Whether you're running things out of an apartment or a dedicated office, you still need documentation proving you have the right to use that space (think lease agreements, property deeds, purchase contracts, or inheritance papers, etc.).

If you own the house, you can definitely register a bike repair business at your home address. It's actually easier if you're the owner. You just need a property deed or a purchase agreement. If a family member owns it, you just need their consent and proof of ownership. If you don't own it, you'll need a formal lease agreement. For these kinds of small operations, the zoning inspections aren't really a thing.

I could use some help here. I’m working in Word 2010 on a template for meeting minutes—basically a master form I’ll be using every single day where I just swap out the data. It could even work in a residential area. It’s helpful, sure, but let’s not pretend it’s a requirement. MIT doesn't set those kinds of standards for this type of work.
