You need an actual Windows installation CD, pop it into the drive, and then reboot the machine.
I mean, you can do it that way, kind of like when you're installing a game... though I think Windows usually goes through the existing setup? I'm not entirely sure...
Look, just burn a bootable disc and format the computer properly... if you're looking for virtual drives like Daemon, Alcohol 120 has them, plus there's a ton of other software out there like that...😁

Doesn't it have to be DDR2 if the previous one was DDR2? 🤷 I'm just using integrated graphics at the moment.
How on earth can integrated graphics actually die?
Come on, someone get me a quick link for streaming... I’ve got my Comcast service up but I'm getting zero signal on the local news or the streaming app, so I can't watch a damn thing... please, just any link that actually works, or if anyone has a decent US cable login, even better...
Answer these questions first, then let the guys help you figure out the configuration How much cash are you planning to drop? - Where are you shopping (paying cash or using a card)? - What’s the main use for this rig? - What kind of parts are we looking at? Do you need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and all that gear? - Are you planning on overclocking anything? - Does aesthetics or noise levels actually matter to you?
Just order from Micro Center and have it shipped straight to your door via FedEx $667 Avoid those shady "dealers" at all costs...
Joshua Garcia3 said:Look, if you check out this link, there's a similar adapter—it's female S-Video to female RCA. Since you actually need a male S-Video connection, you’d probably be better off grabbing an cable or maybe a cable that goes from male S-Video to male S-Video... 🙂
Thanks, I actually already have a cable to bridge them... something like this works for me, but that little adapter just completely fell apart on me. The connector just popped right out of the rubber housing, don't even ask how... 😁 so what I really need is just the single cord that has the female end on one side and the male end on the other (the kind with the pins so I can actually plug it into that graphics card)

Copying this from an old thread I found... 😁 "Basically, AGP and PCI-e are the standard ports used for graphics cards. AGP is the older, slower tech that’s pretty much dead at this point—you can't even find modern cards made for AGP slots anymore. PCI-e is the current industry standard that everyone uses for GPUs now.
As for regular PCI slots, those are mostly just sitting there for things like modems, sound cards, or TV tuner cards. Finding a graphics card that actually fits a standard PCI slot is super rare, so I'm betting you actually meant PCI-e when you were asking about PCI."
Joshua Garcia3 said:It really ought to look like this, so check if you have that Realtek software for adjusting your audio settings. 🙂
Man, I already messed with the settings somehow and just now saw your post... either way, thanks 😁 I do have that Realtek thing installed; it looks pretty much the same, so I guess that's it 😁
So, I finally managed to set up 😁 like this... but now I've got audio through YouTube perfectly fine, yet my AIMP player is completely dead silent. It’s such a pain because everything was working flawlessly on the player before, but now it's only working on YouTube. Honestly, what a headache...
Joshua Garcia3 said:If you plug your headphones into that orange jack—or even the black one, really—and then go into your sound settings to set the output to 4 speakers, you'll end up with this weird effect where your headphones basically act like the rear surround pair... it’s a bit of a workaround, but it works if that's what you're after... 🙂
I've tried every single combination under the sun, and honestly, nothing is working the way it's supposed to... I'm just spinning my wheels here. Here's what I've got... Pictures... just pictures... So, I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to actually get this thing plugged in without making a total mess of it... I need to know exactly how to hook everything up so I can save some cash on a technician. Right now, I've got my headphones, and they've got these pink and green jacks on them, and then there's the line-in cable which is black... How am I supposed to plug all this into the PC properly? Any advice on where each one goes?
Joshua Garcia3 said:Did you actually get that audio output hooked up right? I'm looking at the top row, specifically that middle "Line-out" jack—one of those six available slots—but then I'm wondering where exactly you're plugging your headphones in... like, which port are you using to actually get the sound coming through them? 🙂
So, I had my headphones plugged into the center jack and everything was working fine... sound was coming through perfectly. But then, I went ahead and moved the other jack—the one from the line-out—into that center spot, and now I’ve got audio, sure, but my headphones are dead silent. I actually moved the plug all the way to the far right port. And just so we're clear, that first pink one is the microphone input. How on earth am I supposed to fix this? Now even YouTube isn't making any noise either... Honestly, I feel like I'm about to lose my mind dealing with this Windows 7 mess...
And now the sound isn't working in my games either... just great. Everything's falling apart at once... Wait, my bad... I misspoke earlier. The audio is actually integrated right onto the MSI 870-C45 motherboard, not the 770 like I originally said... damn it... 😁 So, I'm sitting here dealing with this Realtek HD audio driver... honestly, it's driving me up the wall. It feels like every time I think I've got my sound settings dialed in, something glitches out and leaves me staring at a silent monitor. Just one more thing to deal with in an already messy setup...
Hey everyone, does anyone actually know why I’ve got zero sound right now?? I went through the whole drill and installed all the drivers, everything seemed fine on paper... but nothing's coming out of the speakers. It worked perfectly back when I was running XP, but now on Windows 7, it's just dead silence. The weird part is, I can hear stuff through my headphones just fine, but the actual speakers? Total silence. Any idea how to fix this mess? I'm running an MSI 770-C45 motherboard
Heh... thanks to both of you. I already took Robert Rodriguez2 up on his advice, and I’m doing the same thing now. I actually ordered a whole setup from him, including that hard drive you used... So, first thing tomorrow morning, I'm calling Best Buy to see if they can swap out this 6670 and just give me back my 5670.😁 Oh, one thing—I did change the processor slightly. I've got an AMD Athlon II X3 3.2 in there now, whereas before it was the 3.1GHz version. This newer one is a bit pricier$5.25 so I'm hoping I didn't screw things up again... though honestly, I doubt I'll even notice such a tiny difference, but whatever, let's try it.😁 Anyway, the GPU is going back to being a 5670... sorry for bugging you guys so much... You're probably gonna get a break from me for a while, at least until I run into another wall somewhere...
So, I’m stuck with this old LG Flatron monitor at 1280x1024 for now... basically just holding out until I can actually swing the cash for an upgrade. I know those cards aren't exactly powerhouses, but hey, they're cheap. So, what's the move? Should I just stick with the 6670 they suggested, or should I get back on the phone with them and swap it for a 5670? It ought to run okay on this setup: PC-10600 Memory, 2 GB CORSAIR VS2GB1333D3 Value series, DDR3 1333MHz $53(I'll probably grab another 2GB next month, so 4GB total) 550W Power Supply, LC POWER Silent Series, ATX V2.2, 120mm fan $100 Intel Core i3-2100 BOX, s. AM3, 3.1GHz, 1.5MB cache, Triple Core $180 MSI 870-C45 Motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce 8800/SB710, DDR3, audio, S-ATA, G-LAN, PCI-E, ATX, s. AM3 $158 Western Digital Caviar Blue Hard Drive, 500 GB, 7200 rpm $329.00 That’s the build the guy over at Best Buy put together for me, including that hard drive you mentioned... I already placed the order, so the only thing left to figure out is this graphics card.
Benjamin King2 said:Look, you've gotta tell me what you actually mean by "better graphics" at this point, because I am completely lost when it comes to following your logic... 🙂
I'm talking about higher detail levels and resolution... 🤣 I just want to be able to crank up some settings to High on something like an old Radeon 6670 and actually have the game run without dying... say, titles like Dirt 3 or Portal 2...
So... that's that, then. I guess I'm back at square one. What am I even supposed to pick now? My main priority is getting decent graphics, but I’ve got this 1GB card right now and I know deep down that more VRAM doesn't automatically mean better visuals... right? That's how it works, isn't it? I'm stuck on what to actually buy. And then there's the whole FPS debate. Honestly, if a game runs smooth without constant stuttering, I don't care much about a massive frame rate... or maybe I do? God, I don't even know anymore...
Benjamin King2 said:The 5670 should be about 10% faster. Which graph are they even looking at? Are those really the only two options on the table?
Look, the thing isn't even about them changing things, it's just that I'm trying to order that specific PC build you and flatron helped me put together for around $2,000, right? In that original setup, we had the 5670 with DDR5, but now they're pushing this 6670 with DDR3 on me. And honestly, that's where I'm stuck... I have no idea which one is actually going to perform better. It's a real headache. I'm torn between the two because the price tag is basically identical... I don't quite grasp what people mean when they say one is "faster" than the other, you know? So I'm just sitting here wondering if I should go with their 6670 suggestion or stick with the 5670... damn... I guess they're pretty close, but which one is the smarter move? I can't really swing the extra cash for a higher-end model, so I'm stuck choosing between these two...
