Birth control and libido in Women's Health ·
I was on birth control for about a year and a half. I tried Yasmin, which was okay, but Logest? That was a total disaster for me. My libido completely vanished, and honestly, sex became painful. About a month ago, I finally decided to stop taking them altogether. And let me tell you, I finally had intimacy without that look of pain on my face! 🎉 🙂

My OB-GYN actually told me that you really need to go through at least three boxes before you can even tell if the pills are working for you or not. It takes a bit of time for your body to adjust to the new hormone levels, so it's perfectly normal to deal with some side effects during those first few weeks. Maybe if you'd held out for another month or two, things would have leveled out... 🤷

Jesse Cruz, you aren't pregnant. You caught your period right on schedule. As for that exhaustion, the forecast looks pretty grim, and honestly, given this weather, it’s perfectly normal to feel run down. You aren't alone in that. Don't go jumping to conclusions about pregnancy over every little thing!

John Campbell24 said:I was wondering if anyone else using Logest has dealt with issues regarding libido? I’m heading in to pick up my prescription next week, so I really need to decide which pills to stick with...

Personally, switching to Logest actually brought my libido back after it had completely tanked while I was on Yasmin. Even my natural lubrication improved, which was such a relief. Generally speaking, I find these much easier to tolerate too—the mood swings and irritability have pretty much vanished. My only real gripe is that I feel like my breasts have lost a bit of their fullness...

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first too, but honestly, using condoms isn't strictly necessary. In the beginning, I didn't let him finish inside me; it took me a little while to truly relax and feel comfortable. But like Jeffrey Walker3 says, if a baby actually happens, then it was just meant to be! 😁
Sex is fine, but my OBGYN says no?! in Women's Health ·
Going to the gynecologist is honestly just part of life. I didn't even step foot in an office until I was 23, and that was only because I’d become sexually active. To be honest, I really didn't want my first visit to be as a virgin, but once I moved past that stage, I made sure to book an appointment within the month. I felt a little awkward at first, but I just told the doctor it was my first time, and he was incredibly gentle and attentive. Nowadays, getting my annual checkup is completely routine for me, though I'll go more often if I feel the need. Plus, if I ever have a question, I can just give him a call or drop by without an appointment to ask.

It’s honestly silly to worry that they’re judging you or looking at you sideways just because you're showing up with a health concern. That’s literally what they are there for—to help us and keep us healthy. Think about it: how many patients do they see in a single day? They see everyone—hairy, shaved, clean, messy, healthy, or sick! 🙂 To them, this is all totally normal. It’s just their job.
Vaginal health issues – any advice? in Women's Health ·
I know exactly what you mean—that happens to me every once in a while too. It’s almost like the skin just cracks, and then there's this intense stinging sensation that can drive you absolutely crazy, especially if you're trying to focus on typing or getting things done. Usually, it settles down after a day or so. I've realized it tends to flare up after more intense intimacy or simply if I'm not naturally lubricated enough.

Susan Lopez43 said:For those of you who switched from Yasmine to Logest, did you notice any weight changes? Any changes in breast size?

I actually put on about 4 pounds while I was on Yasmine, but so far with Logest, my weight hasn't budged. That said, I just started the third pack, so things could still shift. As for my breasts—they actually grew nearly a full cup size on Yasmine, but they've shrunk back down a little bit on this new one. On the bright side, they aren't sore and swollen anymore, which was such a relief.
Overall, I’m feeling much better on Logest. Most importantly, my libido is finally back in action! Dealing with dryness was easily my biggest struggle when I was taking Yasmine.

So, here’s the deal: I’ve been on Yasmin for months now and everything is fine, EXCEPT my libido is absolutely non-existent and things are feeling pretty dry down there. I think I’m done with this pack; I’m not doing this anymore. I'm heading over to see my doctor to look for something else... So, what new options should I be looking into?? Give me some recommendations from ladies who haven't gone through childbirth... 😕 🤷

I had the exact same experience on Yasmin. I’ve since switched to my second pack of Logest, and I think I’m finally starting to notice a slight improvement. We'll see how things progress from here.
casualowl10 said:Not starting a new thread, I'll just ask here. Two weeks after my period, I had this brown discharge last Saturday that lasted for one day. Usually, if I get discharge like that, it happens right before my period starts... I've never had it mid-cycle like this before. I've been trying to call my OB-GYN all day but can't get through, so I'm asking here. I have mild PCOS... could that be it, or is it something else?🤷

It can also show up during ovulation.

Sandra Miller54 said:Hi ladies! I’m jumping into this thread for the very first time. I’ve been lurking and reading your posts for a while, but I finally ran into a little hiccup myself.
So, here’s the deal: I’m currently on my fifth pack of Yasmin. Everything has been absolutely perfect up until now—zero issues at all! For the last four months, I’ve consistently gotten my period about two or three days into my break. It was totally predictable.
But now, things have changed. I’m on my fifth pack with four pills left to go, and three days ago, I started feeling these intense cramps—exactly like my usual PMS. Then, I noticed some spotting. It was very minimal and kind of brownish. That lasted for two days, but then today, the actual bleeding started—bright red and much heavier.

Is it actually possible to have my period before I’ve even finished the pack? Or did something go wrong? Has anyone else dealt with something similar? I would honestly appreciate any insight you can share, because I’m traveling right now and won't be able to make it to a doctor anytime soon.

Thanks so much in advance!

It’s possible it might be some kind of inflammation. 🤷
I actually had that same thing happen this month—that brownish discharge before the pack was finished. My doctor mentioned it’s just the body reacting to the hormones in the pill. That said, I’m only on my first month of Logest, so I doubt it’s a sudden reaction for you since you've been on yours for a while.
If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't panic too much. The main thing is to watch those ovarian pains; if they persist, that's when you should pay closer attention. Just see if it happens again next month...

Jeffrey Walker3 said:Wait, isn't today day 8? 🤔 If you start drinking on Monday, that means the last dose is Sunday, and then you take a break Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun...
People have already been debating this here...
But my instructions say the same thing—you start drinking on the exact same day every week.

Exactly!
There’s a seven-day break, and then you kick off the next pack on day eight. You always start the new box on that same day of the week.

Hey, Jesse Cruz3! So, a friend of mine was over at the pediatrician's office today, and I asked her to check on that issue both you and I have been dealing with. The doctor mentioned it could just be the body reacting to a change in medication, though there’s also a chance our dosage is simply too low. We really ought to wait and see if this keeps happening over the next two or three months before we look into switching prescriptions altogether.

edit: Actually, looking at the thread, Elizabeth Palmer2 says the exact same thing. 😉

Jesse Cruz3 said:I think my period is starting, even though I still have five pills left in this pack... I'm on Logest (third pack)... before this, I was taking Yasmin for about 8 or 9 months before switching over to Logest. Everything seemed fine until now...
Actually, I'm not even sure if it's a period, but I noticed some brownish discharge today...😕
Should I be worried?

That is exactly what happened to me! I’m on my first pack of Logest, and tomorrow is my last pill. I was also on Yasmin for 8 months. Today, I noticed that same brownish discharge. I never had anything like that while on Yasmin—my period was always perfectly regular after three days, no weird spotting. It doesn't feel like an infection or anything, but the discharge is definitely there. I'm going to wait and see if it continues tomorrow and if my normal period actually shows up during the break; if not, then I'll make an appointment with my OB-GYN. For now, I'm not panicking too much, but I'm definitely a bit confused... 😕
If you figure out what's going on, let me know...

swiftbison25 said:Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to reset my cycle back to its usual rhythm after taking a break from my birth control pills. To give you some context, I’ve always been very consistent—starting my first pack on a Thursday and finishing the last pill on a Wednesday, which meant my period would always arrive on Sunday. It worked perfectly for my schedule. However, since the rule is that I have to start the new pack on the very first day of my period (which would be this Sunday), my whole routine is going to get thrown off, and honestly, I really liked the old timing... So, here is what I'm thinking: if I take the first pill this Sunday and go through the entire pack, then immediately start the next one without taking any break days, how should I handle the transition? Should I stop mid-way through the second pack—say, on the first Wednesday (which would be just three days into the new pack)—or should I continue with the second pack almost until the end, meaning until that final Wednesday of the month? I hope I haven't made this way too complicated, but I'm hoping someone can follow my logic and point me in the right direction...

Well, if you ask me, it might be better to just take three pills from that second pack. That way, you'll probably avoid any spotting or breakthrough bleeding along the way.😉
I was taking Yasmin before, about two weeks ago, but now I've switched over to Logest. I’m really hoping this leads to some positive changes, because honestly, I’ve had such a hard time getting into the mood. It’s starting to get a bit frustrating, truly, because I just can't seem to enjoy sex normally. No matter how turned on I get, I stay completely dry down there. 😠 😢

Jesse Cruz3 said:I also switched from Yasmin to Logest... My doctor told me to start Logest after the standard seven-day break... That’s what the instructions say, too... but she didn't mention anything about needing extra protection... though someone else here mentioned needing backup for the first week of Logest...
I didn't bother with extra protection, but my boyfriend doesn't finish inside anyway...
So, I don't really know. 🤷

But yeah, you start them after the seven days...

Oh, thanks. 🙂 I'll make sure to tell my partner to wait at least a week before pulling out. 😉>

Have you noticed a major difference between Yasmin and Logest? I actually made the switch to Logest primarily because I was dealing with intense dryness down there. That was my only real side effect (aside from some heavier 🙂), but honestly, it was unbearable. I mean, what’s the point of birth control if you can't even enjoy sex normally?

I guess it doesn't say anywhere... just wondering..🙂

It’s an interesting point you’re making, though I find myself wondering if we might be looking at the situation through a bit too narrow a lens. While there’s no denying that antibiotics play a critical role in fighting off bacterial infections, saying they are the only thing that makes a difference feels like we're overlooking a whole ecosystem of recovery. Of course, when you're facing a serious infection, antibiotics are often the heavy lifters—the frontline defense, if you will. But if we consider the broader picture of health, isn't it also about how our immune systems are functioning, our nutrition, and even just getting enough rest? It’s almost like looking at a car repair; sure, you need the specific part to fix the engine, but you also need high-quality fuel and regular maintenance for the vehicle to actually run smoothly in the long term. I don't mean to suggest that medicine isn't vital—far from it—but I think the body's own resilience plays a much larger part in the equation than we sometimes give it credit for. What do you all think? Are we leaning too heavily on the quick fix, or is the science pretty settled on this being the primary factor? 😉 And that’s really all there is to it.

I have a question for everyone here. I’ve just switched from Yasmin to Logest. I made sure to take a seven-day break in between, just like my doctor, Dr. Ginić, advised. However, I'm feeling a little confused now—should I be using any additional protection for a certain period of time? 🤷 I’ve been reading through some of your posts here, and I noticed something that caught my eye. It seems like most of you didn't actually take that seven-day break when switching to a different type of pill—you just moved straight onto the next pack without stopping. Honestly, seeing that has left me feeling a little bit confused about how it all works. 😕
