Budget gaming PC build for $600-$750? in Desktops ·
I don't see any disc drives here, though I suppose that shouldn't cause much trouble since you can just install everything via USB. this monitor seems like a total steal if you can get it for under $500

I suppose it might be smarter to just grab a newer, higher-quality power supply now, just so you don't have to worry about upgrading to a beefier graphics card down the road.

I don't think that FX 8320 is going to work with this motherboard. Personally, I'd probably lean toward an i5 instead, since I get the feeling those specific programs tend to run a bit smoother on Intel processors anyway.

I suppose this Pentium is probably the smarter way to go, especially if you're planning on overclocking anything, plus having this motherboard gives you a much wider range of upgrade paths compared to what you'd get with FM2, I guess.

I suppose the best move would be an H97 board that gives you a path toward a Broadwell upgrade later on. Something like the Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H, maybe.

So, you don't have a GTX 460? What kind of motherboard are you running? I guess if your board is actually compatible, you might be able to just throw an FX 6300 in there and call it a day.

I suspect that particular motherboard might not be the smartest move if you're aiming for the 8320. Honestly, I'm leaning towards thinking the 6300 would be the better way to go here, since it would probably allow you to squeeze in a higher-quality board and a more capable graphics card instead.

Is this build worth the money? in Desktops ·
These games aren't particularly demanding, so you could probably just settle on the third option. I guess if you just swap out the graphics card for an EVGA Radeon R9 270, $27 it might be a bit more expensive than the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 at Micro Center, but

Any ideas for a better PC upgrade? in Desktops ·
Mixing an integrated GPU with a discrete one probably isn't the smartest move here. In certain games, you might not see any performance boost at all. Honestly, spending time and money just to swap out the same amount of RAM for slightly faster speeds seems like a waste; I guess it's better to just stick with what you have and put that cash toward a dedicated card instead. For instance, a GTX 750 Ti would run about $120

I don't think you really need to worry about upgrading your RAM. Whether it's running at 1333 or 1600 MHz doesn't make much of a difference in this case; the main thing is just making sure you have 8GB total. As for a graphics card, you could probably grab an R7 265, a GTX 750 Ti, or maybe an R7 260x. You might be able to squeeze in one more hard drive too. However, you should definitely get a new power supply—something like a Fortron Hexa 400 or just the cheapest Corsair CX430W you can find.
