wiredfalcon2 said:I wouldn't advise it, because the reasoning behind the bans was laid out quite calmly and clearly, yet you two just keep playing dumb. You were given straightforward answers to your questions; anything beyond that is just pure spamming and trolling.

Just apologize for how you're acting so we can move on. Stop clogging up the feed with this nonsense. 🙂

So, what you're basically saying with this post is that if you provide a reason for a ban, you're somehow entitled, as a moderator, to call a female user a fat, insecure attention-seeking idiot?

How precious!

Chloe Green61 said:Your attempts at trolling off-topic are just aggressive personal attacks against another user in a space where that doesn't belong. Also, keep in mind that moderator actions regarding warnings can be made public.

it’s an ad hominem attack against the other person

😕😲
Thanks, Jason Morgan. Everything is much clearer now. 🙂

I am certain that the user saw that post as a subtle compliment to his eloquence, his vocabulary, his unique style, and his way of expressing himself. 🙂 Because that is exactly what it was.

But he isn't a moderator.

In fact, he didn't even get to read the post because you deleted it.

Beyond that, people often joke that they break a sweat just trying to read him. And that isn't a criticism; quite the opposite. If you take my word for it, it is absolutely worth the effort of working through his sentences.

Well...

So you think the best way to handle that is to hand out a warning to a user who has been contributing meaningfully to what you call a "serious and constructive" discussion, just because they wrote something that wasn't strictly on-topic?

Alright. Maybe I was just delusional in thinking my previous posts actually added anything to the conversation. And maybe I don't need to be slapped with a 35-point penalty for a completely harmless comment. But I can tell you one thing: it certainly didn't make me feel any more welcome in this thread.

Oh. So they're boring to you. Well, why didn't you say so?

I said they were boring to *me*. I wasn't making a universal declaration about everyone else's interests. I tried to be specific about how I felt. I didn't realize you'd take that as an invitation for such unnecessary irony.
Well, that changes everything.
From now on, threads will be opened or closed based solely on whether wanderingbadger44 finds them tedious or not.
🙂

I'm curious, just for kicks, how many points would someone like me lose for posting with this kind of tone?
Personally, your sarcasm doesn't bother me; I've always been quite comfortable navigating through a bit of wit. 🙂

I’d love to.

Would you be a sweetheart and help me out by explaining, as if I’ve never even heard the term before, what exactly "trolling" means?

I think it would be much easier for me to wrap my head around things if we could just strip away all the layers and look at the core definition. It’s like if I had read up on a topic and gathered all the facts, yet I still found myself struggling to grasp the true essence or how people actually apply it in conversation.

Otherwise, I’m going to be stuck with a pretty unpleasant theory: that the moderators just label something as trolling whenever they decide they don't like a user with a high reputation score.

The spark that lit this whole fire was getting flagged on Reddit with a note claiming I was just trolling. My gut reaction was to file a formal complaint immediately. Honestly, I was pretty incensed because the post itself was written with such genuine good intentions—even if it drifted a bit off-topic, much like the responses that followed it. Here’s what it looked like:

I just saw that I picked up an infraction over on Reddit.

This violation carries a 35-point penalty, which could lead to a temporary suspension of your account access until the period lapses. Please keep in mind that more severe infractions are permanent and will never expire.

I’ve been thinking quite a bit about how we navigate our lives, much like how a seasoned sailor might read the subtle shifts in the wind before a storm hits. It often feels as though we are just drifting, waiting for some external force to dictate our direction, rather than taking the helm ourselves. There is a certain weight to realizing that the choices we make today are the very stones we are laying for the foundation of our future selves. It isn't always easy to see the pattern while you're still in the middle of the work, but I truly believe that if we approach every decision with intention, we can eventually look back and see a path that was built with purpose rather than just accidental steps.

I can't quite wrap my head around why someone would feel the need to hide behind a mask like that. It feels a bit like trying to build a real connection through a frosted window; you might see the shape of the person, but you never truly get to know the soul underneath. kaže:
I just didn't have any other choice in the matter. 😁🤣
It’s got more weight behind it than you do, wouldn't you say? 😍

Look, if you need some comfort, here it is: hardly anyone even notices. Most people aren't really reading your posts anyway, much like how most folks just scroll past headlines without ever actually absorbing the story. 🤣 It feels like they're just throwing around abstract nouns and burying everything under these massive, convoluted sentences filled with foreign jargon—it’s almost like they’re trying to pass off academic white papers as actual communication. 🙂

For those of us who actually take the time to read, if we can somehow manage to pierce through that thick layer of meta-language you've built up to find the actual point, it becomes pretty obvious that what happened was just a slip of the tongue.
Wishing you nothing but the best.
Reddit
At first, I just assumed the moderator had completely misread my point—that they’d somehow projected a malicious intent onto my words that simply wasn't there. But then the thought hit me: if someone lacks the basic ability to comprehend what's being said, perhaps they shouldn't be in a position of authority at all. That realization stung, and in a moment of pure frustration, I fired off two heated direct messages to the moderator, which resulted in me getting banned. Their response was essentially a jab implying that I should be mindful of my own reputation, though I honestly don't see how one's standing in a community serves as a valid metric for moderation. Regardless, let's move past that; I'll just use this whole ordeal as a jumping-off point to discuss something else that has been weighing heavily on my mind for quite some time.

I’m honestly just wondering if anyone—whether it’s the owner, the admins, the leadership, or even the regular users—actually cares about this platform turning into a space where political correctness, boredom, and total sterility are the norm, creating this bland, uninspired environment defined by a forced politeness that feels fake and, ultimately, just plain stupid under the guise of following community guidelines.

When a serious discussion stretches across twenty-five pages and involves about ten regulars who have pretty much laid all their cards on the table, the conversation naturally starts to lose its edge. Once everyone has shared their perspective, people tend to relax and drift into lighter, more casual territory that isn't strictly tied to the original subject. In those moments, if nobody is being offensive or rude, should we really be labeling those side comments as off-topic, spam, or trolling?

I honestly can't wrap my head around this sudden push to put a moratorium on sterilization.

I honestly find it pretty stifling because it kills any sense of genuine, spontaneous conversation you might want to have on a site like Reddit. It’s tough to really open up when you're constantly looking over your shoulder, worrying that if your post isn't a direct, literal answer to a headline like "I slept with him, am I pregnant??!!"—and I'm exaggerating there, obviously—it'll just be flagged as trolling, spam, or some other kind of off-topic nonsense.

I can see why moderators would find it easy and comfortable to manage threads like the one that’s been sitting at the top of Reddit for weeks about zodiac signs, but honestly, those kinds of topics just bore me. It makes me wonder, why don't we see any interesting discussions anymore, not just on Reddit but everywhere?

It seems to me that whenever a thread pops up that actually catches my interest, there’s always someone showing up with warnings and this intense, almost overwhelming passion for scrubbing, deleting, and punishing people. It really suffocates that sense of immediacy, spontaneity, and relaxed, easygoing writing that makes a community feel alive.

To me, the whole site is starting to smell more and more like Clorox because some mods are constantly pouring it over everything in an attempt to keep posts sterile, strictly on-topic, dry, clean, and politically—or just generally—correct. It’s just dull.🙄

It wasn't always like this, though. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic for the good old days, or perhaps I've simply grown tired of this forum.🤷

What do you all think?

edit: I just noticed dustyranger64's warning on that specific thread. I really don't want dustyranger64 to think I was targeting him with this post. I think he's great.

I feel like I have to vent because I can't stress enough how much I thought Ella was doing just fine, and now it feels like I’m the one who pushed her away.

I also find myself needing to speak up whenever it feels like people are being totally unfair toward Colbert.

Plus, there's a certain simple joy in looking back at my own posts. :herp: 🤣

silvercyclist32 said:Look, I really want to apologize again for my clumsy and offensive way of moderating things. All I can say is that when a conversation keeps going without any reports being filed, it starts to feel a bit like people are just messing around.

Silver, I am truly sorry that you’re taking this so personally. It makes me feel terrible because that wasn't my intention at all, let alone trying to lecture you. Honestly, I'm an adult; I understand that people miss things sometimes for all sorts of reasons, and I don't expect anyone to jump through hoops for me. You said it, it bothered me, but I'm not someone who makes a mountain out of a molehill—I moved past it and didn't hold a grudge. I'm only bringing it up again because someone called me out on it. I could have just stayed quiet if I had realized how much this would sting for you. I just didn't think, and for that, I'm sorry. It's probably similar to how you didn't intend for Finnegan's posts to bother me, even though I don't make a scene or report them. Again, I'm not holding this against you. Please don't hold it against me for mentioning it.

It’s hard for me to feel like I've suddenly become your critic, especially since you're apologizing to me for "offensive moderation" when I've never actually voiced a single criticism outside of that one brief note on the Suggestions thread back when it was still active. I wrote it, and then I let it go. It feels like that one little comment is being treated as more significant than anything else, even though you can see plenty of other users on Reddit constantly nitpicking everything. That weighs on me.

I just want you to know that I never would have typed those words if I thought they would hit you this hard. Our connection matters to me far more than being right about some minor rule.

Ugh, this whole situation is just exhausting. 😢

Justin Newman38 said:- We all have a duty to support people with disabilities, including you.

I’m honestly stunned by that. Do you actually have proof that he has medically documented special needs, or are we just taking his word for it?

Even if he is telling the truth, it doesn't change the fact that he doesn't belong in this space. And even if we were to accept him here, why should Arthur Anderson49 and I be expected to coddle him or endure his behavior? It seems like everyone else lashes out at Charles Davis88 whenever they have to deal with him, and that’s happening even after she already removed him.

edit: Maybe we should just make it an official forum rule: anyone who submits medical documentation to the moderators gets a green username and a free pass to troll and insult whoever they want.

It didn't really seem like either you or wanderingbadger44 were actually looking for any kind of help at the time, even though the moderator back then stepped in to lend a hand by asking everyone to just let it go.

I feel like you should at least try to understand what it means to be a whiner. Neither I nor Arthur Anderson49 fall into that category. We weren't out there crying about our problems; we just dealt with them head-on, much like how Arthur Anderson49 ended up carrying my weight too, absorbing a massive amount of verbal abuse just to stand by me.

Is this an inside job? Look, I’ve said this more than once before: when I’m putting a team together for a bit of mischief, a Catch-22 situation just isn't going to cut it.

The way they framed that "help"—forcing the two of us to share a single basket like we were some kind of circus act—felt less like support and more like a slap in the face.

None of that really matters in the grand scheme of things because we made it through. I honestly don't get why everyone is still making such a massive fuss now that the troll has finally been removed from the equation.

@Sarah Garcia46, he could have written whatever he felt like, and honestly, we aren't under any obligation to take his word for it, let alone feel responsible for trying to fix him.

I’ve got to be honest, you’re really starting to get on my nerves. kaže:
Back when we were still completely in the dark about them being a troll, we had no idea what we were getting into. Now that the mask has finally slipped, everything makes sense.

🙄 What can I even say about this? You could see it clearly from an airplane window. But like Arthur Anderson49 said, it didn't really affect you guys.
vividtiger922 said:She’s sticking to that same old playbook even now, especially considering how she let that one user keep posting despite being under a partial ban; honestly, she really ought to face some consequences for playing fast and loose with the rules like that.

Wow, they’re really going to miss out. Honestly, I can't even imagine the regret that's coming his way. It isn't just about being let go; it's the realization that he sat there for months on the payroll, coasting on her kindness after taking advantage of it, without ever actually contributing a single thing to the team.

Nickname change (read first post!) in Forum Help! ·
Is Persephone available?

Persephone is already taken. So, we won't be able to make that nickname change happen. In the future, I'd really appreciate it if you could double-check that the handle you're aiming for isn't already claimed by someone else. Thanks so much.

p.s. Much appreciated, jadetrucker43
