Indie film recommendations? in Movies ·
A few days ago at a photo exhibit here in New York City, I ran into a couple of people who don't just like movies—no, they absolutely worship them. They live and breathe cinema. One guy works for a small production house out of Guatemala, and the other is finishing up a Master’s in Film Studies over in Boston... anyway, we ended up chatting about those little indie gems that rarely get the spotlight they deserve unless they manage to sneak into the major festivals. It's such a shame, really.
Among other things, we talked about the Iranian-Kurdish film "Turtles Can Fly" by Bahman Ghobadi, and "Gasolin" by Julio Hernandez.
I've seen "Turtles Can Fly," but I haven't caught "Gasolin" yet.
I'm curious—which indie films are your all-time favorites? Don't hold back.🙂

...So, I booked an appointment at that absolute disaster zone of a clinic... right by Poet's Square...
Never been there before. I live abroad, so I figured I’d get everything sorted while back home on vacation... yeah, right.
First off: Grandpa is blind.
Second: He clearly isn't a fan of mine.
Third:
Regarding bacteria? He says it's "nothing to worry about." (WTF?)
Fourth: He didn't even ask if I wanted an ultrasound... he just kind of fumbled around aimlessly.
When I asked about these itchy growths on my labia—things that definitely weren't there before—it took him forever just to find them. And then his big conclusion? That they're "normal changes"??! How are they normal if they weren't there before?
Then I asked if I should get additional testing done, like for chlamydia or trichomonas, etc. He just rambled... oh, you need a referral from a doctor for that... and then you get sent from one lab to another... what on earth are you talking about? Now this lazy, blind old man is making things harder by overcomplicating something incredibly simple... everything is easy, man, as long as you have the cash... no need for those extra referrals from some freaking primary care physician...
He just wasn't feeling it. That's all.
+ Also, the Pap smear took and took... (like three weeks... because of the holidays... honestly, whatever.)

Supernova sucks.
Lazy and unprofessional regarding my specific situation.

(I wanted to see the specialists over at Mercy Hospital, but they were packed... damn, just my luck.)

Betty Bennett10 said:Nobody waits weeks for results anywhere. Usually, you get them within a day or two if we're just talking standard blood work. I’ve used private clinics in Brooklyn and at Bell Labs. With Breyer, the nice thing is they can email your results directly—if that's your preference, obviously. As for costs... I think a test at KFC runs about twenty bucks.

I really don't have the luxury of waiting around; I just need this done quickly. I need glucose, RBC, WBC, cortisol, kidney function, and... honestly, the thing is, I've never actually had blood drawn before, so I'm wondering what the whole process entails. These are just the most basic tests I'm looking for.
Naturally, I'm hoping someone can point me toward where I can go, how much it'll set me back... maybe even a link to a site or something. (Not an ad for any specific lab, I promise, I just genuinely need help, thanks!) That's exactly what I'm after.
🙂
p.s. do they do urine tests too?

I'm looking for a private lab here in Brooklyn for some bloodwork and a quick analysis...
Does anyone know what the typical rates are?
I need a private facility because I honestly don't have weeks to waste waiting around for results...

Looking for a private gynecologist? Where should I look? Who’s actually good? Is it worth the extra cost?
Dentist... private practice... where to look... read on.
Looking for a private dermatologist to check out some moles? Where should I go?

You're welcome.

Let's not insult each other, shall we? Or maybe we should?

Look, here's the deal: I use weed, and then on rare occasions—maybe once every three or four months—I'll indulge in a hard drug like coke or X.

And honestly? As long as it stays that way, I’m going to be perfectly fine.
i that's just how it is.

🙂

it really is just plain and simple and straightforward and easy.

"The Virgin Suicides" by Coppola.

"Teknolust," starring Tilda Swinton... honestly, it’s pretty sexy and kinky.

And yeah... looks like I'm just revisiting all the old classics...
