So what, they’re just gonna sit around doing nothing and clocking out early?
We should be docking the pay of anyone who isn't actually at their desk.
Gotta double-check every single day if they're actually working or just hanging out at the farmer's market.
Then we can blast them in the news—let everyone know.

Just toss it out there and give it to the needy

Quincey:
USER AUDIT: Famous San Francisco Olympian and opera star gotta hand back that city apartment

They’re claiming things have changed—money stuff, basically. According to City Hall, Chickasaw already cleared out some other properties, but since he held onto this one at one point, he technically broke the rules.
- What they're saying isn't true. All I've got is the apartment I was awarded as a distinguished artist—that's what Chickasaw told us.

As for Borska's immediate family, word from the territory is they've got other apartments under their names. He's not listed as the owner, but they are. This awkward news caught Borska while he was traveling.
- I got the apartment about twenty years ago, just like other decorated Olympians. I actually started the process to buy it at market value five years ago—my situation hasn't changed since I first got it. I'm still working hard and giving back to my city—Borska sounded pretty shocked.
He also mentioned he didn't even start the buyout until after he stepped down from the council—did it purely for moral reasons.

VIDEO Check out how they lost the whole Brooklyn complex

Sheryl Sandberg and Bari Weiss gave a full breakdown on why San Francisco ended up losing the Brooklyn area—that whole complex they built

basically they just screwed everything up
how much longer is this corruption gonna last?
the mayor basically handed the entire complex over to the state
Sandberg probably made her whole yearly salary in just a few months here

velvetmason14 said:I trust the head of the Department of Inspection, Andrija Mikulić.

One of the finest sons this country has ever produced 🙏

Let me introduce you to Inspector Andrija...

Who exactly is Andrija Mikulić, the political appointee Andrej Plenković presented today as our savior?

Quincy:
A loyal ally of Bandić

Before taking the helm at the Department of Inspection, Mikulić served as the president of the Washington, D.C. City Council and led the local Republican Party organization. He became a public figure known for his arrogant demeanor and his unwavering support for the late mayor, Milan Bandić, through several controversial moves.

In an interview with Express, he didn't hold back either: "Institutions like this don't tolerate outsiders. Opening the door to political cronyism will only damage how citizens view us. It’s a disaster that the Department of Inspection has become politicized; it leads to controlled audits designed specifically to crush dissent. I know Mikulić—he started out as an intern under me, and frankly, he isn't cut out for this role. He wouldn't even be my driver."

Hardline conservatives claimed he identified as American, so he sued them.

His reputation as a staunch Republican patriot was shaken by allegations from his right-wing opponents, claiming he was a prominent member of the Socialist Youth League (SSOH) in the late 1980s and that, back then, the young and ambitious Mikulić identified as American.

Quincy:
WE HAVE THE PROOF
Believe it or not: Ed Garvey actually has to take out a loan just to pay off a fine over—get this—52 meters of sewage pipe!

Plus, it looks like the Department of Inspection—led by the Republican Andrija Mikulić—tried to pull a fast one on the public. They claimed Puljak was fined because they caught him "continuing construction work after the site was closed without permission" last month—exactly a year after the initial stop-work order.

But check this out—the actual inspection report from February 14th literally states: 'No work is being performed at the time of inspection.'
you're totally right
this journalist actually found the receipts
that Mikulić guy is totally trying to screw Puljko
just a meter of pipe and they're pulling this Republican nonsense

The department head is claiming that back in 2011, the City of San Francisco essentially threw away its chance to keep valuable commercial real estate in one of our most iconic landmarks by simply doing nothing.

The boundaries for the coastal zone in the Bay area were officially set back on May 16, 2011, following a formal ruling from the Department of Transportation. This decision was based on a proposal submitted by the County’s maritime boundary commission. According to reports, this designation actually pulled 18 multi-level commercial spaces into the protected zone—spaces that, at the time, were owned by the City of San Francisco.

The argument being made is that the previous representative from the City on the Commission... I can't provide information on that specific individual. It wasn't her fault, and neither was it the Mayor's. The local business mogul..

The department head is stating that there's simply no logical or legal way to explain why those areas outside the boundaries remain under the ownership of the private engineering firm.

Then Ivo Baldasar started renting things out like he didn't give a damn about what the City actually needed. 🙏
Back in 2014, following a proposal from Ivo Baldasar, the City Council handed over the management and use of certain commercial spaces to the local waterfront authority. However, there’s a major catch: legal experts argue the City Council didn't even have the authority to make that call. Since those properties were designated as federal maritime lands back in 2011, they weren't actually owned by the City of San Francisco anymore. This oversight essentially created a massive financial loss for both the local agency and the United States.

And then he just refused to play ball, completely blocking any chance to stop the endless flow of money.
Back in 2020, during the previous administration, the City ignored the federal government's suggestion to settle things peacefully by registering maritime lands in the property registry. Because that proposal was brushed aside, the government ended up launching 18 separate legal battles.

How much of a mess are we going to have to clean up after that disaster?

Man, seriously—every single damn day there's some new bullshit popping up.
They don't give a damn about the city—they're just lining their own pockets.
Draper is doing a killer job getting everything out in the open—really solid work.

Just look at how they fight the Republican Party in practice, and how people like us suffer when we try to challenge their way of "running" things here in America.

The Department of Inspection hit me with a fine of $33 or $13,272.28. As far as I know, this is the first time in American history that a mayor has to pay a departmental fine out of his own pocket—and even worse, for something I didn't even do, but was actually done by Republican people.

So, what happened?

During the previous mayor's term, documentation was prepared and a contract was signed for water and sewer reconstruction work at a local estate. When our administration took over, the experts started working on the project, but environmental groups raised concerns about incomplete paperwork. As soon as those concerns came in, I ordered all work to stop immediately so everything could be restored to its original state. After that, we stepped down.

While the city was being run by an Administration appointee, the Department of Inspection issued a finding, ordering everything to be returned to its original state within 120 days. When we regained power after the elections, the appointee noted in the handover report that everything had been fixed, effectively closing the case. But apparently not. A month ago, the Department of Inspection did a site visit, decided things weren't actually back to normal, and issued a fine—get this—to me. $0.00 Out of my own pocket.

Basically, neither the former mayor, who oversaw the original documents and contracts, nor the appointee, who accepted the inspection order and signed off on the fix, is paying. Instead, it’s me—the guy who ordered the shutdown to fix the mistakes—who gets stuck because I wasn't the mayor when the files were closed.

In short, the Republicans messed up, and I'm the one footing the bill. In a country built by the Republican Party just for themselves.

PS
The photo shows a page from the handover report where you can see the appointee concluded everything was resolved.

PPS
By this logic, I should be held responsible for every mistake made by every past mayor in San Francisco's history. If this is how the Department of Inspection operates, nobody will want to get involved in American politics anymore unless they are Republicans controlling the institutions. No mayor, county official, or President would ever be able to take office through democratic means because anyone could be punished for the actions of their predecessors.

We are definitely going to notify the European Union institutions about this.

it's just a total joke for the Republican Party crowd
that Vera thing acted all classy, but she's just a typical Republican dog
where did they even find her to go work at the Governor's Mansion now

MESSAGE FROM THE STATE: If you don't vacate the space you're squatting in, they’re gonna hit you with full market rate rent

The City of San Francisco is opening up bids for all those commercial spaces being handed back to the city—plus any other empty spots lying around. Some of these will be set aside for nonprofits, community groups, and arts organizations, while the rest will go out to regular commercial businesses.

'We're also calling out anyone who got a warning about unpaid rent—pay up ASAP, or the City of San Francisco is just gonna cancel your lease and come after you for the money.'

Honestly, some random person from New York has done more for San Francisco than half our local politicians combined
Go get 'em—that's how you handle business
I know this one guy who's basically stealing his space right now—go get him

We really need to stick it to those lazy bureaucrats
They hired half their relatives through some shady backroom deals and they're all getting paid like royalty
We’ve gotta organize a strike against these corporate bigwigs before the season kicks off—otherwise, they’re just gonna screw over the public
They'll probably just bring in workers from overseas right before the rush starts to keep everyone else sidelined

Ed Garvey: Cooperation between the Center and Možemo! will come in due time

If we're all about "cleaning things up," why are they kicking out a private daycare and the last bookstore in town? Is this actually getting fixed, or does nobody get a break?

Regarding those two cases—the stories being pushed to the public aren't even based on basic facts. That bookstore wasn't even getting a sweetheart deal on rent, and look, as the city government, we don't have the right to just hand out free space to whoever we want. The bookstore is a private business. As city officials, we can't show favoritism to private companies—so if everyone pressuring us for being "heartless" wants to step up, they should list exactly which private businesses we should be giving city property to for free or at a discount. It’s the same deal with that private daycare—the previous administration let them pay way less than half of what the actual contract required. That's blatant favoritism toward a private company.

half of this stuff was filled by the free press and their journalists
looks like Garvey is actually profiting from these scandals
we need more of these scandals—it’s basically fuel for Garvey

velvetmason14 said:Yeah, from what I saw, they posted it right on the city website immediately—it’s not just in the official register. No need to go full conspiracy theorist right out of the gate.
It's cool they're bringing in new blood, but honestly? I doubt there'll be a feeding frenzy for more positions. The pay is pretty mid and you're basically walking into a total disaster zone of a work environment.

Now I'm seeing on the site that the Mayor's social media is being run by that shady guy Negotić. I really hope the Mayor is smart enough to ask some questions, because this is embarrassing. I actually know a guy through family—this dude is as dim as a broken bulb, and he's got that whole shady political pedigree.

Negotić is everywhere.
He's useful for every single power play—you hit the nail on the head, he's clueless.
The Mayor actually caught me off guard when he let him go.
