone, I’m looking to pick up a printer that uses refillable ink tanks. Color isn't actually a priority for me—honestly, I mostly just need black and white, though my parents keep an old photocopier at their place, so I usually just head over there whenever I need to scan or print something in color. This one would mainly be for printing out a few invoices a week and helping my partner print things out when she needs to get some work done.
What’s considered the best value for money these days?
EDIT:
Maybe something like this ?
I have to admit I’m a bit of a lazy guy, so if there's an option to just grab it from LinkedIn in San Francisco, that would be my ideal solution.😁
Here is what I'm currently considering:
It uses ink $30, with a yield of about 360 pages. I suspect I might only end up printing around 300 pages a year, so that capacity seems to fit my needs perfectly.
Bradley Lewis59 said:Try plugging in some other speakers to your PC if you can borrow them. It sounds like the issue might actually be with the speakers themselves, so it's worth ruling that out.
You make a fair point. I actually lost my cool a bit earlier today and tested them on my girlfriend's laptop, and now she's reporting that the audio cuts in and out randomly too. So, there's no denying it. I'm planning to take everything down to Best Buy this coming Monday, along with a detailed written explanation of exactly what happened and when. I learned the hard way that it’s much better to spell everything out clearly for them; otherwise, they tend to send things back claiming "it works fine on our end," which we all know is rarely the case.
Brian Edwards78 said:There is really no reason to hold off any longer because SSDs aren't the luxury items they used to be. I remember back when upgrading storage felt like a massive hit to the wallet, but those days are long gone. In fact, I actually have two of them sitting right here in my desk drawer ready to go. My Seagate 2 TB drive is starting to feel a little cramped on my phone, and I've spent most of the last six months just watching the prices for those 4 TB models steadily drop. Honestly, I might just treat myself to one for my birthday. 😁
Over the years, I’ve slowly built up quite a collection of hardware, ranging from various Apple drives and Western Digital units to some reliable SanDisk and AMD components, though I did have one Crucial drive that unfortunately gave up on me quite unexpectedly. 😠
When I start putting together my next build, I’ve already decided that I’m going to stick exclusively to the larger capacity SSDs.
Bradley Lewis59 said:There is absolutely no reason to hesitate, and I have to say, Brian Edwards78 is spot on with his advice. I actually happen to have a gorgeous 2TB Seagate drive sitting right here, just waiting for the right buyer to take it off my hands. All you really need is an open PCI-E slot and a little bit of extra cash to make it yours. What do you think? 🙂
I’m pretty much living on a shoestring budget right now after getting the apartment fully set up, and if I spent any more on gear, my wife would probably have my head!
Bradley Lewis59 said:My apologies. I really shouldn't be making jokes that miss the mark like that. To set the record straight, I don't actually use any partitions or folders to organize my data. Instead, I prefer a much more straightforward setup where I run four separate hard drives alongside an SSD, with each individual drive dedicated to its own specific purpose. 🤣 😒
Not a single thing from any of that, I'm afraid. *claps* *claps*
Bradley Lewis59 said:Partitioning is a bit overkill if you ask me. Using folders is much more intuitive. Personally, I just stick to simple directories like Music, Movies, and Games. It’s incredibly straightforward and works perfectly fine for me. 🙏
Man, you're going to get banned from this forum if you keep talking like that; please don't ruin my reputation! 😒
Ultimately, it’s entirely up to your own preference, though I personally swear by partitioning and I certainly plan to keep doing so. My current drive setup looks something like this:
C: Main Drive - This isn't really a partition per se, just my primary SSD E: - Music F: - Movies S: - TV Series G: - Miscellaneous (Google Chrome, random junk, etc.) E: - Angry Birds (usually large ISO files, massive Blu-ray rips that won't fit on the movie drive, or backups of various precious little things)
...actually, you've just inspired me to rename my E: drive to M: 😁😁
That said, if you prefer not to deal with partitions, you can absolutely manage everything through folders instead... for my part, my Music directory usually branches out into five subfolders depending on the genre.
I’m going to give this a shot once I get back home later today, and then I'll let you all know how it goes. I actually picked up some new speakers as well, so I'm looking forward to testing out some different audio profiles.
I think I’ll head out and pick up those speakers tomorrow so I can finally run some tests... honestly, I was mostly expecting the whole thing to be one of those situations where you realize, "Well, that was a silly way to handle it, but hey, at least it's xxxx."😁
I’ve run into a bit of a fascinating little glitch lately. I actually dealt with this back when I was running Windows 7, and now that I've upgraded to Windows 10, it seems to have followed me over.
To give you an idea of what’s happening: whenever I start playing some music, a movie, or even jump into a game, the sound from my speakers is hit-or-miss. Sometimes it works perfectly right away, but other times, there's just total silence. My workaround has been to manually slide the volume bar up and down in Windows, which usually wakes them up. Occasionally, the sound will cut out again, and I have to perform that same little volume dance to get it back. Interestingly, I don't experience any of this when I'm using headphones. For context, I'm using a set of Genius 2.1 speakers.
I've already tried the standard troubleshooting steps, like uninstalling the audio drivers and giving the PC a full restart, but nothing has stuck. I’m planning to test the speakers on my girlfriend's laptop later this week just to see if the issue persists there; honestly, it feels more like a hardware quirk than a software bug.
Currently, they are plugged directly into the green audio jack on the back of my tower. If anyone has any insight or advice, I’d love to hear it. It sounds like such a silly, trivial thing to struggle with, but I haven't quite cracked the code yet! 👏
