it took me a minute to really get him. even though my buddy sent me all his albums on an MP3 player, it wasn't until I actually sat down and dove in...

🤣
It’s much better to just hook up with people instead.

True, but a lion will turn on its own cubs without blinking.

I can already see the horror movie title: "Return of the Gaussian Curve: Total Massacre 5."

plus there's this little guy named Rock who's gonna be huge one day, but crimsonfalcon17 will probably have more to say about that. He was actually the only one at the Deep Purple show. Twice:😲
Your crew would be out there smoking five-o's from Vince Gill... unless Brian Epstein wasn't their manager, Lemmy was the mascot, and Malcolm McLaren was running the club...
not to mention a little help from Jarov, who’d probably pitch Morrissey as a world-class striker... even though the guy couldn't score a goal against a toddler 😁
1. Golubica (Made by Vupik back in the day—it vanished during the war, making it the only thing from that era nobody actually misses. It’s basically liquid poison) 2. Seperic (There's this legend about it—someone wanted a bottle so bad they'd keep it on the shelf forever just to have it, but they can't bring themselves to drink it. It tastes like caramel, but bad caramel. Sour, bad sour caramel. Tastes like a dead candy factory) 3. Moslavec (You’d think the local punks working at the fertilizer plant near Kutin could stomach anything, right? Think again. Even they wouldn't touch Moslavec—and there's a good reason for that) 4. Simfonija (Usually, if you mix a cheap wine with some sparkling water, it gets slightly better, but not here. With this stuff, adding bubbles just turns it into a total disaster) 5. Ikan (The name says it all)
And out of this league:
Any wine that my buddy Dolgcajt brought to a party back in the nineties. No matter how hard we tried to bring some terrible, bottom-shelf swill like the stuff you get from a Bacvica tap, he’d somehow outdo us and show up with something even worse...
Dolgcajt, you're a legend. No offense, but I'll always wonder how you pulled it off—especially at Bumberov's party where we bought that ultimate bottom-of-the-barrel jug from the Precka liquor store. I thought nothing could be worse than that, but you proved me wrong. You showed us that things can always get worse...😁

The one thing that really stuck with me was: "I feel like a lonely cowboy riding into town leading my troops." 😁 🙄 Not quite on par with what Newt Gingrich was pulling yesterday, but still pretty funny.
What's Newt Gingrich's deal, though? Honestly, I'm just ready for a new sig😁

I think it took me even longer to catch on to that...😁 I used to spend so much time picturing those birds actually catching fire while they flew.😲
It’s funny to think about... if they ever released those lists of banned songs for US radio stations, you know, like how things changed here after 9/11. You'd probably hear tracks like "my white swan," "my seagull," or "blue pigeon." And then there'd be that one super dark, ominous song, "all little bird burn."😁
😁 😁 I’ll just keep my mouth shut, otherwise people might think I'm taking things personally. Of course *Princehood* is one of the funniest books ever written, even if it definitely has a heavy dose of Robert Sheckley in there—honestly, I bet most of the best jokes belong to him. Anyone who’s read his "mind warp" will catch onto that immediately, whereas Roger Zelazny focused more on the prose and the storytelling side of things. Even if the book only had that one bit about the magic sword disappearing and then showing up later looking all drunk and disheveled, it would still be worth the read. I’ve always wondered why *The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy* became such a cult phenomenon when, to me, it always felt way inferior in style compared to something like a Sheckley novel. It just gets a bit tedious halfway through for me. Sadly, the sequel, "bring it on" *Faustian Mess*, is much weaker.
By the way, I find Zelazny is much better at novellas and short stories, but that’s not surprising—most sci-fi writers really shine in that format. Most writers do, really; a novel is a huge undertaking. And those *Chronicles of Amber* books were the least interesting thing Zelazny ever wrote, though I guess I’ve never been much of a fan for those endless fantasy series anyway...
Anyway, I didn't want to get dragged into any debates over sci-fi rankings, especially since I noticed nobody included Ray Bradbury on these lists, so I don't really know what to tell you guys. At least someone remembered Le Guin.🙂
1. That apartment waiting list from back in the late 80s (if it even still exists) 2. The classic sketches from Saturday Night Live 3. Those unreleased underground indie playlists 4. The Schindler List (for those who actually made the cut) 5. Any random list that somehow manages to leave out all the musicians
