I don't get this at all—and look, I'm probably the biggest fan of this flick on this entire board—but Jamie Lee shouldn't have even been up for an Oscar, let alone won one. Like, sure, she was fine for her specific role, but even the legend James Hong outshined her. And don't even get me started on Stephanie Hsu, who is totally on the same level as Ke and Michelle.

It’s tough to stay engaged until the end, sure, but it’s not like the movie is insulting your intelligence or anything... it’s not like it’s poorly shot either. It actually has some pretty slick cinematography in there if you look closely.

The only huge red flag for me is that Banksica is directing this. Man, it’s such a shame they didn't just hire someone like Tommy Wirkol or someone with that kind of vibe instead.

Pretty solid flick—Batista actually kills it in this one. It’s mostly just one location, which somehow keeps you hooked the whole time, even if I felt like it needed a bit more tension or some real gut-wrenching doubt about whether these people are crazy cultists or actually telling the truth. There was definitely room for more meat on those bones; the potential was right there.

At least it wasn't total garbage like that Old movie...

The ending... man, I'm torn on how much I liked it. The thing with Shyamalan is that you're always bracing for some massive, insane twist, so you either nail it or it ends up being a total letdown. Here, he actually subverted that expectation, and honestly, maybe that's exactly what it needed.

I'm gonna throw on some sweats and head to the theater with my crew to catch this—honestly, I feel like this is the only way you should even experience a movie like this. 🎉

The absolute peak for me is that scene where the specialist pulls out the big rifle and starts picking off the bad guys through the cars. Man, I really miss those kinds of high-octane moments.
And then there’s that part right after, where Gerard is basically piloting an airplane with one wheel and takes out the main villain. Just legendary.

Honestly, looking back at last year, there just wasn't anything better than this movie in all of 2022. I’ve already seen it four times—and yeah, I cry my eyes out every single time it hits the end. It’s just... special to me.
