Here goes my thread in the US...🙄

But look, mistybear4, you're acting like a total cultist here...

If you don't have anything constructive to say, at least try to refrain from insulting people.

Wait, did he actually ask if you have any connections or something else along those lines?

Matthew Scott2 said:I went searching through the forums, but I couldn't find a single thread specifically dedicated to eczema. Then I remembered some family members—my aunts and cousins—suggesting that what I have might actually be psoriasis.
Basically, for a few years now, these patches—let's just call them eczema flare-ups—have been popping up on my elbows, the creases of my arms, and my ankles. I’ve lived under this misconception for quite a while, at least until I read this tonight and genuinely started wondering if I am actually dealing with psoriasis myself.
I'm curious if anyone here knows more about eczema and whether there's any actual link between the two conditions?

So, what's the professional medical opinion on all this?

We managed to dig through some old family history and found out one of our great-grandmothers "had something on her skin." 😠 I absolutely despise that mindset! As if I should just take photos of myself and live in total ignorance just because some old relative thought being sick was something to be ashamed of and kept hidden. 🙄 It’s honestly frustrating how backward those old attitudes can be.

Look... honestly, I'm not even surprised your great-grandmother would hide something like that—especially when you consider how many people still avoid anyone with psoriasis today just because they're afraid of catching it.🙄

I was just thinking—maybe I should try my luck with the Powerball... clearly, my odds are looking pretty good right now... Not that anyone else has ever had zero issues with their skin while dealing with three busted knees 🙄

Alright... we're drifting a bit from the main topic here. My doctor actually just prescribed some allergy meds today—he thinks my skin should clear up in about ten days or so if I stick to them... they're called Claritin. And, naturally, he gave me the standard advice to try and stay calm and avoid getting worked up over things...

Of course, barely thirty minutes after stepping out of the clinic, some cop pulls me aside and starts lecturing me about the photo on my driver's license... damn Murphy and his laws 🙄

Alright, mistybear4, you're already tearing him apart...

Psoriasis is a genetically driven condition—there’s just no cure for it. That part is set in stone. However, symptoms don't just appear out of thin air; they need a trigger, whether that's chronic stress, a poor diet, systemic inflammation, or something similar. Because of that, you actually can manage the flare-ups—or even get them to disappear entirely—simply by making significant lifestyle changes. Anything else people claim about "miracle cures" is absolute nonsense. 🙄

Yeah... just one question...
My doctor has been pushing this Beloderm cream on me for a while now. Has anyone actually used it, and does anyone know if there are any side effects?

swiftscout8... what have you actually tried? In your opinion—just being honest here—what really seems to work best?

wow... I'm just sitting here looking at the numbers... only about 1-2% of the population deals with this condition... which means I've really struck gold... maybe I should actually start playing the Powerball🙄 😁
Dealing with aging parents in Psychology ·
From what I’ve observed, there are really two fundamental reasons why arguments break out within an otherwise healthy family unit.

The first is a failure to maintain proper boundaries. It seems to me that when people deal with someone who hasn't quite learned how to assert their basic rights—someone who isn't yet firm about not letting others overstep—others instinctively try to impose their will, pushing those boundaries just as far as they can get away with.
I’ve noticed this dynamic playing out frequently in parent-child relationships. It goes both ways: either a parent violates a child's fundamental rights—take the right to privacy, for instance—simply because the child hasn't mastered saying, "This is my private space, and I won't allow anyone to intrude," or the child disregards the parents' rights for that very same reason.

The second reason comes down to a lack of discipline and self-control. To be honest, I've come to realize that almost any argument could be avoided if at least one person manages to stay calm. Once the person initiating the conflict realizes they can't goad the other side into losing their cool, the tension usually dissipates, which then opens the door for actual, constructive dialogue.
Typically, you'd expect the parent to be the one who refuses to be rattled, though—and I say this with all due respect to traditional roles—there are times when the child might need to step up and take on that role instead.

To be honest, I’ve got it on both my knees and both elbows... I actually ignored the symptoms for quite a long time—just brushed them off, really—and only finally decided to see a doctor a few months back. It turns out I've been diagnosed with psoriasis, though apparently it's a milder version.

Right now, I’m using some topical steroid cream, and while things seem to be improving, it isn't quite hitting the mark like I'd hoped it would...

Does anyone here happen to know more about those fish? Like, where can you actually get ahold of them? What kind of price range are we looking at? How do you go about raising them? And honestly—are they any good if you prepare them as a fillet?

It’s estimated that about 2% of the population—a group I unfortunately belong to myself (yay... 🙄 )—is dealing with this incredibly tedious illness...

Because of that, I started thinking it might actually be useful to have a dedicated thread here on the forum where we "lucky" 2% can swap stories, trade advice, or just offer some virtual shoulder to lean on when things get rough.

So, is there anyone else here living with this persistent condition? How are you all managing it—do you have any practical tips, or even just a way to cope...

Any good rock band recommendations? in Music ·
Rainbow, Scorpions, Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen (not exactly rock, but damn)—Bad Company...
Your best bet is to start by checking in with your primary care physician—assuming you don't have some sort of specialized specialist already on speed dial. They’ll likely be the ones best equipped to point you in the right direction.

I headed over to see a lady up near Times Square... didn't end up paying a dime, and honestly, I walked away completely satisfied with how things went.

I should probably mention that this was just a one-time thing—so I can't exactly promise they'll always be this generous or consistent.
