Jerry Moore61 said:Based on what I caught seeing out on the track today, the competitive landscape in NASCAR doesn't look great. It’s been common knowledge for a while now that Ferrari has already pivoted toward developing next year's car—and word around the paddock is that Red Bull is following suit.

Reminds me of '88—nobody even bothered trying to catch the low line, everyone just turned their attention to the next season instead.

this one is top-tier 🙏 reminds me of those black JPS Lotus cars 👍

fadedwalker18 said:Go ahead and look up the 1982 Monaco Grand Prix; you'll see exactly how much of a "virtuoso" Alain Prost actually was when he proved himself totally incapable in Monaco, especially since you're bringing up 1988.

"Well, we've got this ridiculous situation where we're all sitting by the start-finish line waiting for a winner to come past, and we don't seem to be getting one!" - James Hunt 🙏😁

Is that the famous race you're thinking of? Honestly, I don't see the point—what does that race or Prost have to do with anything? What connection could that specific race possibly have to an Ayrton Senna tribute? 😁

Yeah, sure—you’re back at it again, listing all those gaps he managed to create through sheer driving wizardry—first comparing him to Hill at Interlagos in '94, and now against Alain Prost... but how does that actually show up in the standings? 🤷 Alain Prost ended up with more points in both of those seasons 🤷 while Hill pulled in more points over just four races 🤷

Just a little refresher!
How much did that Frenchman in the vastly superior machine end up trailing by at the finish?

you should also throw in that bit from the 1982 Monaco Grand Prix when he was nearly a minute ahead of Alain Prost with just a few laps left😁 honestly, only an idiot would have actually cruised to the win there😁

Dana Perez6 said:If you take three of those 4-cylinder boxer engines from an Alfasud or an Alfa 33 and mash them together, you basically end up with a Ferrari-style 12-cylinder flat boxer engine.☕

If you mash three Alfa engines together, all you're getting is a bigger pile of junk.👍

ruggedhawk20 said:Two engines bolted together? Honestly, such a brain-dead concept. But hey, our buddy Ale is still obsessed with it.

I'll give you that, 👍 but honestly, who would actually think it makes sense to take existing ex-F1 engines, strip the turbos, and just bolt them together? 😁 By the way, people have been whispering about a Porsche V12 and Footwork for basically a decade now.

A saw = loves tidy, polished non-smokers wearing crisp, pressed—is that what you call it when you iron with starch? I can't remember the word!—shirts.

If we were to eavesdrop on Pila's cheering, we'd realize he's basically just rooting for cheaters (Schumacher) and crybabies (Alonso). That's his crowd.

Legends like Keke Rosberg definitely won't be making it onto his list 👍

This is an '89 style car

What kind of engine are you talking about? Like, did Porsche really sell anything to McLaren after '89?

Hey! Ale!?

okay, just ignore that 👍

but the reality is that during the Nineties, Porsche was nowhere near repeating that massive success they had back in the Eighties in F1 👍

I bet there’s a Keke Rosberg edition out there somewhere too

Since you brought up Keke Rosberg driving Senna's car—here's a little bit of the back-and-forth between those two

And do we all remember Senna in Dallas back in 1984, driving that very same Toleman during the street race? He was likely the worst driver on the track that day.

By the way, whenever Joe tells you something, you really ought to listen closely, because he is easily the most intelligent person here and a true expert. Just because he enjoys a bit of banter along the way doesn't mean you can't learn a thing or two about Formula 1 from him.

mellowtiger83 said:Senna didn't care about other people? Are you hearing yourself?

And what about what he did at Spa-Francorchamps? For Eric Comas?
Why was he adored by everyone during his lifetime, from ordinary people to the entire Formula 1 leadership?

Senna strove to be first rather than just collecting points, and that serves as an inspiration to many, including Lewis Hamilton for instance.
Not to mention children across the globe, especially in the USA, and his foundation established for underprivileged children.
During his life, he helped everyone around him, and he continued that through his legacy after his passing.

So, you are just a typical hater who likes to call people like me "fanboys."
While simultaneously spreading falsehoods.
You are spreading lies, cosmiccyclist8, and it isn't a good look.

😕

Why are you dragging my name into this? 😕 Honestly, Joe, just stick to teaching lessons and leave me out of it.😁

mellowtiger83 said:Ayrton Senna managed to lap Damon Hill while they were in the exact same car with about 17 laps left in the race!
Well, I'm not sure what else to say. Aside from suggesting you just turn on the TV and watch the replay.

How many points did that actually net him?

Damon Hill got 6—and let's be real, that "underrated" car (if you listen to the hardcore Ayrton Senna fans) dragged him all the way to second place. So, what position did Ayrton Senna manage to pull?

mellowtiger83 said:For those who aren't familiar with the nuances of the 1984 cars, here is a brief overview regarding the Toleman.
They were quite fascinating designers. It was an excellent chassis that simply lacked about 110 horsepower in qualifying and roughly 35 horsepower during the race to truly be considered elite.

http://www.gurneyflap.com/tolemantg184.html

That famous Toleman has been described as everything from a glorified tractor pulling gear around the track to a chassis with exceptional handling that was only 50 hp shy of the top-tier beasts. I wonder what kind of version we're going to run into tomorrow.
