Between $1,600 and $1,800, what’s actually going to give me the best bang for my buck? A buddy of mine is currently eyeing this:
He’s planning on pairing it with an Intel Core i5 processor... is there anything else in that $1,800–$2,000 range that would perform significantly better? If he can grab a motherboard for around $700 to $900, he’ll be all set to go.

A buddy of mine mentioned he's looking at a motherboard up to $333 and a processor around the $500 mark... naturally, that would be a step up from my current setup. Now the real debate begins: should he go with AMD or Intel? I have a feeling AMD might offer a bit more bang for your buck at that price point.
And once that's sorted, he’ll probably pair it with a new GPU... assuming his girlfriend doesn't give him too much trouble about the budget first. 🎉
They’ve got a 600W power supply, which seems decent enough, though I can't quite recall the specific brand right now 😁 ...they're going to get back to me with the motherboard specs, but for now, they're running an HD 6880, so they're really curious about just how massive the performance jump will be. Honestly, my brain is a bit fried; I used to be able to identify every single graphics card on sight just by its name, but nowadays, looking at all these different models just leaves me feeling a little lost.
EDIT: They are using an SSD, and the motherboard is some mid-range model—they aren't entirely sure of the specifics either. Their plan was to build the system piece by piece, starting with a new GPU, then moving on to a fresh motherboard, and eventually upgrading the processor.
I was hoping to get some advice from the group; a buddy of mine is on the hunt for a new graphics card with a budget of roughly $667 . He's currently running this processor... though I think he's a bit indifferent about whether it's an AMD or Nvidia setup .
I’d strongly suggest staying far away from those websites, please 😁 ...some of us would actually prefer to keep the little bit of money we have left in our wallets 😁
I’ve picked up about four items from Micro Center over the years, and honestly, my experience has been quite positive. On one occasion, I bought a graphics card that arrived DOA, but I sent it back that very same day and had a functional replacement in my hands within two or three days. It was a seamless process. They also had a really great deal on a Samsung

What really stresses me out is having to cover sales tax—sometimes upwards of $30 or $40—on items I already paid for with a card, only to have that money sit in limbo for weeks while payday is right around the corner.😁
The system really needs some better regulation because it’s frustrating when you pay for something and expect it to hit your balance instantly, yet there are times you find yourself waiting an entire month for the funds to clear.👍
On a side note, I haven't had any issues with JPMorgan Chase at all; they haven't asked me to fill out a single extra form beyond my business account, my personal checking, and my savings.
I suppose he went ahead and downloaded the font to give it a proper test run... though if he didn't, well, there's really nothing more to be said about it.

I’ve noticed some people here tend to get argumentative, whether it's due to intense competition or just personal issues. I kindly ask that those types of individuals refrain from contacting me; I simply don't have the time or energy for unnecessary drama.
In my experience, nobody here is truly fighting, especially not specific individuals or people with personal issues. However, when a new user registers and their very first post is something like "we have the best interest rates here, everything is free," while simultaneously sending threats via PM, it tells you exactly who you are dealing with. And you can bet those same types will be sliding into your PMs too.
So, I think it is much better to be grateful that there are helpful responses like some of the ones found here.
