What would happen if the mods went on strike? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Matthew Anderson said:How could they possibly shut down a forum that’s clearly already falling apart? 😁

To be honest, when I first sat down to write this, I hadn't fully grasped just how much of a mess this forum has become.😲

Andrew Jackson, we might need a fresh start.

stormyraven14 said:As we all know, a strike is simply a refusal to work due to unacceptable working conditions.

If we consider a scenario where a handful of moderators—just as an example—disagree with a specific rule and decide to go on strike, what would the fallout be?

According to them, of course.

In the US, with hundreds of thousands of people looking for work, the result of such a strike would likely just be a termination, followed by hiring even cheaper labor from the unemployment office. Is that a possibility here too?

What I mean is, if the majority of the moderators disagree with something but are "forced" to enforce it, would they get screwed over for not following orders?

Just like in the rest of the democratic, free, and liberal world, that strike would pass peacefully—much like a grocery shopping trip in the 1940s.

First, the administration would threaten them with termination. Then, the moderators union would emerge, eventually reaching a deal with the administration because, let's face it, everyone has a price. After that, the remaining dissatisfied group would organize into what I call the "Real Moderators Union."

The administration would call in the strikers, and the mods would verbally tear them apart on the forum. The admins would then demand protection for the forum, calling in all sorts of authorities to try and restore order.

Over on the East Coast—excuse me—on certain sub-forums, riots would break out. The mods would arm themselves, and the admins would respond with airstrikes.

Within a week, the forum would be swarming with trolls attacking everyone in sight, mostly those "peacekeepers" trying to grab whatever little they can for themselves.

There would be plenty of refugees, as people fled to other forums seeking safety.

Chaos would spread through the sub-forums, and within a month, the whole forum would be torn apart.

Then there's this post by Bailiff—I reported it myself, but the mods just ignored me:

I also flagged this one from Felixx, where he doubles down on women being "intellectually and fundamentally inferior"—same result, obviously: 🙄,

There’s an endless stream of stuff like this in this thread—mostly from Bailiff, but others too. I’ve stopped reporting them since, frankly, it feels like a waste of time.

I just stumbled upon this supposedly "brilliant" thread and your futile attempt to wage this endless crusade.

To give you an idea, Thomas Morgan67 also stated this:

.

I have said plenty of other things on this forum, and there are users and moderators alike who have been following my posts for quite some time. Because of that, your attempt to lump me in with people who view women as intellectually inferior is about as successful as Mr. Bean's driving skills.

Beyond trying to blackmail the moderation team—perfidiously threatening to punish anyone who doesn't share your worldview by hiding behind a misunderstood interpretation of the law that actually favors your opponents more than you—you simply aren't capable of making a concrete point. In fact, you never have.

Democracy allows you to ramble, just as freedom guarantees the right to an opinion. However, neither of those gives you a private pass to shame people, spread lies about other users, twist facts, or threaten and blackmail the entire community just to shut down threads you don't like.

I personally don't care for the bloodthirsty cheering for the invasion of Syria, but I don't go running to the authorities or drag anyone's name through the mud under some false banner of "righteousness."

Grow up!

Your actions have done more damage to feminism than all the enforcement posts combined.

If people realized that you don't represent feminism, but rather "feminism" itself, you would be swept into the scrapheap of forum history in a heartbeat. That’s where you belong.

I sincerely hope you stop dragging my username through this forum with your delusions and twisting my words. I truly hope that, once and for all, I am finished dealing with your "personality."

Best regards!

I suspect that’s exactly what they’re aiming for. They just aren't willing to put it in writing; instead, they expect us to be mind readers. Or, quite frankly, they simply don't know how to express themselves clearly...🤷

Sophia Thomas7 said:If by "controversial" you mean people who think they have a free pass to insult others, troll, or just be generally obnoxious, then honestly, I'm glad the troublemakers are gone. Besides, LJS remains one of the busiest boards here, so claims about people leaving don't really hold much water.

Anyway, everyone's entitled to their own take. I'll let you know what the mods decide.

I actually wrote something very similar in both my posts on those two shut-down threads when I tried to send this: "I'm sorry, this thread is closed."

I honestly believe this topic has the potential to be one of the most serious discussions we have here. If we expand the scope from "street harassment" to "sexual harassment," we could foster an incredibly productive debate without falling into ad hominem attacks. In my view, it’s much easier to discipline the trolls—the ones who resort to insults and humiliation—than it is to just kill off an entire discussion where people want to speak up. Honestly, regarding how we manage these boards, it feels wrong to move this to another sub-forum given that we are talking about sexual harassment. This thread has real substance; it's easily one of the more important discussions on LJS.

It is rare to see a thread this foundational, where we reference a specific law or social norm right at the start, only to pivot into deep questions about sexual freedom, upbringing, and human sexuality. I truly believe this topic holds too much importance to be shut down. It has stirred up so much dust because the issue is even more sensitive and less defined than that famous piece of legislation we were debating before New Year's. As they say, there's no smoke without fire.🙂
Is war actually going to happen? in Close to Politics ·
Yes, war is incredibly easy to incite, and we could see it happen. If someone were to stir up a civil war in America today, it would break out by tomorrow. This is all because of a specific segment of the population that believes we need to settle scores with the other half of the nation. But honestly? Let's settle the score with our own mindset and habits instead. Let’s stop acting like primitive idiots and start investing in ourselves, strengthening our diplomacy, and developing America across every single sector. Any kind of internal conflict would only deepen our divisions and trigger disastrous consequences for us all. We should focus on legally punishing those who break the law, educating the American people so they don't make the wrong choices at the polls again, firmly correcting the international community through diplomatic channels, and ensuring all American citizens can live freely in a democratic—not communist or Nazi—America.
