Good grief, now even Travis Kelce has gone and ruined my mood... what a complete waste of testing time... 🙂

Sebastian Vettel is absolutely cooking right now! He switched over to the soft tires and immediately found more pace, dropping his time down to a 1:20.570—which put him within a tiny 0.023s of the lead. And then, just a single lap later, he went full throttle and snatched the outright fastest time with a 1:20.506. What a massive jump!
Pass the trophy over here! 🙌

At least based on those 2017/2018 side-by-side comparisons you see floating around online...
Before they bumped up the wheelbase by pushing the front axle forward, looking at the car from a head-on angle makes it look like it's been drastically slimmed down...
But if you check out an aerial comparison, there isn't really such a massive narrowing compared to what those front-view shots suggest...

When you view it from the front, the impression is that the slimming is huge...
But once you switch to a bird's-eye view, the only truly significant narrowing is at the rear; there’s some at the front too, but it’s nowhere near as extreme as it looks at first glance...

I am looking forward to seeing what Mercedes, Ferrari, and Alfa bring to the table.
What really interests me is whether Mercedes will follow suit and start copying Ferrari too, given that all three cars have essentially become Ferrari clones now.

Are these rough estimates including or excluding oil burning?
The data doesn't seem quite right to me either; both Ferrari and Mercedes were blathering about figures near 1000 hp last year, weren't they?
My prediction for engine power in 2018—specifically the Mercedes vs Ferrari ratio—is that it will mirror last year's table perfectly. In other words: equal!

The source is an article from the German network ABC.
